the whole race was centered around not letting the world champ win...all the teams was jus too busy marking GB and GB too busy trying to wiggle away from them.. ultimately stupid enough to let the 22 escapees run off and unable to chase them back...

GB should have used Cav as a decoy and let someone else from the team win...

whether it is good or not??? it is hard to be subjective and fair since neither of us here actually owns the bike or in fact any of it's direct competitor models...

but generally, bikes at this price range are already good bikes if not the best this much money can get you... the question is if this is better than another model or say, something like a tarmac expert or tarmac elite from specialized? and if it offers as much value in other words a good buy from your point of view?

that and aesthetics aside.. the other very critical question is relating to you, yourself... is this bike a good bike for you? taking into accounts whether you are looking for a flatland speed machine or a ultra stiff climbing rig? is the fit and geometry what you have in mind?

anything said at this point will be a very vague answer for you either ways since we have never sneak a ride on it before... reading the bike review by independent owners and bike magz would help take out some guess work for you... never based your decisions on reviews.. always test it out yourself..

looking at something i know more closer would be the BMC Road Racer... just a shade under RM10k spec'ed almost the same.. the road racer at this point of comparison costs a whole RM1k more if based on the direct currency conversion of USD2819... while road racer is 4th tier from the top, the altamira is 2nd or 3rd from the top depending on whether there is any difference in the team replica frames...

a 3rd tier from BMC, the Race Machine spec'ed with SRAM red on the other hand costs a whopping RM14k i guess...

so, from paper specs.. it looks like the altamira is a bargain buy without factoring in the ride qualities...

you must have specific reasons you are interested in this bike... best to still go and see it for yourself and the other models from other shops within your budget range...

hopefully, you already have an idea of what bike you want since the bikes now are overly complicated and other than performance, it is segmented into each their specialties...

riding up to 5:30 is not a joke, i almost did that..
in the end i never complete the ride, took a taxi in klawang back.

I started ok.. then after Broga I start to slow down.. then after that i missed the fast pack infront and stick with another 3. We took the wrong turn at lenggeng and actually cycle into Seremban. Continue to Klawang, my tire kena glass.. and punctured.. hand pump seems not able to help out a lot in this case, tried 6 different hand pumps.. now my new tire seems need replacement again after less than 200km..

Ride to klawang, reach there around 1pm, decide that I would not be able to make it for my 5pm appointment. Took a taxi back.. along the way other cyclist were shouting at us taking taxi back instead of riding haha..

apa kaitan the pump with the puncture... maybe you haven't got the shard out completely before you replace the tube and pump it up?

unless it's a deep cut or a cut on the sidewall.. doubt you have to throw the tire away....

Hi butthead, Thanks for the for the deep explaination... i have no budget for BMC hahaha (actually my budget are bout 4-5k nie) haha. i asked that Fuji it look great n its a pro-bike. anyway still considering... n look round for the suitable bike.

5k is impossible on a carbon bike.

An aluminum bmc street racer is still possible.

Its a go or bust thing at this level if u get what i mean

anyone using polygon road bikes? saw one entry level bikes for 2399, 20% discount off. well don't really like the colors, but i think wat matter is the bike is suitable to your size and u can perform with this bike.

there is at least 2 polygon users in the thread.. a carbon helios 600 and an aluminum helios 500...
