QUOTE(PepsiCo @ Feb 15 2012, 09:43 PM) Hard to break into OnG unless you have a good resumè but once you in, then joining others should be no problem. OnG is booming now, especially subsea business. A lot of suppliers are mass hiring since last year, some are still hiring today as we speak.eh i know the Manager in LNG, my ex-superior QUOTE(elvenchou1987 @ Feb 15 2012, 11:36 PM) What engineering first? Electronics? I think its hard for electronics cause I applied alot of electronics companies during December 2011. No reply from them. Or maybe my CGPA too low? lol.. i'm freshie btw.. If you must know, electronics business is hit very hard by the slow economy starting from 3rd quarter of 2011. So that explains.. |

QUOTE(sapapa @ Feb 19 2012, 04:04 PM) IRAS is not GIRO, and IRAS is not GIRO. You are confused between them and also may have confused the IRAS officer when you use the term "GIRO" when you made your inquiries. Added on February 20, 2012, 8:25 am QUOTE(sapapa @ Feb 18 2012, 07:31 PM) Hey guys, my company holds 15% of my monthly salary for the period of 6 months(probation period). After this period, the company would return the money back to me. I have been asked that applying a GIRO account would help me as I would get the full salary and the company does not hold 15% of my monthly salary for 6 months. I think what your employer was telling you is: Open any bank account so that they can bank in your salary to your bank account(plus the 15% that they withhold since day 1). I went to GIRO few days ago and talked to the officers there. They said that I am not liable to any tax, they could not help me with this. They said that this is between you and your company. So now I'm confuse. I wonder if anyone experience this before? Just like what seantang said, previously they paid you in cheque so they have to withhold certain amount for tax purposes and also to cover their own butt just in case you just disappear someday. Using cheque means its kinda "off the book", hence the preferred method is bank in/bank transfer(which also means GIRO). With proper record and everything, it's easier for tax declaration and filling purposes. Bear in mind, personal income tax is the matter between you and IRAS. IRAS wouldn't bother anything about what and how your employer pays you(legally speaking, of course), as long as you declare your income properly and pay them on time. QUOTE(yhoong12 @ Mar 26 2012, 06:00 PM) Actually last time when i got my job, they also email and verbally inform that they wan hire you, i did ask for offer letter, they say only will give when i got my EP. So what you can do is just trust them, should not be any problem unless the company is just messing around wif you which is highly not possible. I quote Stiffler from American Pie: You don't score, until you scored.Same theory applies to job. You do not get the job until you signed the papers. I've had experience which the HR gave me a verbal offer, and proceed with paper signing at their office as soon as both parties were convenient. |
