It might be the wires between the driver and the interconnect problem. You can fix it by removing it then resolder the end of your existing cable straight to your headphone (hence become nondetachable) or you can buy a new 3.5mm female to female and install it in.

Check your cable, or it might be your driver. HD668B should sounds fine w/o any amp.
I can just plug it in my clip+/cowon with normal listening level.

After 1 year plus, my HD681 right side lost sound... at first after a few adjustment or knocks ok, but now no sound at all.

This headphone has been dropped countless times from my table. Already broken the left and right side and glue back. A real workhorse. Now gonna open it up and try to fix the problem, most likely loose connection and need to re-solder. Hope I can fix it, I really love it.

Managed to find the problem to my HD681 losing sound on 1 side of the headphone.

Didn't know how to open so I broke the side panel instead. Actually the sides can be removed to reveal a small screw so can un-screw the cap off. Oh well, nothing super glue cannot help.

Just bought a pair of HD660. Was going to buy Grado SR225i but after reading review on Headfonia, i went with a pair of HD660 instead. To my surprise, this headphone sounds really good, especially for fast paced music. When pairing with my JDS Labs ODAC+O2 combo, it has tight bass, sweet mids, and more forgiving trebles than my ATH-M50. Even though instrument separation is not as great as my ATH-M50, but it sounds really fun and lively. I am sure it will sound even better after fully burnt in.

But man, the ear pad sucks big time (can't really complain due to its cheap price and amazing sound quality). Gonna change to third party velour pad soon.

just received my Superlux HD660 with the replacement velour pads from trio, great seller although sometimes slow with reply. do not worry, he's not running away with your moneyflies.gifmoneyflies.gifmoneyflies.gif, he's just busy getting more stocks for u.

im not a sensitive listener and can't differentiate those technical terms audiophile equipments. so im writing this based on my impression of the hd660.

the hd660 really looks exactly like the Beyerdynamics DT770 Pro drool.gif!! The cans are made from plastic and the headbands are constructed from a kind of metal (steel? hmm.gif) so that kinda makes the overall build quality feels solid. about the sound (for a normal user), the bass is OK and the mids are warm and sweet but the treble is slightly too aggressive for me. the vocal clarity is impressive on this headphone. noise isolation is also great thanks to the closed-cup design. the non-detachable coiled cable is too short. and the stock pleather earpad is the biggest deal breaker, it is very uncomfortable like my old "gaming" headset. immediately changed them to the softer velour pads after 5 minutes of testing.

after close to a week of testing and a weekend with whole day of movie+gaming on the hd660, im getting used to the slightly unforgiving treble. but i also noticed that the clamping force of the hd660 is really strong, even with the soft velour pads. therefore, any new buyers please do yourself a favor and get it together with the velour pads. also i suggest to try to teach some manners into the headband using 3 dictionaries like this

PROS:
- overall solid build quality
- comes with headphone case
- good bass and mids
- vocal clarity is impressive
- very affordable price thumbup.gif
- compatible with DT770 headband cushion and earpads

CONS:
- cable is too short and non-detachable
- stock pleather pads are uncomfortable
- treble is too aggressive
- clamping force really strong

my verdict on the HD660 the bass is tight, the mids are warm but the treble is slightly disappointing, too piercing for me. sound clarity and noise isolation are awesome though. the non-removable but replaceable coiled cable is too short. and the stock earpads is the biggest deal breaker, so after testing for 5minutes I immediately change them with the velour pads.

Dun you feel that the sound quality changes after replacing the stock pad? I have tried velour pad from trio also, but i find it less bassy and the mid is recessed if compared to the stock pad.

i didnt really try out the sound in the pleather pads because they are too uncomfortable. in the velour pads the HD660 still sound very good to me. but i guess there is a slight difference because of the material in the velour pads that dampens the bass

Yeah, the bass is markedly reduced if paired with the velour pad. I prefer the original pad albeit it's super uncomfortable

u can use face tissue which is soft to fold and can improve the pad cushion feel.

u also have options whether to put tissue all round below the pad or just half round.

full tissue mod will give u better comfort plus slight bass improvement.

the quality even better after fully burn-in.

u mcgyver the shit out of the earpads!! thumbup.gif but what i dont really like about the pleather pads is that they surface is too stiff, nothing with the cushion inside wor..

anyhow, how long did it take to fully burn in n how u do it? i just kept it playing some random playlist whenever im not using...
