Guys, my office is in high rise building 6th floor... I suspect will be using copper wire cabling to my office unit, to connect to the BTU.

In this case, I need to remain the existing phone line. For the Fiber-to-the-Building (FTTB), will TM pull a new copper wire which included in the installation services?

I believe you can't keep the old number and install unifi at the same time. Refer rattan for the issue would be better. High rise uses VDSL2 system in which the copper wiring is done normally when the building is under construction for newer buildings. They allocate one port or maybe two for each unit (same goes to condo). Not sure about commercial buildings.

r u getting direct download from file sharing site i.e rapidshare, netload etc?
did u notice there is a "premium" and "free"? free one usually cap by the file sharing site themselves.  sweat.gif

Hi, thanks for the reply. What u said is true, but even with my streamyx 1mb i could get at least 80~110kbps constant download for free user, but with my VIP5 im only getting less then 30kb :S

Finally got around to installing VIP10. Seems ok so far, no complaints on bandwidth although ping times on speedtest seems slower compared to my old 4Mbit streamyx line (~34 msec vs ~15 msec)

If they said building cooper is old, are it will affect download and upload rate or only upload rate?

Right now, upload rate are less than 20% of advertise speed. But the download rate still > 80%

I don't see much affect regardless that I am staying in 10 years old low cost apartment, but I can only achieve 24ms ping.

Ping seem no problem for me on VIP 20. Only unstable speedtest for download and upload.

Thinking about upgrading to vip10. So do I have to pay any additional fee if I want to upgrade? Also does the speedme promo include upgrading too?

the speedme promo will entitle you to pay old price for 1st 3mths. the new package price will take effect after 3mths. hence your service contract will be extended from 1st day you activate the service upgrade.

unifi 5Mbps cannot reach 5Mbps. most of time is 4.7Mbps average. depending on location.

if you want to hv efficient upgrade. call the unifi hotline. they do it immediately after verification with your personal details. once they upgrade your package. they ask you switch off all devices first. once you switch on everything the new speed take effect.

do u need to inform them you want the promo ?

my problem is this.

I applied within the promo period but was not aware of it and agent who sign me up did not tell me about it.

when i found out about the promo, i went to tmpoint to inquire but was told to wait until my first bill

now that i have my bill and amount is not the old rate, i called customer service( CS)

CS told me since i did not say i wanted the promo, i'm not entitle for it. Told her agent did not inform me and it's unfair to penalise me for it. CS told me that sound something like "too bad"

I feel I should automatically be eligible since i meet the following criteria

- applied with the promo period
- existing streamyx user now unifi, OBVIOUSLY an upgrade
- name and address of streamyx and unfi is the same

you need not to inform them of the promo. you login to occ. check does VIP10 & VIP20 promo is there on your menu? please confirm this first. you can do it online but takes time. but they give you an option to call unifi to immediately execute this. you have to provide your personal particulars for verification.

it's very simple to verify if the promo is successfull. login to https://occ.unifi.my go to myUnify you see VIP 20 (Upgrade Promo) - lowyat_net@unifi (for example)

but since you are dealing with agent. sound like there are complications. if they terminate streamyx for you. sign up unifi on your behalf. in this condition you are not eligible for promo. streamyx users have no access to OCC to check status. better you deal directly with tmpoint on the conditions.
