2 test drives today, my bullet point and incoherent report below (if you haven't notice, whenever I have nothing better to do I'll go look for a quiet showroom and ask for test drive
LBLP - 1.5 litre engine, eager to go from standstill, but out of breath when going 100 and above. I attribute this to the Jurassic 4AT. - The EPS steering becomes REALLY heavy when above 60km/h, I think it becomes heavier than the Gaga steering. How I know? The SA told me to make a U-turn (seems to be a mandatory step in every LBLP test drive - I made a half-hearted corner around 50-60 km/h. Fear of turtle notwithstanding, my butt was sliding all over the place thanks to the featureless seat. Bodyroll was naturally noticable in a tall car like this. - During the turn, instead of drawing out a smooth curve along the corner, for some reason I had to constantly adjust the steering angle to keep it in the line. - The fit and finish is markedly better than our Gaga. - Ride is stiffer than the Vios, but more comfortable than my FLX SE. - At low speed, where the steering becomes light, it is really easy to negotiate potholed-roads. But beware of puking passengers. - Proven once again, rubbish brakes. Even the SA admits this. - It is nimble, but not as zippy as a kelisa. - If paired with a CVT, I believe it can dabao the FLX SE CVT. I think the Manual variant can already do that. Conclusion : It is a good city car for those who are looking to get from point-A to point-B with as little drama as possible. Nice interior, nice finishing, but overpriced IMO. Honda Jazz Hybrid - First thing I notice inside the car: A half-hearted, awkward driver's armrest attached to the seat. - Pickup is gentle, but once you press it the power keeps coming. Characteristics of a CVT, I believe. But the Prius C's power seem to be lacking, even if the engine is larger. - The dashboard, while not as fancy, thrives in simplicity. I love this much more than the Prius C, which is more information overload than informative. - Handling was surprisingly good. I took it on a short stretch of twisties (and overtake a Prius and Prius C test drive units along the way - Rear seat was also surprising spacious, even if the bench is a bit on the short side. - Nimble and fast enough for me. - Trumps the Prius C with 8 airbags (Prius C has 7) Conclusion : IMO, better buy than the Prius C. I actually wanted to test the CRZ, but they didnt have a test drive unit, so I decided to take the Jazz out for a spin instead. This post has been edited by dares: Jun 10 2012, 09:24 PM |

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Jun 10 2012, 09:45 PM) LPLB EPS only got 2 profiles, 1 is below 60km/h, the steering feel very light, one is >60km/h, the steering will lock and feel heavy. This is definitely cheap skate design and can't feel the linearity about the control, either too light or too heavy. +1Ppl always said EPS is rubbish, lack of road feedback, but IMO, only LPLB EPS is rubbish, actually EPS itself is good if design correctly. |

No lah, even if I can't feel any difference I'm not gonna come back here and whine at you Please bear in mind that my Saga is a BLM and not an FLX which would have stiffer suspensions and thicker rear anti roll bar. So if you don't get the same results I do, don't blame me yeah. I imagine the FLX with those upgrades would have less potential for improvement. I Eco mode stifles the performance of the car in favor of saving fuel. You should have switched it to another more sportier mode. Same here man. It's like my own NOS switch. Turn the dial, automatically extra acceleration edi. Well, looking at the high performance level, the new Porsche 911 has EPS. This reviewer says it has less feel than the old hydraulic one, but it's still accurate and not really an issue. Ppl always said EPS is rubbish, lack of road feedback, but IMO, only LPLB EPS is rubbish, actually EPS itself is good if design correctly. |

QUOTE(zamanjaafar @ Jun 10 2012, 05:10 PM) The low profile tyres in the FLX SE makes the ride harsher. Hm.. I see a lot of persons complaining about the lower profile tyres in FLX SE making the ride harsher, but how many persons actually made a back to back comparison with a stock standard 1.3 shod with the 14" wheels? There is a difference when my car is shod with 50 or 55 series, but that's just because I have a fully stiffened chassis and runs on high spring rate adjustables. But SE has leather seats and trim And the SE bodykit has the boy racer look, some people dont like that QUOTE(davidke20 @ Jun 10 2012, 05:16 PM) GRexer from adjustable background, any stock setup is comfortable for him Seriously, both the 1.3 FLX Executive and 1.6 FLX SE felt the same to me in terms of comfort levels, good enough for daily driving, I have this feeling everytime I ride in or drive someone else's car, but I always have that grin/smirk back on my face as soon as I step back into the driver's seat of any one of my cars.Meanwhile, try to get use to DbW bro. That's the only thing that make you FEELL the car is weak, but its not when you have a same capacity vehicle doing 0-60mph pull side by side. As for the DBW, I think I'm really not used to the lag in throttle response after the initial input, really does get some getting used to, definitely will need to get a dbw throttle controller if I decide to proceed with the Saga FLX as a daily driver. QUOTE(dares @ Jun 10 2012, 05:26 PM) Maybe my comfort level is different from others, I actually felt a Merc E200 Kompressor "floaty" on normal roads, no doubt, it's comfy.QUOTE(li_5997 @ Jun 10 2012, 07:25 PM) This month got RM2K discount??? OMG!!!! I book my car this month and only got RM1K discount oo.... Which branch got RM2K discount??? AFAIK, this RM2k discount is standard over any Proton Edar official branch, not sure if it's available at dealers, it's easy to identify branches, they have every single car for test drive, most dealers only have the latest model or hottest selling model.BTW im buying Saga 1.3 CVT exec.... If you think it's bad enough on the CVT try driving the manual. You have to adapt quite a bit to the lag to shift gears smoothly This post has been edited by lhwj: Jun 10 2012, 10:50 PM |

I never had the intention of getting the manual, took one of my salesmen's Saga FLX manual out for a spin before, I was over-revving every shifts due to exactly this nature.
Can't blame me, I'm a poor dude that has only manual transmissioned cars on cable throttle. |
