Is it anyone from lolyat?

LOL I never like to use my original straps that comes with the camera body. All my original straps are never used. My D300 and D700 (as with D800 too) straps are still unused. Still in wraps in the box like the day I got it.

Yeah, one thing I like a lot is details. I love to see DETAILS!
And the power of the sensor in enabling one to capture all the details and resolution makes you feel the money invested in expensive glass money well spent.
Yes, exactly. Something like trying to see what kind of details your current lens lineup can resolve. Surprising that my "old" 135mm f/2 and 85mm f/1.4D can still do. Screw driven lenses are quite snappy and lively on the D800.

I read, you need to switch it on thru liveview but after that you can shoot it thru viewfinder and it will detect the face, which is great with backlit situation.
I need to RTFM one of these days when I'm on the throne (toilet bowl).

hehe, I seriously don't bother with fps. I shoot single shot mode all the time on my D700. Frankly, never once used CL or CH on the D700 for shooting(use it just to test it works

). So I really can't relate to the fuss of 4fps is too slow etc by all the ppl.

I keep it on CH but I burst 2 or 3 at most depending. Useful especially in situations when you cannot communicate with your Thai subjects to do this and that post or tell them to repeat that position since the first frame was accidentally cropped off the head / hand...

or maybe it already auto detect faces without doing anything. Does it frame the face when you playback the pictures?
No. In playback mode, you can just view the focus point you used.

oh. . .apparently need to be in AF-C and Auto-area AF for it to work

wow. . . some even says no more the need of focus and recompose!!!
I think you still need to. The AF focus layout is similar to D700 and it's concentrated in the middle.

One thing that makes me perk up is the fact that you mention of downsizing a 36mp camera to 12mp. Please pardon my ignorance but why wouldayone want to do that? Why don't just get the D7000 then?
Depends on who's using the D800... You're a working professional. Most people are serious enthusiast and likelihood of WANTING to print 36MP is not something you would want on a daily basis.
It's just like having a Lambo for your daily drive. Not so convenient with maintenance, pot holes etc but nice to have. If someone says, hey let's head for the track, you'd won't be out of place !

errr...i thought its normal?

70200 only wor...not 300 or 400mm

Yup. Some people are armed with handholding the 300mm f/2.8.
QUOTE(Everdying @ Apr 14 2012, 10:59 PM)
ya 70-200 small lens.
on friday i saw some tryhard with a sigma and it looked like a 100-300 f/2.8.
If it's a Sigma, it's 120-300mm f/2.8. 100-300mm is an f/4 only lens.

haha..ya..jawsus is still using his sony...and if you look clearly..that is sony's 70-200..not canon 1
If not wrong, Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 SSG lens is still the most expensive 70-200mm lens compared to other manufacturers.
