I sometimes use portable TP-Link TL-WR702N Nano router to create a bridge extension of Wifi signal at weak signal area. In bridge mode, your will have second SSID broadcasted by TP-Link and this is good for visiting guest. (At least my Thomson router gateway is protected from unauthorized log in)
The Nano router when in bridge mode is portable and it can easily plugged to any power point or portable USB battery bank.

I thought wifi bridge mode(WDS) all device still in same IP range. If both still in same IP range then ppl who connected to the tp-link still able to log in to the thomson router woh...
except the tp-link is NAT enable and DHCP enable then both thomson and tp-link is diferent class IP ...

My long long complaint to Maxis.
*
You know, when the Maxis RM118/10MB promotion came out, I almost signed up for it, but decided to wait and see when people warned me of the famous Maxis "hidden clause/ hidden cost" issue. When the promotion ended, I felt like I missed out on a great deal, and was rather upset with myself for not taking up the offer. I was even contemplating forking out for the RM148/10MB offer. But having read your account, I'm glad I didn't sign up. Even during the worst days of my streamyx experience, I've never had to deal with this kind of incompetence in dealing with Streamyx's 100 helpline. I'm not saying that they are competent - just that this whole thing about appointment being set from 5pm to 7pm to 8pm smells to me very much like an organization which is currently out of its depth, having overstretched its CS capabilities and currently being inundated with service issues and customer complaints.

Frankly, the RM118 always sounded like it was too good to be true. I guess the only way they could get that price point was to go cheap on routers and equipment. I do wonder, though, about the Maxis equipment procurement process. Did they choose the Thompson out of a brochure based on a price point? Did their tech team actually test the product out, running it through a normal use scenario (which in this country means a certain amount of torrenting and downloading)?

Meanwhile, I think I'll just sit back and wait a little longer. Now that everyone has jumped off the streamyx bandwagon onto unifi and Maxis ftth, my streamyx line has been relatively trouble-free, so no need to get aggravated calling up the "help" lines. I think I'll wait until Maxis wises up and starts providing reliable equipment, or TIME broadband comes to my area.

I think it only support up to 150mbps since this router does not have dual channel capability. I use homeplug to test and the wireless connected at 150mpbs.

Connect using Wifi straight from my notebook only can get 75mpbs since my wireless card does not support N-speed connection. Strange but true.

Anyone manage to connect Wifi at 300mbps?

Do you have backup copy of the router configuration file? If you have, you can restore the original configuration.
It should have the Administator account in it. Please do try.
*
yes i have backup of the configuration
but you can only do backup and restore with administrator account

If you're connected at 150 (130 or 144 is more likely), then the router is 2 streams capable. If you're connected at 75 (65 or 72), then your wireless card is the drawback because its single stream. This is all for single channel, 20Mhz.

To be connected at dual channel (300), your environment shouldn't have surrounding AP overlap, which almost impossible. That is if it follows the wifi standard, some china and taiwan brand router still violate it.

MaxisBB default password is empty (no password). That's why you can see the admin page without need to enter any password if you go to http://192.168.1.254 via wired connection. You may change this empty password to something more secure if you want.

By the way; if you want to access backup/restore router configuration page, the administrator account level is required. You may login via this URL address http://192.168.1.254/backup.lp?be=0&l0=1&l...=BACKUP_RESTORE using your administrator credential which is working previously. I hope you can login as administrator through this URL address. tq

they will tell you undersea cable damage, maintenance and all the things that makes you go turning around when the solution is simple.
you are just looking for trouble calling them
after all this year going from different service provider you gotta have at lease some basic skills to know where to find simple solution and not going all around depends on the undependable customer services they aren't going to give help most of the time following the script

I notice when on Maxis Home Fibre + IE 8.0.6001.18702CO when browsing LYN forum, I get "Page cannot be found" every so often. After refreshing it works again. Annoying.... mad.gif Could it be too fast that IE cannot render in time ?

But when switching to Firefox, this doesn't happen. Strange encounter

I subscribed rm118 package, although I face little problem with the router, but I feel happy that I subscribed ontime. No regret.

At the moment, I have put on a notebook cooler at the bottom of the router and turned off the wifi. Planning to offload wifi to the TP-link nano AP. so far so good.

Could it be some other equipment issue in areas where people are experiencing problems with the Thomson routers?

Because I was using a tg784n and now a tg799vn with my 32mbps business fiber line serving an office of almost 20 staff and no issues at all.

To be fair, streamyx customer service line is (or at the least used to be) as bad as Maxis. Worst part is it is a 1300 line which you need to pay and wait tongue.gif

Secondly, TM ONT adapter screwed up, not Maxis.
