Fast focus for sure no need lotsa power-lah..manual, you keep on focusing till the best & click..The time it took you to click, the powwer consumption for sure reduced biggrin.gif ..Anyway, playing wth manual also very shiok wan ..after playing wth my Minolta 50mm 1.4 for a week now, Luv the bokeh although I hv to agree interm of picture sharpness, not as good as NEX AF

BTW..My comparison between a NEX 18-55 kit lens Vs Minolta 50mm F1.4:
SEL1855 NEX lens (Clear fast focus AF):

Minolta 50mmF1.4 (Nice bokeh but the focus object sharpness so-so- I think this is at F2 or F2.8 doh.gif problem wth..MF lens - no exif data on F haha)

I used my 5N over the weekend with a LA-EA2. Filled up the 8GB SD with 430 shots on RAW, still had 20% power.

So how's the lens?

I have tested the SEL50F18 even on my NEX-5 only, AF quite fast in hotel room lighting.
but for me i already have many of those classic 50mm fast lenses, and i already OK to do MF, i will pass this.

Wait till u get particles that cannot be blown off the sensor.., then u'll know.
*
i use a lenspen model than can twist/tilt the tip.. quite of..'
but 1st off u need a whatchamight call it.. ah a loupe to check the sensor to figure out what kinda dirt u have..
the loupe magnifies the area of the sensor, some even have a built in illumination light..

its not my picture smile.gif anyway, the lens has its own tripod mount iinm since it is quite heavy. i thought you guys have NEX adapter with tripod mount? its a good idea actually if you plan to use it with tripod.

It's just amazing that >30yrs old lens can do such a great job that I don't think the newest, expensive NEX lenses can do well..haha..my 2sen

u guys shud really start up a new thread for nex with manual lenses and have a teh tarik session where peeps who have these lenses can gather and exchange views, compare lenses, sell/buy lenses..
u guys can make this into a thriving thread and ala pasar malam for legacy lenses

i have about 8 manual lenses with me but stopped the buying spree since got not much time to go shooting..

and there's a saying, the nex is actually a rear lens cap.. LOL!!
