me too, I din't see such massive pixelation especially during snapping/viewing pics, their fine and and color is very well accurate, superb display in direct sunlight  thumbup.gif
nHD pun takpe, for me display terbaik is still Nokia ClearBlack display ever since N85 OLED screen up until now.

OMG, I'm getting friendly with this phone now! but still, I still waiting for Nokia to fix the banding issue (dunno if the latest firmware have fixed this or not), I use a lot of high ISO imaging  blink.gif  no offense guys..

before getting this phone, coming from retina (ip4s/ipad3) and HD screens(androids) i figured the screen will be the biggest letdown for me...but surprisingly since day one, the screen color and saturation is just impressive especially viewing photo and video (try the sample OceanLife.mp4 included in the set). ClearBlack is clearly not a marketing BS esp under sunlight outdoor and thanks goodness Nokia didn't use the crappy pentile display for 808. The only time it's slightly less perfect is when using the Sympaper and Meebible apps for reading, the text rendering is understandably not as smooth as iphone retina. Probably the font anti-aliasing in those apps are not optimized as say the great Gravity app.

One thing the 808 > iPad 3 (asides from the camera obviously) is playing HD movie, while iPad 3 struggling with non-mp4 1080 files, 808 can plays them smoothly.

12800 is the highest if i remember it right. Nokia Drive is better because they constant updated the software but the maps are not up to date as like malsing garmin they update weekly.

Nokia drive updates 3 - 6 months only. My friend place until today show me i am no where then when use navigation it keep telling me go to the nearest road when i am already on the road

And you know la malaysia road standard every time construction construction so just imagine you reach a traffic light go straight but there is a damn construction right on the road? How? Furthermore nokia drive not like garmin you can choose alternate route

Sadly Nokia now didn't want to focus on any symbian phones, ClearBlack is a clear winner.. See Lumia screen it is very impressive!
Only now Nokia 808PV conquers saturation ratio which is daymn good no need BRAVIASS or SUPERASSAMOLED cool.gif

I thought Nokia 700 (which Belle FP1 equipped, same hardware except camera and PV GPU) can play 1080p, I WAS WRONG whistling.gif

it's a great move from Nokia really, more pixel = more render processing = battery juice kong faster. also means smoother GUI.

i don't read magazine or ebook on puny screen (i have iPad 3rd gen for that purpose biggrin.gif) so it's totally no problem to me. biggrin.gif

Canon 1D MkVI can go 4 times of that. shocking.gif

but with that kind of ISO the picture quality is probably about as good as my N95. laugh.gif

for checking route i trust google map more but that's because i don't have garmin, so i usually rely on my iPad. though if so happened i don't have my iPad around, i use my phone also never use route, just check rough direction, drive there, and check again to see if i'm at the correct spot. if near correct spot then i just drive until i reach the destination. laugh.gif

Nokia Map lacks localized Point Of Interests like malsing. If I remember malsing uses free service of the community.
What I usually do, if Nokia Map does not find a place, is to check the destination I want to go with google map and then mark the place on Nokia Map.

Also, soon we will have another competition from Apple. Apple going to ditch Google Map on iOS in favour of their own mapping solution. But I don't think anyone can fight the king of search ie Google.

Added on July 25, 2012, 6:54 pmAbout playing HD movies. I have tried the 808 DLNA which you can stream contents to any DLNA-enabled TVs and other devices. It is a very nice feature where I can show pictures taken with Pureview, play music and videos. But I notice when playing videos that I recorded, there is shuttering. But when playing music videos I downloaded from YouTube, they work fine. Anyone know is this because of bit rate of the videos I recorded?

I did try that features also. Experienced some stuttering effect just like you. But I haven't tried the youtube files. Do you think it could be due to higher resolution, and hence bigger file transfer for your home video instead of the FLV youtube files?

Maybe its good to try downloading full HD youtube file for comparison.

I also tried to use a RM39 Mini HDMI to HDMI cable for 'direct TV display'. It showed red ghost line all over, very poor quality images. Have anyone of you tried that feature?

I suspect is the al-cheapo HDMI cable which is at fault.

Both files are MP4. I use YouTube Downloader from Pico Brothers to save video files from YouTube. Have not tried using Mini HDMI to HDMI cable.

My hdmi cable doesn't behave that way but yes as previous poster said when playing video it is stuttering every now and then.

woaaahh DSLR very good lah at high ISO, last time used Sony A380 at ISO 1600 image still looks sharp.. comparing to a cameraphone, ISO 800 is a goner already with a lot of noise present in the picture (but so far Nokia is the best!)

N8 display is very clear too, it is a little bit natural (which 808 had its contrast a little bit higher) but when it comes to sunlight visibility, susah sikit lah nak nampak  sweat.gif  but still visible if you asked me..
*
Actually bro, when I see your mad.gif icons, it's like your 808 soo teruk at high ISO. Your standard high lah if compare to noob like me. Even semi pro cameras (those RM1,500 to RM1,800 type)not as good as 808 in certain aspects me thinks.
I chose the white 808 also. The shade of black on the black rather dull. After put black case, become black & white biggrin.gif

agreed, at default brightness setting, the display is completely readable under very strong sunlight just now when i went out (a tad dim though, it's mid noon sunlight after all!). maybe the display can go a little brighter as it was under auto brightness adjustment at 50% but at default setting there isn't any problem at all.

also i was surprised to see that the display resolution is only nHD and seems low on paper, but absolutely nice when i use it in real life despite coming from retina display iPad 3rd gen, can't really see the pixelate effect like on poorer displays.

Errr, isnt that expected for the Clear Black Tech? At least I expect it being long time Nokia user. Anything less, me will complain tongue.gif

update with my color coating coming off thingy, now it's left 10%, going, going, gone... sweat.gif

one thing that annoy me a little, while 808 pull off great photos, but the colors seems struggle under white fluorescent light, which is what most indoor lighting used. it produce much too cool color temperature. very difficult to get good warm colors. sometimes set white balance to sunny will fix the problem right away, but not always. fortunately, the auto-level setting in the editing part fix the problem very easily, if the image isn't seriously off, the auto-level almost always work well.

not to say other camera doesn't have the problem, though, just pointing out the weakness of the 808.

coating coming off? Got picture? Don't know which part you talking about but if im not mistaken the headphone black coating that im looking at is quite hard to peel off unless you jam in a wrong size headphone jack? Like how garage sales ppl put its zero scratch on mine smile.gif

on the white balance, almost all from my 1000+ I've taken very close to the actual warmness of the shot, unlike on iphone with its exaggerated 'cozy warm'...but i do notice there is a bug in our current asiapac firmware that the preview while focusing before the shot has the wrong cool auto wb like the one you mentioned and after the pic is taken is it has the correct actual wb.

From a quick google:

QUOTE
There are two options:
a) open nokia maps, select settings (between exit and search button), there is option (your photos or smth like that), when you deselect it, then your photos are not showing up in your map. (i use nokia maps v 3.09)

b) turn off geotagging: phone settings ->privacy-> save camera loccation info (i don't know how it's named in englis, i translated it directly from estonian

Hope this helps,
Jaak
