Non-executive directors are not employees. Hence they are not employed when they are in Singapore. Therefore they do not need any sort of employment pass or permit.

because EP holders are not allowed to take up 2nd job... being a non exec means not employment right?

Yup, that's what non-executive means. Lots of the senior guys in my company's SG office hold directorships in the many subsidiaries registered in SG. Most are permit holders, rather than PR or citizens.

Any of you got vacancies in your place for IT guy? Friend of mine got retrenched from RIM (singapore) almost half a year back, hasn't been able to get a replacement job. 3-4 years exp in IT Support with Genting and RIM, holds a Masters degree of some sort.

Reality bites. Sad case. Good luck. Try all the head hunters. And if you are a SPR, maybe can try to talk to the MP or CDC to see if there is any help. wink.gif

Would like to ask about the Maybank and CIMB in singapore. Are they linked with our Malaysian Branches? Meaning like if i deposit my SGD in the SG Maybank and I can access that account in Malaysian Maybank?

Well, my scenario is I need to pay back my PTPTN loans through online. Thus, was thinkin if I open a Maybank account in SG, then could I pay to PTPTN through the SG Maybank?

I dunno why he having so much trouble finding job. Possibly cos his qualifications don't balance with his (relatively) limited job experience so companies don't wanna even consider him for junior positions? *shrug*

maximum household income for HDB dwellers is SGD12,000. IF singaporean families managed to live with SGD8000 a month income, why can't you.

at least, you can survive with SGD8000/month compared to RM8000/month. smile.gif

If for myself alone is another story. But singaporean there really kiasu and lansi doh.gif

It seems to me that ur fren is oso choosy.
If after 6 month oso cannot find, no nid to insist maintaining his last drawn salary. Even if 50% if his pay go for it.
Malaysia oso cannot find job meh? SHould be easier there.

I think goin for junior position is easy, as long as he dun ask for his existing pay or inissting not more than 30% pay cut.
Qualification is not a barier, he can just delete it out. Can delete Master can even delete his Degree. Unlike experience, which is hard to delete.
My advise is beggers can't be chooser, unless he is wealthy.

I have 20+ annual leave + x days of unrecorded leave. Not easy to take leaves as there are responsibilities.
I started 2012 with 40+ days of annual leave, have to clear at least half this year else wasted.

$15 per online transfer from Maybank SG -> Maybank MY... good only if you are transferring very large amount.

alternatively, you can use Maybank SG ATM card to withdraw cash (RM) in malaysia maybank ATM machine,
then deposit it into your Maybank MY account via the deposit machine.
