Just changed to seagate 1tb few days ago. Bought caviar blue 1tb last year, failed after few month. Sent for rma, changed with new one, tested the new one, failed me again. doh.gif Decided to change for good, finger crossed that will not fail me again. Previously 250gb external failed me too after few month. doh.gif But again I bought western digital external 1tb. laugh.gif I think I had enough with western digital...

Hey guys,
recently when i switch on the laptop i heard some noisy sound like "tak tak tak" sound.

and sometimes i cant boot, it shows a blackscreen with "Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller Error: "Check Cable Connection" at Boot-Up".

Any idea what the problem is?

Just wondering, if I'm going for RAID 1 2x2TB, is WD Red suitable? I mean, I'm just backing up, now using it to transfer files via Network..

Western Digital Unleashes All-New WD Black Family of Hard Drives with Up To 48% Higher Performance.
QUOTE
Western Digital’s new WD Black FZEX family of HDDs feature all new dual-core application processor that brings in WD’s Dynamic Cache Technology, which increases performance by improving caching algorithms in real time and optimizing the cache allocation between reads and writes. This results in the drive automatically allocating more cache for read data, which reduces data congestion and increases overall performance. According to WD’s internal tests, the new 1TB drives are 26% faster than the predecessors (WD Black FAEX family) and the 4TB model increases performance by dramatic 48% in certain benchmarks.
