coating coming off? Got picture? Don't know which part you talking about but if im not mistaken the headphone black coating that im looking at is quite hard to peel off unless you jam in a wrong size headphone jack? Like how garage sales ppl put  its zero scratch on mine smile.gif
*
no, the color just came off for no apparent reason!

again i left it overnight without putting it in pocket or touching that part, and lost another 5% of the coating overnight! so now it left 2mm of that black coating. i try to get a camera to snap it.

i may sound like joking but i'm not. but now silver looked rather nice, matching the silver metal part of the micro USB connector lol...

QUOTE(hox @ Jul 26 2012, 08:59 AM)
on the white balance, almost all from my 1000+ I've taken very close to the actual warmness of the shot, unlike on iphone with its exaggerated 'cozy warm'...but i do notice there is a bug in our current asiapac firmware that the preview while focusing before the shot has the wrong cool auto wb like the one you mentioned and after the pic is taken is it has the correct actual wb.
*
nope i'm talking about the actual photo. most of the time it's pretty accurate, just not under room lighting. i think it has something to do with high ISO performance which contribute the coolness of the color temperature. not the color banding thingy though, i do not notice any corner showing big patch of blue/purple/etc colors.

UPDATE: ok got an olympus camera to do the job:

update with my color coating coming off thingy, now it's left 10%, going, going, gone... sweat.gif

one thing that annoy me a little, while 808 pull off great photos, but the colors seems struggle under white fluorescent light, which is what most indoor lighting used. it produce much too cool color temperature. very difficult to get good warm colors. sometimes set white balance to sunny will fix the problem right away, but not always. fortunately, the auto-level setting in the editing part fix the problem very easily, if the image isn't seriously off, the auto-level almost always work well.

not to say other camera doesn't have the problem, though, just pointing out the weakness of the 808.

Any samples?
Most people might prefer warmer tones, but what about accurate color? Is the white white, is the black black, etc? Warmer tones tends to make the white yellowish and also affecting other colors.

If you're viewing on the computer, it also depends if your monitor or LCD is calibrated, some monitor/LCD tends to be cooler, some is warmer.

i'm no photo expert but that's what i noticed from my untrained eyes. i'm on macbook air, and the display actually pump the colors to the reddish side of the spectrum, compared to my iPad which is quite accurate (haven't put the photos in iPad to view though).

actually i must say the black is black and white is white, just the overall color tone is cool. but then for most of the time it's actually pretty accurate.

Usually people will prefer warmer tones, but color accuracy is a different story. Warmer tones kind of gives more "mood" or "scene", but when you want accurate colors, you will want to fix the white balance (e.g. in particular skin color, eye color, teeth color, etc.)

For those prefer slightly warmer tone, you can adjust it before or during PP (but JPEG has has less flexibility on WB adjustment).

I noticed at first, but since I never actually use ISO at that high, it doesn't matter much to me. If they update, then good. If not its not that bad.

I actually care more about enabling 4x3 resolution on auto and scene. laugh.gif

I follow up on his tweets, but vaguely remember someone raised the issue about this, can't remember the answer though. You can add him and raise the issue. In most cases he will explain on why some features are not added. eg. Why the mic on video recording situated on top and bottom of the handphone. But not elsewhere. etc etc..

wait, yours is silver coating? Mine is black! Probably mine is the 2nd batch one..

Well, as far as im concerned, most of the situation the 808 captured very accurately but when dealing with room temperature, sometimes it is kind of unnatural and cramping higher iso just worsen it up. And what firmware are you guys on? Mine is .3090

look carefully at the very top part (12 o'clock), there're still some black coating left.

if i'm going to take a photo of it again, you'll see the coating came off little more already. what i did was left it on the table. sweat.gif

Its nothing like iPhone. If you want a nice cameraphone, go for 808. If you want apps, go to iPhone.

Either you get both or choose 1?

Camera of iPhone can't even come close to 808 but most thing in practically owns the 808

Conclusion

Camera - 808
Fm transmitter - 808
NFC - 808
Everything else iphone
