Lowyat sifu's, need your advice as I'm planning to buy dryer as it is always raining during the weekends. Can i know which brand is good and reliable? Budget is 4.5k max. Minimum what size is needed to dry a king size comforter.

On top of this, anyone here own this model,Electrolux EDH3497RDW? How was it? Thanks in advance.
*
Reply here just to make a point. My EDH3497RDW motor & board konk. Age, less than 2.5 years.

If you don't need that magic wool feature or crap, just get a cheaper/other brand with long warranty. Heat pump yes, but expensive. Electricity savings is not even enough to break even the cost of breaking down.

Just my 2-cent.

Like that die liao. I'm so sorry that yours one broke down. Hope mine last. Been using it since May this year. BTW, how much is the repair cost?
*
Electrolux quoted RM320 for motor while RM600 for motherboard, not inclusive GST yet.

I think their contractor technician is very dodgy. Motor sounded like bearing issue, cause very loud, straight say motor spoil and most probably spoiled the board too. The thing is, my machine still can switch on and run, just very noisy with the motor spinning.

So he initially stated it's probably around RM600 for replacement of both item, and claimed that need to take the board back with him to "copy the program over" to new board. So I thought, if RM600 not too bad, then later Electrolux called and quoted that crazy price. Now really regret letting him took the board.

Told him to come back and install back, ask I don't want to repair it. Will see if the board still working, or he might do something to spoil it. Then I'll trash Electrolux Malaysia's FB page if that happens.

Hope your machine last too. This is really a piece of expensive machine that shouldn't spoil so easily.

if you were our customer, we would adjust the purchase date so that you could claim for the 2 years warranty service for free.

the machine less than 2.5years kaput the shop that you made the purchased with should have done something for the customer.
*
Too late to change anything, cause I've made first claim 1st month into owning the machine. Electrolux already got record.

Anyhow, I'm looking at alternative repair.

first month already got the machine issue?

The back panel seemed like not properly secured, so they replaced a new unit. Then installer did something wrong with the stacking kit, poked a hole into the reservoir. Come again to fix it.

During that period, they didn't tell me Electrolux got their original stacking kit with tray. bangwall.gif

Cause the stacking kit I bought was hack job sold by electrical store. bangwall.gif bangwall.gif

Feel your pain man. The manufacturer seems to be gracious cos it seems to me they could have every reason not to honour warranty in that case using parts other than that engineered to work with it.
*
My reasoning was, the item was sold by electrical store and I dunno about it. Why was I being penalized if the item is not compatible. Electrolux should have trained them properly bla bla bla.

Anyway, you know what? It turns out, Electrolux do have the stacking kit with tray. I went to their spare part centre to buy.

If you ask any electrical store about stacking kit with tray, all they gonna say is, and I quote:
QUOTE
Only Bosch's stacking kit comes with tray.

Sales team sleeping on the job. whistling.gif

EDIT: Been getting a lot of different comments from different people.
- Store selling incompatible stacking kit (screw from bottom, which is a bit no-no).
- Electrolux technician said this dryer can't be stacked. But user manual stated otherwise, just use compatible stacking kit. Even catalog was showing this model dryer stacked onto washer (which is the model I bought too!)
- Electrolux technician showed me stacking bracket (made of aluminium, secure both machines at the back), not sold by stores. Store called Electrolux, Electrolux said tarak, no such thing.

In the end, I wrote in to Customer Service and they recommended this stacking kit with tray. Which was something I've wanted since the beginning. vmad.gif

PS: Hopefully my experience provide useful info to future owners, be it Electrolux or not. Maybe just contact their customer care first. Electrical store just sell whatever they could move, they are not properly trained technically. Maybe except Harvey Norman, but I never buy there, cause expensive.

I'm deciding between front load and top load washer. I've been using top load but I would like to have the hot water features and have been told that front load is more gentle to the clothes.

The downside of front load is I need to bend my body or squat to load the clothes to the washer which i don't like. Also the rubber of the front load washer is hard to clean from what i know.

Anyone can share your experience?

Thank you.
*
Front load uses less water, more economical. As for fungus growth, don't shut the door after use. Leave it ventilated. Mine 2 yrs+, just did tub cleaning, inside not dirty at all.

I’m deciding between Electrolux and Beko. Bosch brand seems good but very expensive

Which brand r u using?
*
Electrolux EWF1497HDW washer, EDH3497RDW dryer.

Screw Electrolux, mine dryer rosak just past 2 yrs. Try looking at Panasonic. It has heat pump dryer as well. That was my consideration as well back then.

If you still want to go for Electrolux, buy the mounting kit (wth tray) from their warehouse. Write in to their customer care. Outside shops don't sell that kit and they will say only Bosch one comes with the tray mounting kit. Will set you back for RM365.70 inclusive gst.

QUOTE(jence @ Jan 1 2018, 07:02 PM)
But the washing time is longer isn’t? Do I still need to use laundry bag for delicate clothes if I use front load washer? Is it gentle enough and won’t destroy most of the clothes?

Also, may I kno what other brand of detergent is suitable for front load other than persil?
*
Cotton Eco can goes up to 4hrs, but does it really matter? If you need to shorten the washing time, just reduce the time using the buttons. Otherwise, use quick wash.

I can vouch for this washer. Put dirty blackened cloth inside, came out all clean. rclxms.gif

Washing detergent, can go with Daia, green bottle only. Low sud type. Smell very good. If use other types, out less to reduce bubble/foam.

QUOTE(EternalC @ Jan 1 2018, 09:16 PM)
was looking around for dryer

final choices is between electrolux edc2086pdw 8kg or EDH3497RDW 9kg

price difference (before extended warranty) is RM1300 apart. but the 9kg energy consumption is almost 3 times less as what 8kg uses.

8kg - rm3k
9kg - rm4.xk

i've read reviews, but most of it is from australia, which says it doesnt dry their clothes enough. i'm not sure but it seems to me like only people from aussie complain about this.

and now since i read through the thread, i'm very incline into getting the 9kg one.

what does the sifu says?
*
Mine is the 9kg one, spoiled a few months after 2yrs warranty over. Your call.

Dryness, I'm satisfied with it. If you go with cotton program, it's very dry and very hot too. But would you risk your fabric? Mildly damped is ok, if you iron it immediately or hang them. Alternatively, I mostly use synthetic (can get very dry, shorter cycle than cotton) and delicate (not very dry) mode.

I don't use cotton for my bed sheets, cause my bed sheets are expensive and don't want to spoil them. Besides, bed sheet washing instructions stated there, don't tumble dry. rclxs0.gif

if i'm getting it, i'm getting the 5 years warranty.

yeah, bed sheet probably gonna go under the sun. how about comforter? lol
*
Yup, that particular model. I think there's only 1 model for Electrolux heat-pump 9kg.

Bed sheet in dryer, might shrink. I guess if reduced heat would reduce the damage. I have no place to hang dry, so must use dryer. Never washed my comforter before. sweat.gif

Side by side would be the best setup.

I was just answering Jence's question. He is comparing top vs front loader and said with front loaders he might have to bend down to load and unload thru the front door.

So I shared with him what I did, although in my case the elevated platform is necessary in order for the front loader door to clear the toilet seat. However I do find that having the door raised to waist level and not needing to bend down so low to load/unload is a welcome benefit.

Either way, your clothes still get washed.

Alternatively, I use a small stool. Seated while stuffing clothes in.

Since this is not a cheap machine, I will have to make sure this machine is well taken care of, for its longevity.

I installed a water pre-filter on my washer dryer water inlet, so that the filter can reduce any sedimens presents in the water.

This looks good. Can get this from Lazada?

Don't think can get this exact water pre-filter from Lazada.
If you prefer to shop for water pre-filter locally, you may consider suggestion from advocado to purchase the Panasonic External Washer Filter.
Anyway, this pre-filter is no longer on sale in Taobao because they have new model. Here is the link.
https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=552128455083
The pre-filter itself is around RM35 without shipping fee, and the cartridge is around RM10 each without shipping fee.
*
Thanks. Maybe I'll go with avocado's suggested one.

The 1 you using, can replace the filter without dismantling the whole thing, right? The newer one looks troublesome when replacing filter. Need to unscrew 2 places and not transparent.

Gas dryer has risk of fire. It's better that you clean out the lint every time after use.

It's fine. The electricity savings from heat pump vs condenser probably can't break even with the extra amount you paid for heat pump. Maybe not before the machine spoiled.

Unless you're all for greener environment.
