yes just hantam! you shouldnt be choosy. find the right job that suits you regardless of location. just get your resume ready and send! you have nothing to lose.

investment banking? you need to make more research whether is it better for you to start in Msia or SG. but be warned that the competition for entry level position investment bankers are very very intensive. even the brightest grads from NUS find it hard to set their foot in IB because some banks only consider ivy league grads. you'll be surprised how many ivy league grads apply to those banks in SG.

good luck!

NUS =.='' seems like i need ALOT of luck if i want to get my self in IB : ( anyway thank you so much man! you all did help me a lot in this : ) Appreciate that. rclxms.gif

Sometimes company will not give u an offer letter till its approved by MOM then only u go ahead and signed it at the dotted line...some others..the offer letter will have this T&C subjected to the approval of MOM...if MOM rejects than this signed offer letter is of no use!!
*
Yes that's what they told me...after pass is approved only sign...but if they start submitting my pass application and then 2 days later I reject the company and go with other company...will I be in any trouble?

Right now I am in no position to tell this company that I am waiting for other offer....otherwise they would take someone else and I will get nothing if other company doesn't want me..that's why I have to drag it 2-3 days more

Someone give me an answer please icon_question.gif

from what I heard from them...they can submit the copy of my passport and other information for the process to begin

My concern is that...while the pass for company A is being processed...if I get the offer from company B and reject company A

will there be any problem? again...i Have not signed any offer letter yet...everything is verbal at this point
*

it is verbal.
when the black and white comes out...what if it differs?
shyt happens...best to cover your behind.

same goes the other way round.
an approval from MOM with no offer letter signed is of no use.
what you get now is verbal, no black and white.
they can always go back on what they said/promised.

You are right that verbal is nothing if there is no black and white....that's why I had to tell Company A no problem I can take the job...

So I guess there won't be problem if I reject company A when I got a real offer from company B

Company A is probably processing the pass application right now

I just spoke to hiring manager of company B and they agreed to hire me...it's up to the HR to issue the offer only...

Right now I only can assume there won't be any problem?

Anyway thanks for the feedback.I just asked some friends and they confirmed shouldn't be problem as well

If anyone thinks differently do let me know~

Other than that...no benefit but they do not need to prioritize cancelling it either.

ICIC..that means if the first company to apply for this does not cancel the application the 2nd company would never be able to get EP for me and I will not be able to work for 2nd company. Right? mad.gif

That really is a problem. Can't do anything at this point...just hope it doesn't turn up this way nod.gif

"A bird in hand is better than two in the bush" rolleyes.gif

My advise is take the first job. Settle down first, then only look for other jobs if this one does not go well.

If you screw up A and B can't get the EP for you, then you will still be jobless in SG.

Perhaps you are right...but really there is a very good reason I am still waiting for another offer.

When they were interviewing me last week... the promised pay was amount X but then today they called me say want to hire me but the amount is X-200. When I questioned them they said that is the best offer they could make...
whereas last week they told me they will be able to offer X or more....

OK all the above are just verbal...I have no idea what will happen to the offer letter that will be issued by them
That's why I really feel like there would be more unwanted surprises that will come to me if I work there

As for the other company, I feel like they hold on to their words, both HR and hiring manager told me the same kind of compensation packages. Which I think is they are more ethical in a way. It's just that their process is slower and I have to wait here worrying rclxub.gif

If A verbal promise X. But OL shows X-200, and you waiting for B, why not just tell A that you don't accept their offer ?
So, when B comes along, you take whatever they offer, even if it is X-300 ?
Or worse, B does not offer you.

Now you see the point of bird in hand vs two in the bush ?

Actually A has not issued any offer letter yet. It's just that verbally over the phone it is X-200

As I mentioned on earlier post both still do not have any black and white at this point.
it's just that A took the first step to tell me they would like to take me..

I'm just hoping that B will issue an offer letter soon (with no surprises of MINUS sign) then I can take B's offer

I get your point cute_boboi, I know I am in no position to choose right now since I am unemployed. I'll see what comes for the next 2-3 days.

The unemployed is 2nd point.
Your main point is to enter SG and work there with valid EP.
That will help a lot in your upcoming job search, instead of stay/work in MY, without any SG working permit.

Actually last time when i got my job, they also email and verbally inform that they wan hire you, i did ask for offer letter, they say only will give when i got my EP. So what you can do is just trust them, should not be any problem unless the company is just messing around wif you which is highly not possible.

I quote Stiffler from American Pie: You don't score, until you scored.

Same theory applies to job. You do not get the job until you signed the papers. I've had experience which the HR gave me a verbal offer, and proceed with paper signing at their office as soon as both parties were convenient.
