To me, it looks like someone is overloading your router with P2P taking all the bandwidth. Else give it a restart. Just my 0.02

just feel 5mb is not enough for home user if you're a heavy down loader...plan to upgrade to 10 or 20mb
*
They won't let you to do it that way. If that's what you can do, now everyone go upgrade to 20M to use for 3 months then after that all downgrade back. That's hell a lot of work for them to set the cap and reset the cap back after 3 months. There's no free lunch under the sun laugh.gif

I've been busy for quite some time. This thread seems to be quite active still. laugh.gif Nice one, rattan~

*Currently my Unifi connects to my laptop thru wireless. Now, I'm adding up a desktop, how can I set the modem router to my desktop ? Will be using LAN for desktop, cos prolly going to add two or three more desktops. So i need a stable connection for desktops, laptop nvm la...

What else I need to get now ?
*
Which router you having? Black or Orange? Nevermind, that doesn't matter much. On your router, either the black or the orange, you should see two LAN cables connected to them. One in yellow colour, another in red colour. Just don't touch any of these, you can just connect your PC to the router by plugging into any of the remaining(should be 3 remaining) LAN Ports. The default setup, the yellow LAN is connected to the modem on the WAN Port while the red LAN is connected to the RED PORT (LAN4 or LAN1, can't remember). Any other ports you can just use to connect to internet. The one in red, even if you don't need IPTV, you can't just unplug it and plug in another cable to your PC and get it to work for internet unless you did some configuration in the router. Hope you understand what I tried to tell you laugh.gif

QUOTE(SkyHermit @ Apr 24 2012, 02:12 PM)
what future responsibility? like what?
*
When your name is on the bill, as the applicant, TM register you as their customer. Anything goes wrong with this account, you bear full responsibility. Late payment? No payment? Blacklisting you(due to refuse to pay/not paying for extended period of time)? Law suit(sending you lawyer's letter for late payment/refusing to pay)? Early termination (penalty since you signed for two years contract)? Etc etc, all this will be done on you, not your friends. They bear no responsibility at all. In near future, if Malaysia Gov decides to filter and disallow all the P2P thing and passed the law on restricting internet users, monitoring for any sensitive comment made online or anything, if they track down the IP or anything, they'll know it's your internet account that's doing such activity (no matter who's the one using but it's from your account). You might get fined, blocked access or etc etc.
The later part is not 100% confirmed situation. Just said it might happen in near future. Oh ya... Heard few of them said here, TM is now having external agent to push customers to get their debt cleared asap. Just take more precaution. However, no doubt unifi is still the cheapest internet solution, even with the quota implemented, considering the speed, stability and the overcharging of all those mobile broadbands.

hey guys we need to change how many passwords in total? heard there is this operator acc, admin acc, den ur own personal acc for unifi router 2 prevent unauthorised hackers stealing ur connection.
*
operator account, admin account, personal account for unifi login, etc etc
But seriously, I only changed the router password. Don't bother to change unifi password since my unifi is 24/7 on time. People want steal also cannot biggrin.gif Besides that, the password is god damn long. If the technician who have all the password want steal, also won't choose my VIP5 to steal, sure use those VIP20 or BIZ20 one la laugh.gif

QUOTE(Lord_Ashe @ Apr 25 2012, 12:27 PM)
Hi guys.

Need some help. Since yesterday unifi in my area was down, which TM since said is rectified, but I couldnt connect the entire day. I am using an Asus RT13U to replace the stock router. Been using for almost a year with no problem. So today I tried connecting using the DIR615 again and it worked when the Asus mysteriously wouldn't. I would love to use the Asus as it's more stable and works better for my PS3 gaming. Anyone have any pointers?
*
Connect back also won't work? If you only need the ASUS for wireless AP, i think you can just connect LAN to LAN to hook them up onto same LAN, disable DHCP in Asus. it should work. But the dialing is still handled by DIR615.

My router and modem is upstairs
I got very poor signal downstairs, sometimes cant even connect. My old streamyx 1mb is even better.

So how can i solve this? Pay much more but get crappy wireless signal
*
So you still got your old router/wireless modem? If yes, just go into the router page (normal 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.0), search for the default password online (assuming that you never touch it before, if you know how to deal with the router, then just skip this), get into the DHCP page, disable it. Now, take a LAN cable and connect LAN port on your OLD router/modem to the one of the empty port on your NEW ROUTER (either the black one or the d-link dir-615 orange one), just plug them into any of the YELLOW PORT labelled as LANX (LAN1,2,3,...). Now you should get your wifi signal back thumbup.gif

Sarawak already roll out. Just a small part of it. I think some part in kuching already got. Heard my mum said my aunty said her friend installed Unifi, got some area got (Seriously, I don't believe, maybe they misinterpret something else as unifi...) Anyway, it's coming soon, 1~2 more years and it should roll out in many places in sarawak.

Hey dude, I'm having pretty much the same problem. The line keeps disconnecting. It's been a little more than 2 weeks now. I can't complain to TM since the line is under my friend name.

It's really driving me crazy. It keeps disconnecting every 5 mins. Although I can use the internet after 20secs, it still annoying that this happens frequently.
*
Why you can't?? You can complain... They won't ask you all the details pun. If they insist, just bluff la. But they won't... Coz everytime I complain for my streamyx at home, it's registered under my mum's name but I call them frequently enough that they know my surname. I don't think that's a problem. They just won't ask you to tell your full name or IC etc. Just ring them up. Mind you, the call is not free using their phone doh.gif

QUOTE(AlOnE89 @ Apr 30 2012, 10:06 PM)
Hey guys, sorry for interruption, new users here and wanna ask question about modem sad.gif

May I know what modem model do they give for recent subscribers?
The subcontractor gave me Alcatel Lucent code:i-240g-p, which I only found out recently that it was quite an old model :S

I've faced quite a hiccup on my connection especially playing ps3 games, and even some times, loading webpages also slow like snail..
is it related with the modem?

For your info, the modem spoiled once and show red light on "optical" indicator, and so we ask the contractor to fix it.
They wanna change the modem for us at 1st, but i'm not sure why they didn't do that eventually, and they tell us, if next time we call them again, they will charge us money
(I was like wtf? the line isn't smooth until now ever since the 1st day, shouldn't you guys need to bear with that?)

So any advice please? sad.gif
What I wish to know are:
1) Is my modem model an old one AKA i kena conned
2) Do I really have to pay them since.. it's like their fault :S

Thank you in advance!
*
doh.gif doh.gif Why you call the contractor? They take TM money to help you install. Anything after that you should find TM mah doh.gif doh.gif Especially when the contractor is external contractor. You call them after that, it's like a private service by them for you, confirm want charge you la laugh.gif laugh.gif
Anyway, just call TM. They will send their own technician (normally) instead if it's just to replace equipment or anything.

I only need them come for one time laugh.gif and that's like almost one year back. He came just to unplug the lan cable and plug it back in shocking.gif shocking.gif yes, seriously... the installer plug the lan cable into the wrong port and I don't know about that at the time sweat.gif Oh... He came on public holiday/weekend (can't remember clearly, I just know it's a no school day, either is public holiday or sunday) Quite efficient for me in my "only" experience

If the ping and speed is fine, just don't care about it. Else, try fiddle with the wifi settings. Transmit power, wireless channel etc. But don't over-mess it else you don't know how to configure it back. Go to management page and save a copy of configuration before you kacau anything. wink.gif

Need help here.

Trying to figure out why when i connect my ZTE modem cable to WAN port at my new Asus RTN13U, it will state that "You have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address for your RT-N13U".

I did follow exactly the settings in current stock TM black router and settings for unifi which kinda of straight foward.

LAN for N13U i set to 192.168.0.1
DHCP also the same range.

But it still say the same error message. This N13U i set as router with PPOE for unifi. Do i need to change anything on modem side?
*
Do you have the firmware needed for unifi? Means the customised firmware.
