QUOTE(paradox @ Mar 14 2012, 03:08 PM) They will ask about your knowledge about planning some project. Basically if you from fresh grad, they will ask how your plan for your FYP. still considered fresh grad, even though I have 8 months working experience. Mind PM-ing me their offered salary? Ive applied to a few oil and gas companies. |

Hmm. Kencana just called. starting about Rm2.3k fresh grad (im alright being considered fresh grad even though i got working experience in other non oil and gas operation). To add on I'm a first class student in uni and have achieved a number of awards. So is 2.3k below the market rate?

QUOTE(noruazumi @ Mar 20 2012, 01:59 PM) I think you should turn down the offer. RM2.3k is like the salarY of a fresh engineer in subcontractor company. Thats what I feel. Oil and gas is exciting but alot of hard work and that i totally understand. But at 2.3k im thinking because of the long hours+offshore travelling when a stable office engineering job in kl, 5 days a week, can offer me 2.8k to above 3+k with benefits. If I accept it itll be simply because of the job, not the pay. |

Yeah I wish its easier to say i'll do it for the experience, but in a way the pay matters to a certain extent too. Thats why slight dilemma.

very general. talk about yourself. then interviewer will ask questions about my background, what i do in my current job, and a quick browse at paper qualifications. then explains to me job function and the company. more of a discussion since i asked about the job scope, career development etc.

QUOTE(eandi @ Mar 20 2012, 03:24 PM) [ edited names out to keep their privacy ] ? Mustve been you la. Who else was around to interview on Sat. I also thought you (interviewer) mentioned recalling it to be 2.5k. But if now lower even more to 2.3k, then a little hard. This post has been edited by echobrainproject: Mar 20 2012, 04:01 PM |

My interviewer doesnt have any say on the pay. He is nice and quite frank (which I'd sincerely appreciate as someone applying for a job).
Actually met another senior person in the company during the weekend seems nice too but he has been there for quite a while and not under Pinewell. |

QUOTE(eandi @ Mar 20 2012, 03:51 PM) For Fresh Grad should get RM2.5k...not less..Plus u got construction experience right? If you interviewed me, shouldnt you know? What post did they offer you?Which Department?Contract or Permanent? Also I doubt @eandi is my interviewer. Communication style is very different. (but then, this is LYN, and interviews are formal). Background checks doesnt quite match up too. @eandi mentioned where he was working 4 years ago. DIdnt quite match the background of my interviewer from my research (yes, I found out about his career, uni results, etc before going for the interview). And if he really was, @eandi is applying for Petronas as he said he is going to increase his expected salary during the S.I for Petronas This post has been edited by echobrainproject: Mar 20 2012, 04:13 PM |

QUOTE(eandi @ Mar 20 2012, 04:24 PM) Wahh..u research me haaa...Maybe i'm not the interviewer..but i used to interview some of the Engineer level.. haha. Thanks for the advice. Can I quote you the next time HR calls me? jk It seems that u will be Pinewell right?..My 2cents advice, try to get RM2.5K, even at Lumut Yard the standard is RM2.5k..There offer u as a Planner? It's a quite good job and u can get a high salary after 5 years.. |
