this elop should really listen to what the users need.. if he really wan to make lumia sell well, he should negotiate with ms to open those restriction and give the those simple function like bluetooth! ... if not, just go multiple way with symbian, and android.. imagine if i take one photos using pureview lumia, then my friend see it and say send to him.. but either me or him has no internet connection .. then how disappointed it will be for him and me.. i will also feel so embarrassed by calling this a smartphone ... and our data connection by telco all got quota..is not unlimited.. how can we what also upload to the sky..then ask other ppl to dl from there.. thats not logical at all in msia..  shakehead.gif..so i will just wait and see which stage lumia can reach in future..  blush.gif

sad they went to the modern-looking but crippled windows phone..using a symbian app like Gravity shows how stable, smooth and great potential the symbian platform can be..sigh

today just go play this phone at pavilion nokia store
1 word, awesome
quite light, very smooth, and the camera got too many function
can't even change the MP, keep showing 38
and can't zoom also due to using max MP @@

pureview zoom diff than other phone, swipe up n down, not pinch..its actually more accurate n precise with the box indicator

Trust me those are worse

The funny part when ppl take S3 and HTC One X they compare at 4R when they use pureview they enlarge maximum resolution and say 808 pureview alot noise. No comment lol

i had a htc one x, trust me, regardless of what their marketing said about "Amazing Camera", it's far far far far from the truth, it has the worst noise from all the phones i used before, and its like "watercolour" too if you really zoom in because they tried to minimize the noise by blurring the pixels...even not so dark environment, also noisy like nobody, i had all these really ugly noisy daytime pics using htc one x in my library that make me really regret getting the phone..the only thing it is better than iphone 4s/ sgIII is its f2.0 where it can capture super dark pic better than others but that too unusably noisy...i'm so frustrated with it that i sold it and get 808.

for those who yet to read the pureview whitepaper, its a good read on the rational of pureview 5MP / 8MP pics.

It's due to the sensor size. Normal sensor size is 4:3 format. So when you capture 16:9, it will be using less part of the sensor. This applies for all cameras, if they make 16:9 format sensor, then when you shoot at 4:3 format, you will loose some pixels.
Hence, why Nokia imaging team comes up with a ROUND sensor. So, the total sensor size is 41MP (ROUND), but effect use is 38MP (4:3) and 34MP (16:9).

i know but they should have called it 6MP not 8MP if we do the math...808 is 8.3MP HTC ONE X is 6.0MP

before getting 808 i was afraid of the lack of apps making the phone merely a camera replacement and the hassle to carry 2 devices..being spoilt with apps after years using iphone and androids..but surprisingly all the apps i need are in the 808 section of ovi store, in fact some are better than those from ios or play. Below are few that i think are really good (sorry la symbian veterans this is old news):

1. Gravity - super responsive and polished twitter/fb/greader app..worth the rm20 price tag, you can also try out the 10days trial version

2. MEEBIBLE - Very clean n nice UI plus NIV offline is completely free (never free on other platform)..but i use the more accurate and faithfull ESV translation which is also free download

3. UCount - feature rich expense tracking app..alternative will be Toshl but there is a bug for 808 in the latest version which make it unusable

4. Podcatcher - THE podcast app for symbian..too bad no resume feature

5. Quickmilk - cloud based todo app link to Remember Your Milk, been using this since iphone

6. Cutebox - THE Symbian dropbox client

7. Notekeeper - Evernote client

8. Extra Buttons - add 4 extra buttons in home screen like battery percentage, lock screen..very useful.. But watch out for the similar copycat ripoff version called Belle Extra Buttons..don't support this pirate developer he ripoff a lot of other apps too.

9. NOKIA Trailers - awesome movie trailers app that allows you to download HD too

10. FAST TUBE - A cleaner youtube downloader that support all resolution

11. JOIKUSPOT - teethering app

12. One Contact - handy widget to quickly sms or call your special someone smile.gif

13. Opera - i prefer it than default browser, more stable and faster

14. Sympaper - Pocket (Read It Later) client, i use this also as my browser replacement for longer articles because the nHD screen bit hard to browse

the only missing app from my workflow sync is 1password reader app, so i m looking for another password app but need to manually key in..any good one you guys can suggest?

If you have any other good 808-available apps to share, please list here ok :

Just got my white unit from Nokia Paradigm mall. Free tripod holder + nokia mug (pretty nice mug I must say). Now to transfer stuff from my N8.

welcome to the party smile.gif

i seriously think nokia can sell way more 808 than Lumia 900 if they give more attention marketing wise for their last great symbian device...

for me the best camera is the one that always with you.

my dslr is collecting thick dust on my shelf and it will keep on doing so for a long time with 808 wink.gif

the no.1 reason i bought 808 is surprisingly not because of the camera but that it is Nokia Last Great Symbian Device..

last year when i saw the leaked manual of then-called Nokia 803 at http://pocketnow.com/smartphone-news/nokia...revealed-images and i was straightaway fallen in love with the design and 100% certain to get it the moment nokia releases it. while every normal human being will prefer a thinner device, i find myself attracted by the shape and bulkiness of it..so original, bold not copycat samseng-like design...the white version looks almost like a phone that a stormtrooper would use smile.gif

so i was poisoned for almost 6 months ady

i have one good anti-poison for those reading this thread, esp those changes their devices often:

Don't buy 808 because any other phone you change after it will have a lousier camera.

Solid reason to avoid 808 if you don't want to carry 2 devices in future smile.gif
