@TheEvilMan

Not to get anyone agitated but I read your previous replies and your statement was rather confusing as well. Here's it is in full view - no change from the original post.

"it's replaced because eventually u still have to do replacement, which probably end of this month when HLBB totally took over, and all Eon Bank Account number will change from 13 digits to 11 too to fit their system. The credit card from HLBB is clearly a replacement because after it's activated the old card details and left over debt are all transferred over to the new system."

You have a rather aggressive reply to everyone here thus you invoked a aggressive response to your post as well. That's a fact. (Aggressive replies are my specialty ... ask anyone here and they'll agree) As mentioned, yours is rather a funny situation, so you need to check it out in depth with the bank. We are in no position to advise you with pinpoint precision as to do so ... we need to see your cc account statement over the last 3-6 months and any letters which supposed your card replacement. (I am not kaypoh but the B&W info is an indisputable evidence to help us) Otherwise there're probable gaps which we couldn't see thus will only offend you again if we can't help you with the correct solution.

Plenty of senior contributors here thus I believe they know what they are talking about.
There are also EON card holders in here as well and they are puzzled with what you are saying - they did mentioned no problem on their side which is likely (though it was answered in a no hold barred manner). Of course you have a problem and the answer did not help you.

If you were to contact BNM, they'll ask you for all the evidences that I mentioned because the evidence will speak for itself.
Again ... if you are not happy with my answer, you are free to criticize or report me. I did not solve your problem but hopefully my comments will help you find the right way/solution.
*
Just to chip in, agree with hye that question poster should get BNM involved. Banks normally take their sweet time and 'bully' ignorant customers. If you take the right approach you can resolve bank issues within weeks (no need to wait till 4th month then only post in the www)
Btw to question poster, bank merger, acct merging, bank system integration etc are much more complex than what was assumed. If you are not having any knowledge in it then just act as how you shld be, don't try and assume and get yourself confused.

Let's see if I get this right. It means $200 will be charged first to my card (will appear in card statement) and 2 weeks before check-in, the balance will be charged (will appear in card statement). And no swipe is required during check-in?

Got.. the full payment.. so you can't do any last minute cancellation..

To summarise...

You need a deposit to secure your booking (which is non-refundable)
2 weeks prior to your arrival, you must make full payment (the remaining balance minus the above deposit) to your hotel booking else the deposit above will be eaten by them..
On the day of check in, you will need to swipe RM200 as deposit which will be fully refunded should they find nothing wrong with their room at the point of checking out.. Clear? rclxub.gif

So first $200 deposit will appear first, then remaining balance. I havent get any notification yet, so I assume they not yet process it.

As for the remaining balance, stated they will process on their own and will only contact me if got problem with my card.

An email will be sent to the email address provided with an updated confirmation once the balance is taken from the credit card.

No worries, and thanks for the explanation biggrin.gif

I dont follow your previous posts but it depends on the hotel which function they use..

For Hotels (usually) they have Pre-Authorisation functions which they use it to "lock/reserve" the amount of credit from ur card for 2 reason, 1 for making sure u have enough money in card and 1 for "room rate + deposit" they add together.
eg. room rate RM200 + RM100 deposit they will do pre-auth RM300.
The receipt will be shown as "Pre Auth" instead of normal "SALE" that u see..

And on the checkout day they will have to do an "Offline Sale" (the correct way) by using the previous receipt transaction number, without the need of your physical card, and the amount will be RM200..
After they done offline sale and settlement at the end of the day, the previously locked RM300 will be released and the real amount RM200 be charged to your card..

However, if some cashier just lazy to do "offline sale" and they ask for your physical card and perform a normal "SALE" then your card will be charged at that amount, and your locked RM300 will still be locked until 7-14 days then only be released..

Hard to understand?

What happen if the PRE-AUTHORISATION amount is insufficient ? Would the cashier need the physical card ?

What do u mean insufficient?

If your card available limit is RM200 and cashier tried to do pre-auth RM500, it will probably declined.
Then u have to use another card..

Let's say upon check-in the PRE-AUTHORISE RM5,000 to your card.
When check-out, the whole bill is RM7000, does the cashier perform OFFLINE SALES for RM5000 and physical new swipe at RM2500 ?

Hmm...

They still do offline sale with the new amount, and it will definitely go thru coz its "offline" means no dialling to bank for verification.
Your card statement then will be billed above the credit limit (overlimit charges applies for some banks), or u can clear up some of ur credit so it wont go above limit.

But this scenario rarely happens coz usually if u extend your stay, u will have to goto the front desk and give ur card to them for another pre-auth.

I dont ..
For the "Pre-Authorisation functions which they use it to lock/reserve the amount of credit", there will be no record from our side (wont appear in statement/no sms alert)?

I encountered this with MBB CC many many years ago in early 2000's

Let's say CL = 5k
I used up 2k, balance 3k CL

Check in hotel, pre-deposit/authorise ~500 (after currency conversion) at hotel reception.
Theoretical CL balance = 3k-500 = 2.5k

Check out time, need to swipe 2.7k. Cannot go through.
Finally have to call bank for temporary CL increase to swipe.

But checking online same day, the CL used is 2k + 2.7k = 4.7k only.
Yet my CL was temporary increased to 5.5-6k.

Not sure about latest calculation. But I suppose it may still be the same.
