I'd reallllly like to see how he can afford a RM500K house and a new City with RM5K salary. After EPF and tax, it's barely RM4K a month. I don't see how he can set aside the monthly instalments from his paycheck, much less "afford it" in terms of smart financial management.
*
Why not? For the car, assuming he bought around the age 28. By the age of 35, he already fully paid. When he plans for the house around age , assuming 20% down payment(100k) * 30 years with current rate 2.5k repayment, and bank approved his loan, I don't see the reason he cant afford it.

RM4K take home.
Less RM2.5K house instalment... 30 years !!!
Less RM1K car instalment.
Left with RM0.5K.

If you're willing to cut it this close, I don't see the reason you can't afford a S$500K home and new car in SG, with S$5K salary.

BTW, how come P2 categorize as Elite? IMHO, earning 5k not really an elite life. I'm sure lots of ppl debated before about RM and SGD, I would like to compare a life of a single(35 years old) man living in KL and a SGPR

In KL, he can purchase a Rm500k double-storey house and drive a new Honda City.

In SG, he can only afford a $400k HDB and cannot afford a new car
*
KL, maybe yes

SG, No! unless your are Singaporean then you can buy HDB as single over 35.

I don't understand why must buy new car at $60k COE? That amount is able to settle the down payment for a KL house and a new MY car. If Single, a super bike is a good alternative.

I am not encouraging anyone to do it in my previous post.

I suggest get the passport renew before travel to SG, it is black and white.

but like all rules, it is 100% at all time?

But if you have an important interview in SG tomorrow and you just realise you have 5 months passport validity, will you give up?
If you are lucky, you will get a warning after you explain the situation. Just state a shorter stay in SG and go in during peak hour.

They got their means one. Maybe through LinkedIn?

Guys would like to know the effectiveness of these recruitment firms. Would you send your application through them?

I just graduated from NUS and I'm looking start my career in sales (preferably B2B). Been giving all these staffing agencies a miss as I thought they might have genuine offers (because many of them have ridiculously high number of job oppotunities) and I have the impression that company filling their openings through them are being secretive (What's there to hide anyway). Though I understand sometimes companies wouldnt wanna let their competitors to know what they are doing but considering the seniority of the position for a fresh grad, is it really necessary?

What's the trend now? Other than looking from online job ads website, should I read the newspapers too? Hope HR folks here can share your views.

Thanks!

Yeah I agree with r1v3r. Although there are rules written but sometimes the officers are cool and Msians are usually excepted. My friend once tried to enter with just 2-months validity and he got through. The officers told him to renew his passport asap.

NS a contentious point between foreign- and local-born citizens

Mindef added that those who renounce their PR status without serving will face adverse consequences, as it will be taken into account when they apply to study or work in Singapore subsequently, or when they try to have their PR status reinstated. sweat.gif

no harm going thru them, since recruit firms wanna make a quick buck
sicne they already have a database of all the job openings it will be easier for them to filter the unncessary posting and increase your chances of being shortlisted for interview.

oh yeah cool.gif
