Can you be a little bit more specific on the term "working field"?

I believe working overseas as a fresh grad depends more on your connection that your qualification, unless you are top of your class or you come from an elite school.

As far as I know, not every place would accept ACCA.. Some of them they require u to at least get a Degree in order to work for them...

I don't think so unless you're in a completely non-accounting field eg sales & marketing, insurance broker, teacher etc.

As I said, it all depends on the nature of the positions advertised. For all the non-accounting positions eg sales & marketing, administrator, banking etc, off course the employers need the candidates to have a degree relevant to the positions advertised.

Prof qualifications like ACCA or CIMA are purely meant for those who want to pursue a career in accounting. If someone wants to pursue a career in for example, stock broking or real estate, then what's the point of studying ACCA....it will be a complete waste.

Having said that, because of the 'kiasuness' of the employers in Spore, they will always prefer grad from their local uni in all professions eg engineering, accounting, law etc.

Guys, whats the point of getting of OBU since I'll getting my ACCA cert also??
*
OBU = academic degree

ACCA = professional qualification (not an academic degree)

Professional qualification prepares one to work in the working world.

An academic degree prepares one for critical thinking and writing, analytical writing...etc, which are meant for postgraduate studies. That's why if one study an accounting degree in a university, you will notice that there are lot of assignment questions and research being handed out to students.

If you want to apply to study for a postgraduate degree (Masters and above), you need to have a degree cert. Some universities do not allow one to use ACCA as a pre-requisite qualification to apply for Masters courses. I have asked this before. So, no choice but to do OBU.

Some business school do recognise ACCA, such as Imperial College for their MBA. If you're looking for an MBA, not Msc, Mphil or Phd, working experience will be sufficient.

Hi, anyone of you ever attended Spencer Cheah IRC P2 Classes at FTMS? Is the class crowded like in KSA? I am thinking of going for IRC but somehow I always got demotivated when class is overcrowded.

hi, i heard that if we are studying in gov institution we will get lesser hands on or experience, is that true?
btw to obtain a degree in ipta takes longer time? is it all ipta requires 4 years to complete bachelor of accountancy?
how do u feel of taking the ACCA paper? is it very tough? what does it requires? thx for helping

Hi, actually my personal view is, study in uni will hv much better exposure in term of skills development. As every single subject we will hv presentation, group n individually, assignment group n individual as well. All these will help to develop your soft skills. Else as compared to if u study Acca or lcci or cat, u ll just focus on class lecture n then exam. Correct me if I were wrong. Tot studying local uni will much longer, but I never regret for it. As at least I'm degree holder n guarantee to have MIA after three years of working experience. Indeed I could just don't further taking Acca. But I chose to
Continue study Acca after grad. Becoz future things we will never know, who knows one day I plan to go oversea n work? Haha. Currently I'm going to sit for my last paper this June. Acca is not
Easy I would say, but thanks God that bless me and I passed all papers at first attempt, as I used to self study and didn't attend lecture class as I don't take any bonds. Hopefully I pass this coming last paper too. If you r confident you could hit the Acca down, then u can take Acca course straight, as it s really time
Saving. But just to let you know, I been seeing quite number of my Frds who have no degree, and need to pass Acca before they could obtain Mia qualification. And they failed for few times and spent for additional few years. In conclusion, there is pro n cons

any affiliate got purchased the certificate by MYACCA after they passed all the papers?

Nowadays ACCA doesn't issue any completion certificate for free anymore while require $20 pounds for the issuance of the cert.

We can print out the certificate of completion of level 3 by myacca, I just wonder the $20 pound certificate is it same to this?

Please be advised that the Professional Level Certificate will be issued at the end of March and dispatched thereafter.

Please note that ACCA no longer issue the affiliate certificates, however a letter confirming your affiliate status will be posted within 4-6 weeks.
