When I saw the spec sheet, I also thought CVT would save more fuel than MT but after seeing my friends car...it's the other way round
Senang cerita, 60km/h - 80km/h to save fuel
in my experience on cvt when going back to hometown, highway at around 150kmh is a bit high fc than 90-100kmh on trunk road. that's the best fc i got around 15km/l. Both are better than city driving.

Yup, thats ppl always said want good FC drive slow, but not drive low rpm, lol...
Want to speeding with decent FC, get higher power engine car.
Anyway, the gooding about low RPM for CVT is lower engine noise @ high speed, this one i love it.
true. the faster u reach the optimum power (90-100kmh) the better. however it may not apply to stop and go traffic

In practical, i expect CVT FC is alot better than MT FC due to low rpm of CVT can do, but end up nothing...
CVT 2.6k @ 110km/h and MT 3.6k @ 110km/h, However at that speed dun forget about the wind drag, the more faster you go, you need more fuel to compensate that drag,
If you drive your CVT @ 3000rpm (around or > 130km/h??), the fuel consumption might even higher than MT 110km/h @ 3600rpm, this went back to the key point, EFFICIENCY again.
I should mention, it was a generalization, and was just exemplifying engine speed vs fc. Not just saga cvt or mt.
haha when i ask the mechanic i ask "why sometimes engine mau mati if pagi pagi i tak panaskan engine?" so he answer " mesti mar.. kereta ini mesti mau panaskan engine kalau tak mana boleh..." okay lor i say like that.. really kan chiong okay.. sometimes u forgot to panaskan engine than u start and jalan.. reach traffic light.. engine started to die.. press pedal okay back.. sien..
overall flx se is a nice car to drive.. a lil bumpy since 15inch rim and low profile tire.. sending back my friend to temerloh last sunday. pump full tank esso taman melati than 100-120 karak to temerloh, straight coming back to kl after that.
joining the group of 5 car, quite fast around 120-170 from temerloh to gombak again... ngam ngam reach my house in pandan jaya that time the meter clock 325km.. and the still got last bar.. quite impress..
eventho tekan like no body business and naik bukit turun bukit also following those civic, city, persona, sentra and 1 more is alza..
My question,
what situation we must use SAT and what situation we cant use SAT?
Thank You
Enjoy SAGA!

i know he rushing to go for lunch.. cause once i pay to get my car that mechanic missing already.. haha...
6k?
You mean 5k issit?
Second service interval is 5k, not 6k. A lot of SC always mistaken and go +5k on the 1K.

nope. The VT2 is developed with easy drivability of an automatic transmission with the efficiency of a manual transmission in mind. Meaning, best of both worlds.
Therefore, the FC can be equally the same with a manual but certainly not better.

Maybe give it a week or two for your ECU to adjust. Is it normal? I remember eric got quite good FC with his BLM. Right now david's FC is like my 1.6.
According to my hardcore racing friends in AUZ, most "self learning" ECU study from their past appx 480km(thats the most record the ECU keep, normally less than 500km). And for your information, the learning process is NOT actually learning or artificial intelligent. The ECU will take all the readings from all the sensors, group the data together with the travelling distance/speed to come up with a set of "customized" data for your vehicle. Reason of doing this is, your ECU will try to adjust running fuel at certain RPM in conjunction with your current gas pedal volume.
I called up to my friend in Ipoh, he's also another hardcore PROTON tuner. According to him, there is another set of EPPROM in the ECU which record WATER TEMP, INTAKE VALUE and several important data. When mechanical failure, PROTON SC plug in their monitor so they know whether the engine has been tempered/overheated/overloaded/wrong fuel being added. This group of mechanical data only stores the most recent date of occurred/how many times occurred. So, its like a log book for mechanical failure. This part of the ECU memory is UNeraseable to keep track of all the prior incident. If you managed to read the data in this part of the ECU, you'll understand whether you wanna buy a 2nd hand car with previously overheated engine for 2 months straight still not going for radiator flush.
However, both parties gave a same conclusion, regardless of the learning process, ECU will 1st recognize aggressive driving. Regardless how you train your ECU to save petrol, when you floor the gas pedal, the engine will get the signal of adrenaline rush. This is standard to all ECU for emergency purpose. In case if there is a need to floor the pedal, and your car beehive like a beeyotch, think you're gonna set your car on fire on the spot. So, their only advice is, we actually MAY NOT be able to train the ECU to save petrol, but its possible to make a makcik's daily marketing BLM to move faster. For those who complain drive by wire, just floor the damn thing and your CAMPUR engine shall immediately response and start roaring!

I do have a theory but then it would sound really absurd...
Please enlighten me. I feels like banging myself on the petrol tank just to fuel it up!

i sikit noob, so conclusion: what do u want us to understand from the 1.8k and 2.0k and 3.0k gear changing?
Not conclude yet. Since everybody talking about 2k shift up, so I'm trying it now, see whether it helps my fuel efficiency.
QUOTE(coolkwc @ Mar 27 2012, 12:32 PM)
Bro, no need so difficult la, i just tell how i drive my manual BLM la...
I usually rev until 2.6-3k before i shift, to ensure after shift at least have 2k rpm. You shift too low rpm is torqueless, end up waste more fuel.
Normal day working 50% city 50% highway FC not less than 12km/L, usually around 12-14km/L...pure highway drive, 16km+/L...
What i can tell you is Saga best FC rpm is around 2k~3.6k, tested both 90km/h (3000rpm) and 110km/h(3600rpm) for 500km+ pure highway drive, FC also around 16km/L.
I collected the car with emptied fuel tank, so I got a bottle and fueled my car just nice to reach the petrol station. The 1st full tank I fueled my baby with RM63! I didn't manage to record the 1st tank because I don't know how to reset the trip, and I also didn't bother to record the initial value, but I was shocked after I traveled very short distance only. Not that I can remember I had to refill my WIRA1.6 in 2 days time! So, from there I started to record my BLM until today. I fully understand your theory and I totally agreed with it. I was doing that on my 2nd tank of petrol, and I've got less than 10km/l. However, I believe I'm still new with drive by wire, that could cause the inefficiency. I'm trying to TUNE myself in now. Meanwhile, I read it here, can't remember who told they shift within 2krpm, so I thought of give it a try with following 2 tank of petrol. I believe by the time I finish the 1.5 tank of petrol, I already pass the 480km ECU memory threshold. Logically, by the time I'm using this technique on my 2nd tank of petrol, half way I should see the effect, and my fuelly should increase my km/l on my 2nd tank. However, if my 2nd tank still goes between 10~12km/l, I shall dump the idea and search for another holy grail.
Cheers,
David
p/s: Yesterday was driving my ISWARA instead, damn I really miss the comfortable of my BLM, and the not so sound proof's sound proof of the BLM I mean compare all these with an ISWARA, BLM is heaven! In case if you're interested, this is how horrible an old car is.

EDIT: I was sayin I know more or less how the ECU works, but I see you've already mentioned the stuffs I was going to explain, so no point to repeat what you have explained to yourself
that day when lebuhraya pantai timur.. im playing SAT.. but when naik bukit karak highway.. SAT macam semput sikit... so change back to normal.. is much better!

FIXED.
Glad you are enjoying your BLM, FC notwithstanding
Yes, I wasn't explain to myself originally. I thought of let you know I'm not going to wait for few weeks for the ECU to adapt. Instead, I can make my decision on my 2nd tong of minyak sawit
Boss, you are the club head ar? Kalau join the club eh, what are the kangtau(s) eh? Normally where do you guys meetup besides of special occasion like konvoi, rally challenge, gymkhana. Got normal yumcha session ka?
Anyways, this is not my car, but he/she got the same spoiler as mine he/she's sumore got TRD wor!!!!
After seeing this, I definitely NEED to take it off ady.

Bro, our Saga ECu not advance as others expensive car/ECU, it no need few weeks for that to adapt...i even doubt our ECU got learning function, even have, with minimal data collection only...dun expect you will feel the huge different just by ECU learning, it won't work.

I am not the boss, i am just a victim of circumstances coz the previous ts was "incapacitated" when the previous version reached 125 pages and there was no one around to start the next version
Anyway, there is no formal membership here, unlike blmclub or PROSBOC, but we have TT once in awhile. We are also veri tame, no rally or gymkhana, at most some member sendiri go touge at genting.
As for konvoi, i am bouncing some ideas of an outstation konvoi, a 2-3 days getaway vacation. You intersted?

this will sound very absurd but i conclude this after interviewing numerous blm/fl users and compared their data with mine.
when the car is still new, the way the car is driven during the first 5,000km is crucial. If during this period, the car spend most of the time high revving and most of the time at speed above 90kmh, then the FC will be better when it is being driven sensibly.
But then this is just one of the bazillion factors which affects FC.

In AT models of previous gen Sagas & present BLMs/FLs, radiator serves as both engine (water coolant) cooler & GB (ATF) cooler. Not sure tho re CVT models...

CVT, yes.
normal BLM/FL? No.
so got or not? my friend has been pestering me to buy atf cooling kit from him
