Blackburn universal bike rack. It looks like it mounts on the axle hubs. Seems like a very practical way for putting a rack on my eyelet-free bike.

Because my search for p-clips have been fruitless (ace hardware je blom pergi) i am thinking about buying this rack from amazon. Anyone of you guys have bought from amazon? how does the shipping and tax usually cost? is it expensive to ship to malaysia?

And what other secure online stores do you guys buy your stuff from? Do you guys buy online?

Hi riders. Wanna ask u guys. I plan to ride to work. Do we have any bike storage facility within KLCC area that we could securely park our bike? Reason being my office building mgmt provided lousy unsecure bike park and doesnt allow me to park my bike in my office  sad.gif
*
You can park at KLCC parking..sometimes I saw one roadbike parked there..belongs to a Caucasian male..my friend sometimes parked his MTB there as well.

Haven't seen any bicycles parked there anymore, I'm not sure wether it is allowed or not these days. Give the management a call for confirmation. Park at P1 as they have guards there for a peace of mind.

as long as you don't ride an expensive bike to work.. i think it won't be giving you that much of a worry..

just get a long spiral lock that can loop your frame, front and rear wheels and make sure you have no quick releases on your seat post...

even if there is dedicated space and security guards... it is still not safe as the security guards would not be standing by your bike watching it every minute...

my friend got his car boot forcefully opened (not even smashed window) in KLCC underground parking for leaving his laptop in his car boot... no one even knows or seen he left it in there and he parked it quite near to the escalators which should be more busier with car park patrons walking in and out...you can imagine how quick they have it done...

Oh ya.. I wanna know if there's spacer in between your crank / pedal?

Another bike shop actually asked why the shop i buy my bike from did not put spacer for the crank / pedal in between them...
*
a very thin shim (generally around 0.5mm) to protect carbon arms, yes... a spacer, no...

if your intentions is trying to increase your q factor... then it's the right direction, but be careful with the pedal you use... if not, don't see the point in putting spacers... even if there are spacers, it should be no thicker than 2mm last i seen it...

any longer would be this type, custom milled but still looks un-safe to me...
user posted image

you have to be sure that your pedal is able to tolerate a spacer in the first place as there is 2 big concerns... putting in a spacer in between the crank arm will increase the stress on the spindle and the arm where the pedal threads in. As the spacer takes up the threads, you will be threading the pedal in lesser compared to a pedal without spacers...

ask them what is the point of the spacer and what sort of spacer are they talking about....

did i see a very funny looking crank... looks like missing 1 spider arm...

that should be the 11s model that would be launched with 2013 DA... haven't announce and by the time it reaches our shores... it'd be another 6 months...

beware they might pull an "iphone 4s" on you and launch a 10s 2013 DA first... then 3 months down the road comes 11s DA and screw with you cry.gif

Thanks but with all those quik release stuff, i'bet the risk is high. With the following article http://www.mmail.com.my/story/kuala-lumpur...e-friendly-city, i hope we have young entrepreneur to come up with this similar http://www.bikepark.com.au/
The service is new i guess but what i know it could be categorised under tourism or community service which the government has funds allocated via development financial institutions, DFI - i refer to our government and DFIs biggrin.gif

on the axles? practical mounting it, not so when you are faced with a flat and having to unload everything off the rack to dismount the wheel...

amazon might not be sending everything they listed to malaysia.. you have to check their delivery countries and tax is always a question mark...

best to try ebay and you can ask if the seller can mark it as gift, higher chance of avoiding taxation... but, generally low value items like this is not as easy to get taxed....

the china taobao would be the next choice.. cheap but troublesome and you have to know how to read chinese... after that, you need a middleman in malaysia to help you get the items and ship it over to malaysia...

ebay, best bet...

is your bike foldable? or those roadbike / mountain bike?

It's suck when management prohibits you to park your bike in office. You can request you take ur bike up to office via service lift.

It's very important that your "Cycle2work" practice is supported by your boss, where your boss can pressure building management.

If your building is GREEN building status, you have much stronger reason fight for your need.

they jus dun want people lugging a dirty and drippy bike into the office... sometimes you have to be on the other end to view the problem as well...

bringing the bike into the office is actually not the best of ideas... storage space being a problem and cleanliness being the other... imagine someone rode his bike over a mud puddle or a pool of dog shit... you wouldn't like to seat beside his bike...

i use service elevators too.. but sometimes, it is just too much of a fuss waiting for people to be unloading and loading off the lifts which could take some time, especially when you are in a hurry...

best if the building has a dedicated bike parking slot outside of the building to encourage people to commute to work and this will solve the problem for both sides...

who cares on small items... if you post their cost price maybe offending then la... not like you intentionally post to hurt them or post fake prices to challenge them..

where in melawati?? my dry teflon finishing soon... nathan? batu caves is sammy?

must tarpau all the dry teflon i see since finish line is getting more rare and rare nowadays...

orbea and rodalink is getting pricey for finish line...

connections is important in bike shop... that's why i always stress the relationship with your bike shop is important...  give and take a bit and it is beneficial for you in the long run...

try hopping all over the place to get the best deal and save a couple of bucks.. and you will know what i mean when your bike lands in trouble...
*
Tmn Melawati, just nearby the post office, Bike World is the name if i'm not wrong. sold me RM30 as the last 2 there. not sure they will re-stock o not.

Yes, Batu Caves is Sammy have lot of DRY finish line. he did not carry WET as he said his customers complains its attract dirt very fast... i got dry from him, sold me RM35...!

btw, Rodalink have almost whole range of Finish Line with beautiful rack on display...

btw, I'm going to try alternative option on lubricant using ATF oil (Auto Transmission Fluid) as suggested by others in group. Cons is chain will become darker.....

is that the bigger 4oz bottle or the smaller 2oz bottle... cos the price is kinda stuck in the midlde...

i remember getting the 2oz bottle for as little as RM28, can't remember where and as high as RM30...

ATF? don't seem like a good choice.. 85W-90 is too viscous i think ... if you try fully synthetic 0-20w, it might turn out better...

what i worry is that it is too thick that it will not penetrate the roller and pins...

Morgan Blue is good.At 1st I was a bit scared to try anonymous product on my bike, but after a while, cleaning is easier than ever.Spray it to your chain and cassette and everything will look like a brand new bike.
