QUOTE(figuremeout @ May 22 2012, 06:25 PM) agree and i personally think that some of the forumers@so called otai here blindly assumed everyone wants to be spoonfed. this thread has become a place to brag about their experience and shut down new comers. I personally don't feel like people here to brag about this and that. Generally, I find people here are quite friendly. If you go to Real World Issue, they are more "hostile". Haha. Anyway, newcomers should take this "virtual pressure" as opportunity to learn on how to handle real pressure on the field. It is a good exercise on how to deal with people.

Dear All, Recently the hottest topics besides Petronas-BASF RM 60bil RAPID project, another one could be the merger of SapuraCrest and Kencana Petroleum. They even came out with a new website. Anybody here kind enough to share or know what is the next step of this big player? Noticed that MMHE already has their yard occupied, rumours saying Kencana might be able to win all those coming up fabrication projects. Is that true? And also may I know what is the role of the Lumut yard? Also fabricating offshore structures? Appreciate all the feedback and opinion from all sifus

QUOTE(Frenzy0412 @ May 22 2012, 02:01 PM) i got interview from sbm. anyone can tell me bout sbm? like benefit, working environment and etc.. Thanks May I know you are applying for which position? In term of benefit, SBM has what others MNC company have such as medical coverage, medical leave, annual leave and contractual 1 month bonus at end of the year. Performance bonus is about 3-4 months every year. Working environment very systematic as SBM is one of pioneer in the FPSO industry. However, it is not benefit well for fresh graduate as your scope of work is not multitasking. For engineering department, mostly you will only station in the office. This place is good for hard work multitasking experience guy who want to cool down a little bit. This post has been edited by abgkik: May 23 2012, 05:22 AM

Appreciate all the feedback and opinion from all sifus From my very limited knowledge, sapura kencana will be a full EPCIC contractor, so they'll be able to provide end to end service to their clients. KNPG-B had just been loaded out from MMHE with Telok and Tapis coming soon, so there'll be space in MMHE yard. However, I'm not sure if they've secured any new projects. From hearsay, they've got a few coming in. They've also acquired Sime Darby yard.

I dont need people's respect, up to you, NOT MY PROBLEM! and which question I dont want to answer? This is why O&G operators have such strict recruitment process to stream out people like this. Attitude of "not my problem" shows that the person is not a team player and have no teamwork skills. Working offshore with people like this is a hazard due to ignorance and careless attitude. Main reason why operators have policies like "You See, You Act" not "You See, NOT MY PROBLEM".

I got what you mean sir, but please dont judge myself based on this post only, this fella out of nowhere come out with a post that im the most brag and vainglorious person in this thread... "not my problem" and "its your problem" i seldom heard it from my boss, you have to understand the situation, dont just simply accuse me that i have an attitude problem

QUOTE(ltykor @ May 23 2012, 10:00 AM) Thank you for your information! why so curious? well can always read up the news on The Star biz for a general overview http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...50&sec=business(also click on related articles at the bottom of article for other latest news on SapuraKencana). Also keep in touch with what other companies are doing as SapuraKencana will also be working together w others too (for example Bekok-C, KPNG-B, that i kinda know of. I'm still a noob). http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f.../20120522164811http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...siness/11342041This post has been edited by echobrainproject: May 23 2012, 10:23 AM

I don't think the merge between Sapura and Kencana will guarantee them projects. As far as I know, the merge will expand their capabilities (and capital) in tackling much bigger and challenging projects. As for MHB (fka MMHE), PETRONAS holds minor share in the company. So, there should be some projects for MHB too. As of now, there are only these 2 big local fabricators in Malaysia. Last time we have SDE and Ramunia, but both are no longer in the market. I heard there is one tycoon in telco wants to venture into O&G too. Already had the company listed in US stock board - not very sure tho coz I only heard this from someone.
And to add, it also depends on clients whether they want things to be fabricated in Malaysia or not. There is this one project, client opted to open the tender to international fabricators because one of those 2 big local fabricators gave them a really high price during budgetary stage. So, not sure whether international or local will win the project.

Due to the leakages, inefficiencies and mediocre management of the lucrative fabrication and ship yard business there will come a time when Dialog or Muhibag will be able to catch up with the big boys. MMHE is partly managed by Technip now so there is a slight hope. In comparison with the Singaporean and Korean yards, we are nose to nose at the finish line but few laps behind.
