I can give you the numbers from tassie only though. but that'll need to wait a lil till the mentoring program starts. so far IMU transfers = 4 students.

Effective this year, Sunway Monash students can also apply to do their third year medical in Clayton for a year. This is in addition to the three months in the final year.

Interesting move to attract more students perhaps? They've already compromised on entry requirements, so this is another pull. PLUS, there's a spanking new loan courtesy of taxpayers just announced yesterday. The timing could not have been more immaculate. What's for sure is medical graduate who takes both PTPTN and SPP1M will graduate with RM300k in loans. How's that for perspective?

No person in the right frame of mind will want to take a bank loan at BLR-1 and subsequently BLR to finance his studies. This would be a faster route to bankruptcy.

Even repaying PTPTN loan of RM150K is already a nightmare! And not include top-up with a commercial loan.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder!!

This diagnosis COULD NOT have been from any of the govt clinics or hospitals, can it? He had numerous hospital visits, surely someone could have come up with the right diagnoses and arrange to consult Neuro in QE Hospital. Sepanggar is like 40 minutes from Kota Kinabalu.

Cyber Setan, are you still in your hole in Sabah? Are you in a position to do something? This was such a lousy start to my day.

p/s - I had to look up Body Dysmorphic Disorder, thinking it was another condition that leads to hydrocephalus. Imagine my shock when I read up!

That is indeed a hydrocephalus and one who diagnosed it a body dysmorphic disorder is an idiot.

I cant do squat about this and so does the consultants, they will just push this case to the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat instead.

Relying on Sabah Govt. Hospitals for cases such as this? We are already swamped with illegal immigrants/foreigners taxing our state's healthcare facilities no thanks to project Mahathir the f***ing Traitor.

I am not unaware of the illegals in the state. How to not see them, when you see 10:1 illegals to local everytime one steps out of the house?

In this case, the kid needed a simple VP shunt, right? Is it too late now? I can imagine what the CT films will look like. Maybe it was just umno puteri doing their pre-election miniscule bit.

VP shunt could have been done... then again... apparently the pediatricians/neurosurgeons (if any) in the Govt Hospital doesn't seem to be bothered with this boy's case.

very often, in this sort of cases, it's the parents/relatives who declined treatment, for whatever reasons.....maybe disbelief, maybe the bomoh says otherwise, maybe the child is a good avenue for soliciting donations....

I have a feeling that inadequate education might be one of the causes as they are not sure of their options/rights, and thus like you said, believing full in bomoh or believing that nothing can be done if the doctors just cant be bothered. which is really sad. sad.gif

btw, just throwing it out there, would you do an elective in a big hosp or remote hosp in msia? planning to do more of OnG and paeds.

KUALA LUMPUR: Health Ministry deputy director-general (medical) Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has been appointed director-general, effective March 1.

His appointment to replace Datuk Seri Dr Hasan Abdul Rahman was announced Thursday by Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa.

In a statement, Dr Ali said Dr Noor Hisham's appointment, which was approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, was based on his experience and knowledge in the medical field.

Having held the post of deputy director-general since Feb 1, 2008, he was also the Putrajaya Hospital surgical department head and consultant breast and endocrine surgeon in 2007, Putrajaya Hospital general surgery medical officer in 2004 and general surgeon in 1994.

Dr Noor Hisham, 50, who has a masters in surgery and medical doctorate degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, joined the civil service as a medical officer in August 1988.

"I believe his experience, knowledge, expertise and credibility can ensure the country's health agenda and goals are executed, and the people get the best medical service," said Dr Ali.

The post felt vacant following the demotion of Dr Hasan Rahman last year.

Dr Hasan was demoted by one grade following his khalwat case in November. - Bernama
