Just Changed out my modem, actually I don’t really notice any benefits so far but all I need is to get the authentication password to connect only, you’ll need to access the existing modem to do so and I believe that the password varies by area

using maxis ffth infra btw
*
So that means I don't have to change the Mac address right?
I just have to somehow get the authentication from old modem and then put it in the new modem?

Do you have instructions (for putting the authentication in the new modem)? if not thank you at least for letting me know about the mac address issue

For my case I just key in the authentication password, I heard that it varies by area though

For most area, maxis service is served via TM unifi infra which maybe different from mine

I just tried I don't think it's working sad.gif
What's the authentication I'm suppose to be finding? The ONT authentication? TR069 parameters?

ONT authentication, mine is from old Huawei modem to new Huawei modem and using maxis FFTH infra not TM infra

Didn’t bother with TR069, I believe that’s for maxis/TM to remote into the modem

Maybe here would help

I was hoping the TM infra wouldn't be different.
Good news is the ONT Authentication worked... for like 5 seconds I had internet, then it didn't work anymore (I assume they blocked the new modem mac address). I have to call up TM to bind the new modem MAC address.

I don't really feel like calling just to change my modem because you said there's really no difference.

Thanks for answering my questions smile.gif

DISCLAIMER: This is only on Asus RT-AC86U, dont know about other router

well actually, i did something simple and it works

from the picture, we can see that RT-AC86U 'supports' VoIP.

what i did was just connect a LAN cable to LAN3 port on my Asus router and connect to the WAN port on the Maxis router. The result is that i got VoIP from the Maxis router and internet from the AC86U, the rest are just disabling internet/wifi on the Maxis router and connect the phone jack to the router

I just bought the new archer AX50, I use the AX50 as the main router and using the same method connect my LAN4 to WAN on the maxis router. Instead of getting a dial tone, I am getting an engage one on the DECT phone. Any idea you might share what causes this issue?

Dear Sifus

Good day.

I subscribe to 300Mbps Maxis Broadband package in Dec 2020, and the speed (with Asus Ax88u) was able to achieve around (using Speedtest, connect to 'Subang') between 300-310Mbps for the first 2 weeks. But.... it suddenly dropped till 90+Mbps after that, even after I restart and reset router few rounds. Then, I complained to Maxis, who requested me to change revert back to their tplink router, and then they sent Maxpert to my house to investigate. The Maxpert came and reset the maxis owned Tplink router, right after that, the speed was around 230-250mbps with TPlink Router. After the Maxpert left, I switched back to Asus Ax88u router, reset it, and able to get 300mbps. But, 2 days later, the speed dropped (again!) to 95mbps despite few round of reset (on Asus router) and restart (both router and modem). Since then, I get around 90-95mbps.

Pls allow me to provide the brief system schematic as follow:
- Maxis Modem (aka BTU by Fiberhome HG6240A)
- Router is Asus RT-AX88u, firmware 3.0.0.4.386_41249 (replaced Maxis Tplink) that connects to Modem/BTU via Cat 5E ethernet cable, with QoS, IPv6 & DDNS (cloudfare) configured. (tested speed with and without these setting, outcome still same)
- Intranet (to different rooms/space) with Gigabit Switch via Cat5E ethernet cable.
- Mesh Node (Asus AX82u firmware 3.0.0.4.384_10177) at upper floor, with Ethernet backhaul via Cat5E cable, that connected directly from Ax88u (not thru Gigabit switch). (tested speed with and without MESh configuration, outcome speed same)
- Wifi 2.4GHz and 5Ghz are separated with different SSID.
- about 20+ nodes connected to the network (70% connected via 5Ghz) at anyone time.

The speed (both wireless and hardwire LAN, at both Ax88u and AX82u end) was around 300mbps before it drop to 90-100mbps. The speed testing was performed using speedtest.net, Nperf and fast.com from Dell XPS Laptop (with WIFI6 AX200 module), thru both WIFI6 (5Ghz) and Ethernet Cat5E cable connection. 1 thing I notice that, the WAN port connection speed (that connect from AX88u to BTU) is only 100Mbps now. Previously the WAN port speed was indicating 1Gbps when the wifi and LAN speed was (capped) around 300mbps during the first 2 weeks (after switched from unifi in mid dec 2020) speedtest checked.

Currently, with these set up (Asus Router and Asus Mesh), the speed is running around 90-94mbps now. And for the past 2 days, my users (including me) are experiencing lost- connection (both Ethernet and Wifi) intermittently (for few seconds) during MSteam & google class session, not mentioning 'video loading' slowly. FYI, I never experienced 'video loading problem' during my unifi-time (with 100mbps only, and the same AX88u set up).

What surprised me was that, when I switched back to Maxis-Tplink router (again & again), the speed is in the range of 250-270mbps without fail.

Would appreciate if Sifu could help me to resolve this issues for these Asus routers. Is there any special setting in Asus Router for Maxis Fiber? Or, is it possible that it is caused by BTU (from Fiberhome HG6240A) that incompatible wth Asus AX Router?

Thanks.

Perhaps connection between ax to btu caused the issue..it should 1gbps connection..you can try to change auto negotiation speed on ax router or hardcoded to 1Gbps

Hi all,

I have a problem currently with my Asus Routers which can be solved after searching the web and calling for helps and CS.

Basically i bought an Asus router RT AX55, after configuring the settings, setting up the PPoE changing the IPTV, i m still unable to access the internet while the maxis router which they provided can.

Reason for changing router, the maxis router the provided was years ago when i subscripted to maxis. The wifi coverage unable to cover my entire house hence the changing of router. Moreover, im a noob when it comes it IT. Tried my best calling CS to upgrade router but they told me to wait more then a month.

Any input is welcome.

Thanks in Advance.

Select maxis fiber or maxis fiber special(for maxis infra) under lan> IPTV

Make sure that your pppoe username and password is correct

You may be better served by posting in this thread instead( asusMY official thread): https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2651405

Hi Sifus,

Quick question. I have TM modem HG8240H5. Anyone knows how to login as I want to enable VOIP in the modem itself.

I have tried telecomadmin/admintelecom and tmadmin/Adm@XXXX (XXXX is the last 4 digit of your modem MAC address).

Both options do not work.
