Please don't do the easy way of applying by using one email and c.c to 1000 companies.

Instead of sitting back and wait, go get some work experience in smaller companies who are in the business.

Sorry, no meaning of encouraging people to do it the easiest way as I myself also understand how tough it could be of being called up for an interview. Effort is needed. What i mean is for those who would like to enter O&G field, DO NOT ENTER if you are with the intention of just thinking of getting high pay. Just some advice, think what suit you the most and where exactly does your passion lying in before applying for jobs. Instead of becoming a trend follower, why dont you choose to become a pioneer. this industry does pay well but doesnt mean you get paid buta2 big money from day 1...big paycheck = big responsibilities and = big work.bkn duduk goyang kaki wait the bloody oil to spurt out from the sea bed.

oil workers ive met thus far all said same thing along the lines "ong is 24/7" you work and work and work.

big paycheck = big responsibilities

an example: part of job is need approved and ensure the facilities is well protected, safe, well-evacuate from oil & gas fire harzard, then get it approve by Classification and Authority.. Future Safety, Fire Control, Evacuation and Muster Plan of 60-200 person on board is on your hand.. put your name and signature on it.. your name and signature will be there (for 10-20 years) as there gonna frame it at each level of accommodation.. thumbup.gif

Hi guys.

There's this website called oilcareers.com that posts a lot of O&G career opportunities. When I browse the job openings in Malaysia, most of the job ads are posted by world global recruitment agencies such as Leap29, WRS, Sofomation, etc2. I'm not really familiar with these global recruitment agencies since most advice is to apply directly through company's website, ads in newspaper or career fair. Do you guys have any experience applying for jobs through these agencies? Are they legit?

haha..actually bnyk kawan saya pun masuk kerana lumayanya gaji nya $$$$  icon_idea.gif  brows.gif  but im wondering, really does O & G pay dat high, i see some ppl posted in LYN forum that they can get 11-12k salary as fresh grad.wow!!
*
I can assure you that is just a myth. Fresh graduate is a liability is most cases and no company in their right mind will pay near that amount. In some special cases where cronism rules like the NFC (famous cow company), the boss elect their family members as directors and pay RM20-30k pm each. brows.gif Then someone will say cow industry is the best paid.

It is not a myth. I have a couple of friends who earn big bucks with just a year experience in the industry. Off course I'm talking about the offshore guys. I won't name names of the company, suffice to say they are working in a niche specialization within OnG industry. icon_rolleyes.gif

Agree.

Everyone needs to be passionate and do it because it is in the blood and not because it brings food onto the table. For the freshies, during interview you will be asked what positive steps have you made to differentiate yourself from the thousands applying for the same post. Sitting down at home browsing this website has its limits to helping you. Be proactive and offer yourself as intern to subcontractors or suppliers if you cannot get a position in a bigger company.
