Does vw beetle 1.2 underpower?
My friend is deciding whether to go for 1.4 or 1.2. The price different is around 15k.

Btw, what does the turbocharged actually fit up to the 1.2?
Like we could say 1.2 equal to normal engine 1.5 or 1.8 or sth like that.

Anyone could comment about it?
Thanks!

For the beetle 1.2 is just good enough power for the heavy body.
not under power or over....just ngam ngam....
let say the 1.2turbo similar power to 1.8na car.
turbo-charge engine is vacuum more air into cylinder when driver was fully throttle to gain more power.
Turbo engine mostly come with small cc engine.
Small cc use on better fuel comsuption, when power needed, turbo active.

Thanks for the explanation! notworthy.gif
btw do you think it worth the money? about 15k for 1.4
but the FC shown on website saying that 5.9L/100km for 1.2 and 6.6L/100km for 1.4

If 80% city drive would it be better to opt for 1.2?

Thanks!!

Really? I always thought that the EA888 engine had more potential compared to the EA113 engine. Especially if you take both Mk5 and Mk6 GTI, a simple stage 1 and the dyno figures show the EA888 can push close to 240whp. Even if comparing a stage 3 EA113 engine and a stage 3 EA888 engine, the EA888 engine can easily surpass the 300whp mark.
*
Yes i know already that ea888 walks all over the ea113 when it comes to dyno. Was comparing 2.0 with 1.4 potentialwise.
Maybe i should say 2.0tsi instead?
Ea113 not too bad since the R's are using it with k04.

Don't forget uprated internals as well, forged items hence the more powerful play. Heard the new Mk7 R will come with 300horses!

I think you can send in to authorised SC to check. Another important one will be stock ECU. If mapped, any future warranty related to engine/gearbox maybe void. If not confident, send in 2x SC to confirm the ECU. Try ask for written report that ECU is not mapped or touched before.

Although it is GTI and 6-speed wet DSG, if one day the engine fails, and you need to claim warranty, SC says, "sorry, mapped ECU void warranty"

Ok la the dsg6 is quite reliable.. Warranty should be ok.. Many service advisors out there.. Sure not all will deny the warranty... Heard some stuffs going on

Yeap! Time to move on to another German make. smile.gif Anyway, plan to send the car for a check before placing the deposit with a used car dealer. Is the SC willing to conduct a full check on the car despite me not being the owner yet or I will have to send it to somewhere else? Any recommendations? Does the SC checks the car for any accidents?

1. resale value,  esp passat and cc.
won't be better than toyota or honda, passat & cc is on the same drive train 1.8 tsi with 7spd dry dsg (dq200)
the reason why passat cc still holds high resale value is due to better 2.0tsi with 6spd wet dsg (dq250)

2. quality of driving compared jap
go test drive

3. warranty 5 years or 100k km whichever comes first? only applicable on free labour?
5 year unlimited warranty (not covering wear & tear), free service depends on SA

4. any new gen coming soon to replace current passat and cc?
no until at least 2014

5. any sc at puchong? opening soon?
6. spare parts issue and repair cost

thanks.

Not the SE version. Mileage is about 35k km. Quite low. Will defo join the club. Need to learn abit more. Hehe

And yes, the power the seriously straight on. Managed to spin the tires just by coming out of a traffic light. Stark difference compared to my old 6 cylinders. LOL

yes but sometimes i feel the 4 cylinder is kind of boring in terms of sound. the R32 V6 's sound is totally epic. 5 pots aint bad too.
but even merc A45 AMG is using 2.0T 4pot still producing 360hp 450Nm!
