Planning for japan trip next year but my sis fren lost her baby after she got back from Hokkaido. Seems that radiation hasn't wear off. sad.gif

Too many variables to pin this down on radiation. The way I see it, unless there are published studies and reports of the Japanese birth rate experiencing a sudden drop since Fukuoka (and I've yet to see one), then all this "radiation danger" is just paranoia. Japanese themselves in last 2 years not much affected, why would we be affected after just 1-2 weeks?

QUOTE(ivzh @ Mar 26 2013, 06:57 PM)
hi, using maybank credit card (mastercard/amex) in japan will kena extra charge?

Using credit card overseas, after the lousy exchange rate and 1-2+% charges (depending on bank/card type) you always get a very very crappy rate. Better to take more money using money changer, then excess yen change back to RM also you will get better rates than swiping credit card.

Tokyo Opened March 16 March 22 to 31
Kyoto Opened March 22 March 31 to April 9
Osaka Opened March 21 March 30 to April 8

Damn sad, I only flying in to Osaka on 6th April cry.gif

Hey guys,
I'll be going to Tokyo again in May. But this time i'm applying for visa in Singapore.
I was looking at the requirements and the photo to submit seems different from Malaysia requirements. It says 'passport size with light background'. What does it mean? Normal passport size picture with blue background?
Appreciate any help on this. Thanks.
*
perhaps white background? that's the japan visa msia requirement though..

How much budget i should allocate for food in japan?
Won't visit those michelin star restaurants =/
5000-7500yen/person/day cukup?
*
yah more than enough for those normal/standard meal. Those shops where you can order from vending machine is quite cheap about 500-100 yen normally.

selling bmobile sim u300 visitor version, 300kbps 3G micro sim, activated on 26th, available cod 31th march, so only 9 days left out of 14 days. bought for rm133, selling for rm50, bought for rm133. if you happened to be able to buy from me please reserve by tomorrow 6pm. going to sell or simply give to other hotel guests if no one take. very useful for gps and station info on the go, althought sometimes loading maps can be real slow. biggrin.gif

PS: sorry for not posting this earlier...first time going to Japan and quite busy with the schedules...

EDIT: didn't manage to sell the card. price reduce to rm40, and if i read correctly, count down start 2 days after shipment, means extend 2 more days before expiry.

I am planning a kyoto-osaka-nara combo.

A
1: Osaka
2: Osaka
3: Osaka
4: Kyoto
5: Kyoto
6: Nara

My question is, is it suitable to have a day trip at Nara and then direct take the train to Kansai Airport? Or B is more suitable?

B
1: Osaka
2: Osaka
3: Osaka
4: Osaka > Nara (day trip) > Kyoto
5: Kyoto
6: Kyoto > Osaka

Agreed with Kyoto > Osaka.

And Nara should be a day trip IMO.

Hey all, I plan to go Japan in mid Aug, together with my mother. But I'm a sponsored student studying abroad and my mother is unemployed. Will the chance be very low for my visa to get approved?

"A self explanatory letter stating how expenses will be borne, name and relationship of person(s) accompanying (if any) " This letter is necessary right? Can I state that the expenses will be from my own savings?

haha, for saving cost, i would like to try the kaiseki lunch instead.. hopefully around kiyomizudera temple (kikunoi, the cheapest is around 9k yen)

However, seem like it's too late for me to make reservation as going japan this weekend, and the reservation only can made via hotel, anyone has experience on this?
