for cable, see my post above yours (Post #698). I did shared a link to the thread selling custom cables.

for amp, like bro inv on the above post said, it depend on what your usage. For me, i just need a small, portable amp like FiiO E6. bought it for RM 110.

I think 660 440 330 series are a bit difficult to be driven well. If without a proper amp and prefer more bass, I will suggest HD681 evo.

Hi guys, finding a superlux headphone that's portable and overall nice. Can't decide between HD661 and HD572A, cuz never got a chance to try both to compare whether I would prefer over ear or on ear. For HD572A, if I'm gonna get it I'm aware that I should get an amp too, for now aiming for a budget amp like Fiio A1. What do you guys think?

Overall HD661 should be nicer. But the signature is a bit bright.
Fiio A1 will improve a bit if compare to your phone, but I will suggest at least go for A3 of Q1 (dac+amp)

Thank you for the reply! Will decide on hd661 then as I'm also preferring that a bit more haha. Will also check out fiio A3, just wondering whether a dac/amp is a necessity or not?

if you are contemplating and undecided on which superlux you wanna buy, i`d said get hd 668b, chances are you`ve never own pair of open /semi open can and this is your first time splurging a bit of money on headphone..

through that youll understand soundstage and sound imaging...it is freaking superb altough the clamping force and 2 hot spot on your scalp, gonna plague your experience.
if somebody said he listen to hd 668b alot, just ask him/her if she/he is getting brain operation, cause i still remember till this day how i got panic if i had a tumor or what cuz there is dent on my scalp from wearing for very too long...i`d said around 10hr+++ of daily usage,

you might think that by getting this detachable cable its gonna last long..nah hell no, i`d said the headphone weak spot is on the ever protruding female 3.5 mm port itself, mine died and need a detachable mod to survive.

if you want a closed can, instead of going gor dt 770 you can tried status audio cb1, or monoprice closed cheap headphone around 50 aswell.. both got a high praises, the monoprice even had a detachable cable just like m50x, and probably gonna outlast my 668b..

on the sound department,
high= the headphone is bright but not too bright from the predecessor 661...its been tamed down a lot...but still you'll notice it..

mid = clear and not recesessed.

low = it was there but it didnt stand out for much..this isnt a basshead headphone, might wanna check zreview for cheapo bass headphone recommendation.

if you`re budget gamer, get this, soudstage is really is something you want when playing fps..

Maybe this?
I repaired a HD668B once and I gave it to a friend. This is the only guide for you to refer since I couldn't open one for you to see. The Left cup uses the headband as a wire to connect to the other side.

I just opened both logo caps to make sure which polarity goes where. Good soldering pen is needed as the headband metal is kinda hard to solder on.

I see thanks for the info. I will try have a look. never done any soldering in my life. one more question can i just use and female 3.5mm jack. example i have an aux cable laying around then i cut the female part and use it or i need a proper one like the spare parts the one with the 3 prongs (dunno if it called prong or not).

Use whatever you can get. A lot of people actually use the female part of the minijack extender to replace their broken superlux.
The 3 legged one I assume you mean panel mount type? It's a bit tight for your headphone so just skip that. nod.gif

Soldering is easy with proper pen and proper tin. Do not get "Lead-free" solder tin to start. Very difficult.
You can get soldering pen even in Mr Diy if you want but the solder tin I'd prefer to get it in hardware or electronic store if possible. The junk that Mr Diy provides does not melt well and may destroy your equipment.
