hi bro,

yes..the estimation based on high end material..smile.gif...red brick, nyatoh door, color glass,GI roof truss etc...

Ans: to convert bedroom to bathroom...around RM1500 to RM2K (plumbing, piping, sewarage).tiling RM2300..tile owner buy...the price i calculated based on full height tile to ceilling....my calcualtion based on your area total

"Existing bathroom too small, only 5ft*6ft for each bathroom. Furthermore, bathroom 2 is just next to bathroom 1. Also plan to combined both bathroom to become one."...

Ans: if you just want to break the wall..it is cheaper..but kurang cantik lah...if you want to remodel the bath room such as change the tiling..then the price is different. If to change the tiling (tile you buy) estimated RM1k.

good luck

thanks bro tomjason, not it's not a mistake. If i use normal asbestos or factory zinc and exclude the tile how much saving i could get?
Your budget based on Y12 pad foothing/beam/pillar or normal pre cast tiang? I'm looking around RM40k; is't possible?

hi bro,

below is my calculation and quotation with the spec i given below, first of all i suppose you did typo mistake "No roof tile"...smile.gif...

spec : (since you want cheap and reliable for your house rental but i do no compromise on foundation, wiring and plumbing (foundation, wiring and wiring is according to JKR spec))

1. Sand brick
2. Plywood door
3. Normal window (not powder coated)
4. normal roof tile (Monier)
5. normal ceilling.
6. Normal tile (about RM2 ++ per piece)
etc

Estimated : RM50K
good luck bro...

Hi tomjason,

I'm planning to build a concrete kitchen tabletop with tiles. The contractor told me that I can choose whether to use:

1. bricks for the tabletop legs/stand, which will be about 4 inch thick (bricks + cement + tiles on both sides)... or
2. without bricks, but using cement with rod irons inside (+ tiles on both sides), which will be slimmer and nicer looking.

I like the 2nd option as it looks more modern, but I'm not sure whether is it strong enough? Afraid that in long term it may not be able to tahan the weight and all the pounding + cooking works done in the kitchen... scared may crack later and the whole tabletop collapse blush.gif Also, is it advisable to add some hidden legs/stand in the middle of the tabletop? Hope you can help advice on this. For those who have experience in this, please feel free to comment and advise too. Thanks!

Hi bro,

for your case estimated RM7K exclude door and windows (you do not mention how many windows and door..i estimated door and windows RM2500).

Kayu bakau is for piling, usually for area with soft land..this to prevent your house from sinking..do not worry the kayu bakau will last for ages and the kayu bakau termite cannot bite since to hard for them.

good luck

Hi brother,

Currently my pipe from outside meter to kitchen and tangki is steel pipe, i want to change it to PVC, meaning just build a new pipe to kitchen and tangki only, my house is double storey 18x60, and the contractor charge me for RM2.6k just for plumbing, include hacking and plastering. Is it a reasonable price? Because i feel tat PVC pipe is not so expensive...

Thanks ya!

hi bro,

pvc pipe is not expensive...the contractor charge you expensive...try get few quotation..if you want cheaper..try get indon contractor but you must supervsie..

hi bro,

the second option is good..look slimmer...dont worry..it is strong....the weight of kitchen table is not supported 100% by that brick or concrete..90% of the weight is support by the concrete that attached to the wall....

Thanks for the advice! Will go for the thin leg/stand then biggrin.gif The concrete tabletop is about 8 ft long... actually it's not from wall end-to-wall end, but more of in the middle of the wall, so will need 2 legs/stand on each sides (left and right). Do I need to add a hidden leg in the middle too?

Normally main contractor will charge higher..if you want cheaper get indon contractor....if want greater cheaper get indon worker..you supervise...

below is the answer:

1. Currently the old house I bought i running with old steel piping, is it recommend to change all the piping?

Ans: old steel is actually GI piping....usually will rust at the joint.....for long term advised to change to PVC Class 6.

2. What kind of piping I should use? any specification?
Ans: Do not use ABS pipe (blue pipe)

3. Any other things I need to take attention??
Ans: as item 2. Since you are using pump, make sure your contractor properly glue at the joint and bend.

i hv posted tip on piping..read all my thread.

gd luck

hi bro,

for door and windows there few size...if you want to use the existing window..ask the contractor to use frame that fit your doors and windows...normally windows no problem since the frame is custom fit to your requirement..if you ar using wooden door frmae also there are custom fit..maybe your contractor is mau kerja senang....

below is my comment on the quotation:

i. Structure with piling kayu bakau ,complete plaster ceiling & painting RM 13,200.00
Ans: Expensive. Estimated RM6K only.

ii. Concrete slab on top RM 3,500.00
Ans: Resonable.

iii. 2 set aluminum window ( 6’x 4’ ) + ( 4 x 4 ) RM 1,000.00
