if i choose one lens among those, 70-200 without a doubt.
if 2 lenses, 14-24 and 70-200.

he's on a DX, 70-200mm he will have to stand on his chair to get a photo of the food, and 20 ft away or more to get full portrait pic ! but on FX its a different story.......

well hes got no 50mm in his office to borrow.
technically the best choice would be the 18-200 set to 50-80mm for full length, but if the 70-200 is in there and he can choose that, by all means go take that tongue.gif
i'm not a fan of using wide angles for any form of portraits due to distortion.

I'd agree with the 18-200. It's the most versatile of the bunch. If you went with the others, you would need at least 2 lenses like previously mentioned. In other news, somewhat cute girl.

if you can choose 2 lens it would be
12-24mm
18-200mm

if just 1 lens, then 12-24mm, then crop the pictures since you have the 16mp sensor

but my suggestion would be the 16-85mm, you wont regret it

ya only 1 lens. 12-24 mm? will have a look with that 1.

you can do close up shot with 70-200, but you might need to stand at a distance with your subject

heres my take.
since u can only take 1 lens, ideally will be 18-200.
but 70-200 most likely later u will want.
so just take the 70-200 from office, and take out abit of money around RM700 and go buy urself a 35mm 1.8G.

then u can do everything, with better image quality than 18-200 can offer.

cool. anyway, that guy told me there is a typo with 18-200. it is a DX or cropped lens.

also, able to loan 14-24mm(many good reviews on it) for next weekend too rclxm9.gif

I love my 16-85 though it is not a fast lens like 17-55 f2.8 or even the monster 70-200 f2.8.
It still works wonders for me. A pretty good all rounder even though it can't go to 200mm like 18-200. smile.gif
I'll just fund myself for 55-300 or 70-300 in the future, enough dy.

How much is ur budget hihihehe? Can get anything with no max budget ah? tongue.gif
To be frank, for product/food photog, 18-55 is pretty good. perhaps u can add in stuff like flash, macro ring flash, macro/close up filter, remote trigger, flash trigger, tripod and others. I mean, I would rather have something like below and add in other helpful stuffs.

As for lens (I dunno ur budget ..) :
18-55 (u alrdy got this right) + 55-300 = RM ~1-1.2k
16-85 + 55-300 = RM ~2.2-2.4k (hv to buy two lenses)
17-55 f2.8 + 50 f1.8G = RM costs a bomb on the 17-55 and hv to buy 2 lenses though .. tongue.gif
18-55 + Tamron SP AF90 = RM1.3k
or u can get 35 f1.8G also if u want. Well, my suggestion above doesnt include a cool wide angle lens yet though... laugh.gif

Added on April 18, 2012, 9:58 amforgot to add, 18-105mm! That's pretty gud for a start too!

What are your insights on dry boxes?

I have been a small one for about 3years now. since last year I saw that RH% is always close to 55%. Does these things need servicing or maintenance? Its analog meter. I wonder how accurate is it.. Hmm..
