Not sure if this had been discussed before, but anyone knows what's the bulb type being used in the main and also high beam? It used to be H4 in the old model, now that they have different bulbs, what bulbs are used in the FLX?

Also, been trying to have a more conclusive FC comparison between the 1.3CVT and 1.6CVT but the Fuelly list isn't very conclusive as not every poster listed their engine capacity.

IINM In FL, H/Lamp bulbs are H7 types... tongue.gif

Thanks, guess it's more expensive to replace 2 paisr of H7 with higher performance bulbs than a single pair of H4 then. laugh.gif

S16/SAGA FLX, the old people's car.

I don't get it, why Proton can produce a normal spec 1.6FLX for export, and didn't bother doing it for the local market, not everyone who wants the 1.6 FLX to be a "SE" that just shouts "boy racer", I would gladly have the option to have a standard executive spec 1.6 FLX without all the leather seats and all. doh.gif

QUOTE(dares @ Jun 8 2012, 02:12 AM)
The FLX SE is in competition with the Myvi SE, because the Persona B-line with the same price is a kosong car. If they came up with a 1.6 exec variant priced in between 1.3 Exec and 1.6 SE, it will decimate the sales of both models, and without all those "boy racer" shet like rims, leather seat and bodykits, it cannot contend with the Myvi SE.

Also, did you just called my car a "boy racer"?
*
I don't know what's up with the minds of those marketing guys with all the "Special Editions", it's not any special when there's like a billion(i know, I'm exaggerating) of them on the road, no doubt the Persona B-line is A LOT LESS ATTRACTIVE in terms of value when you compare the FLX SE with it, even though a smaller car, it came with ABS(which matters a lot for a daily driver), Air Bags, leather seats, alloy rims, bodykit and stuff.

But, seriously, I'm thinking of getting the 1.6 FLX for the bigger capacity engine(which doesn't have to work as hard compared to the 1.3, without forced induction and with similar engine technologies, no doubt, no replacement for displacement), but since it'll probably be driven most of the time by my Mum, don't you think it'll just be a little too "boy racer" for a retiree? That's what my "boy racer" image is pointing to, not everyone fancies different coloured bodykits.

And I want to stand in that I'm not a Proton basher if you're thinking so, I've owned a couple of Protons, with a 15 year-old Wira being the longest in possession, I just wished there's some sort of option to get a normal 1.6 FLX without the SE instead.

Same goes to the MyVI 1.5, I bet there are people that wished it didn't look so flamboyant instead, but undeniably, the kit on the MyVI SE looked decent by itself.

p/s: Sorry if I offended any FLX SE owners by the "boy racer" label, I, for one, am considering getting one, but I bet I get the "boy racer" image tagged on if I get one as well. laugh.gif

Went for a test drive between the 1.3 and 1.6 today, wasn't exactly a very conclusive test drve, only allowed to travel like about 5km for the whole journey, have to return the car before even getting familiarized! Was wondering if there's any other branches that offer a longer route? Would CoE have a better test route?

Can't say I'm conclusive of whether it's worth saving close to RM7k(based on this month's promotion discount) for the 1.3 instead of the 1.6, but that short test, definitely the 1.6 feels better even from the get go.

Well.. Discount of RM2k this month(compared to RM1.5k last month), and the different between 1.3 and 1.6 is already pre-existing at close to RM5k.

One thing I dislike most about the FLX SE is the leather seats! Wonder if decided on the FLX SE, anybody who's got a brand new 1.3 Executive want to swap the seats and door panels, with a price, of course. laugh.gif

In terms of comfort wise, the difference between the 1.3 and 1.6, albeit shod with different profiled tyres, seemed to be more or less the same, but me coming from a person who rides on stiff adjustables even on a daily driven car, wouldn't know much of a difference, except, they are comfy enough for a pure daily driven car.

The low profile tyres in the FLX SE makes the ride harsher.

But SE has leather seats and trim

And the SE bodykit has the boy racer look, some people dont like that
*
Hm.. I see a lot of persons complaining about the lower profile tyres in FLX SE making the ride harsher, but how many persons actually made a back to back comparison with a stock standard 1.3 shod with the 14" wheels? There is a difference when my car is shod with 50 or 55 series, but that's just because I have a fully stiffened chassis and runs on high spring rate adjustables.

GRexer from adjustable background, any stock setup is comfortable for him laugh.gif

Meanwhile, try to get use to DbW bro. That's the only thing that make you FEELL the car is weak, but its not when you have a same capacity vehicle doing 0-60mph pull side by side.
*
Seriously, both the 1.3 FLX Executive and 1.6 FLX SE felt the same to me in terms of comfort levels, good enough for daily driving, I have this feeling everytime I ride in or drive someone else's car, but I always have that grin/smirk back on my face as soon as I step back into the driver's seat of any one of my cars.

As for the DBW, I think I'm really not used to the lag in throttle response after the initial input, really does get some getting used to, definitely will need to get a dbw throttle controller if I decide to proceed with the Saga FLX as a daily driver.

stiff til butt numb dy, do feelĀ  sweat.gif

Maybe my comfort level is different from others, I actually felt a Merc E200 Kompressor "floaty" on normal roads, no doubt, it's comfy.

This month got RM2K discount??? OMG!!!! I book my car this month and only got RM1K discount oo.... Which branch got RM2K discount???
BTW im buying Saga 1.3 CVT exec....
*
AFAIK, this RM2k discount is standard over any Proton Edar official branch, not sure if it's available at dealers, it's easy to identify branches, they have every single car for test drive, most dealers only have the latest model or hottest selling model.

I never had the intention of getting the manual, took one of my salesmen's Saga FLX manual out for a spin before, I was over-revving every shifts due to exactly this nature.

Can't blame me, I'm a poor dude that has only manual transmissioned cars on cable throttle. doh.gif Definitely gonna miss the response whenever I sit in a newer DbW car.

Was wondering, anyone knows what's the width and offset on both the stock 14" and 15" alloy wheels?
