Type of camera/lens/accessories : High-end compacts/Micro four thirds/
Budget : Around RM1500
Your Location : Klang Valley
Preferable brand : No preference
Type of photography u want to do : Mostly portraits, sceneries and the occasional macro shots.
Any specific models in mind? : Olympus E-PM1, E-PL3, Nikon G15 or anything that promises not too much bulk but doesn't compromise of image quality either.
Any specific features u want? : I plan to upgrade to a DSLR once I'm less daunted by all the buttons and options, so a model which allows manual settings similar to a DSLR would be helpful.

As a side note, I came across a promotion from a retailer which is selling the Olympus E-PL3 (with kit lens) bundled with the Olympus pancake 17mm F2.8 lens at about RM1,800. Any input if it's worth the extra that I'll have to fork out? Was very tempted to splurge just based on the pocketability of the pancake lens.

Am a complete newbie upgrading from a (frustrating) 3MP mobile phone camera, so any help will be appreciated. Many thanks in advance! smile.gif

I asked the price of nex F3K in johor bahru.
1. RM1780 (negotiable) with 8GB and carry bag
2. RM1699 (SenQ promo) with 8GB and carry bag (5 yr warranty)

is that price too expensive? What is the reasonable price for this camera? Going to buy this weekend. What kind of thing I can get from them (freebie)? 16GB?

A mirrorless by Sony would fare better than most entry level SLR..

get a canon ixus220 hs, around RM600 or below.
it's small, intelligent auto for casual snappers, P mode for more advance, many filters for fun and creativity
great video and slow motion
and you can hack using SDHK
no need spend extra money on others
