Sharing my experience using cloth dryer.

Previously have been diligently for the past 2 year goes to Laundrybbb to dry my clothes. Spend around RM5 per load at 4 times a week. Using dryer as it reduce time to dry and no need to iron for most type of clothes, especially children clothes, provided you hang and fold clothes immediately.

If normal drying outdoor, take 30 minutes just to hang the clothes and wait 3 to 4 hours for the clothes to dry. Laundry dryer around 30 minutes becos big capacity and use gas.

Bought Electrolux EDV 7552 at RM1.4k, 7.5 kg vented dryer, means need to drill hole to to exhaust the moisture.

Purposely bought vented as cheaper than condensor and got comment overseas that vented taking less time to dry.

I also got myself Energy Meter Electricity Reader to purposely measure the kwh and electricity cost of this dryer.

Result
Drying time: for 8kg clothes, require around 1 hour 30 minutes. 9 kg 2 hour.

Electricity Cost: 1 hour RM0.89 (kwh cost tariff set RM0.52 per kwh based on TNB rate, as my bills above 300kwh). So for 2 hours, electricity cost would be RM1.78 per load.

Therefore, i saved around RM3 compare going to laundybbb per load. RM3 X 4 times a week X 4 weeks X 12 month = RM576 savings per year vs going to laundry

ROI RM1400/RM576 = 2 years 5 mths.

Conclusion: best ever decision. Now get your self a cloth dryer.

Hi, anyone can give comment about heat pump dryer? How effective is the electricity saving compare to condense dryer? Not too sure is it a worthwhile investment, currently my house use dryer daily.

To dry a full load clothes , how much time it need?
I m still in dilemma whether to shoud get separate unit for washer dryer or combo.

get the condenser type.
i started with a vented dryer and been using it for about 7 years. Recently changed to conderser type. i feel life is so much easier with condenser type because previously i had to always open the window and put out the vent hose. Of course your situation may be different from mine. If you dont have a dedicated outlet for your vent then can consider condenser

i'm interested on heat pump dryer too coz it seems more energy efficient and save electricity (1/4 times), but the price is quite high, not sure if its worth the money.
Do you plan to stack it up on the washer?

Gas dryer is the best. but requires outlet.

2 tong of gas a year means the cost of using the dryer is only rm60 a year.

Try to beat that.

The heating element uses gas so the only electricity used is to rotate the drum.
It is vented.

Gas dryer has risk of fire. It's better that you clean out the lint every time after use.

Gas dryer as safe as electrical dryer.

Even electrical dryer that block by lint will catch fire if not clean it up.

Your model is same as mine, it works very great on drying but mine start failed recently...May I ask if if you have any removable filter on heat exchanger? Actually in user manual there is a step show removing filter from heat exchanger but I checked with shop they say don't have in their unit too. Let me know if your unit is same too.

Also do you found water accumulate in heat exchanger area? Because mine start not working probably now there are water flooded in heat exchange area and water container seems contain a lot less water compare before. Plan to call service man to check this week sweat.gif
