Hmmmm then maybe a6400 + Sony 11mm f1.8. Both are weather sealed. Around Rm6k.

Focal length is subjective since I think a bit too wide but it's good for astrophotograph. F1.8 is also a bit too slow but it's the only weather sealed lens I can think of unless u go viltrox 13mm f1.4 but no sealing.

Thanks. But I don't expect to go for astrophotography when it rains as usually can't see stars on cloudy/rainy days. So I think no seal for astrophotography is good.

It's when I'm on the move such as hiking, exploring river etc might get exposed to rain or dust

if you bring to sea side, taht one expose to salt in air / water particle with salt lagi teruk lmao

also BBQ places with greasy smoke, if you wear glasses then you know how annoying afterward because the grease coating form on lens and stick a lot with dust tongue.gif

Well u got to trade off vs what u need. If weathersealing is not so important then u got wider range of selection like sigma 16mm f1.4 apsc lens which I think is mid ground for star and landscape shot which combined with a6400 is just below Rm5k. With the rest of money buying waterproof bag that can put all those gears while u hike so weather sealing is not so important.

Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR
Budget: None in mind for now
Your Location: KL
Preferable brand : Any
Type of photography u want to do : Mainly taking pictures in indoor room lighting
Any specific models in mind? : A7 MK4
Any specific features u want? : None, just basic photography

Hi all, I am looking for a camera to take close up pictures indoor mainly. My house doesnt have very good lighting (it is using those compact fluorescent light) so phones on camera struggle to take good pictures even if its the latest S23 ultra i.e. the picture tends to get very grainy when you zoom in. And the camera lens on phones nowadays is too big and taking close up shot causes alot of undesirable fringing and changing to ultrawide lens reduces the quality alot. So i was wondering if buying a DSLR can solve this problem and if yes what is the model that is just enough to suit my needs no need anything too fancy. Thanks in advanced

add more light?? go to light shop and get more light bulbs? avoid shooting in night?

give a visual picture of your issue actually helps a lot.
right now i have no idea how dark is your home and how is your failure shot of your phone. i don't have samsung phone before so i am no idea how does samsung camera AI works but S23 is new phone it should not be an issue. got ever try use other brand like borrow your friend or family member's ipad or google pixel phone and shoot ?

S23 is fairly new phone leh, if that phone AI cannot take a decent photo, means your house or your skill is the biggest problem there. sweat.gif more like you need to know how camera works first before shoot anything, so you can identify the issue, and overcome it instead spend money for DSLR for nothing.

If you haven't know already, all 3 models has the same processor and sensor. So image quality will be the same. As for best bang for buck, it will be XS10 since it is the only model that has ibis. As for the X100v, you can forget about it. Even if you can find the stock, it is already out of your budget.

Hi all sifu, the last I've had a DSLR is probably 15 years ago or something. I last had a Nikon D40 or D80 I don't even remember. had some financial issue back then and sold everything. Haven't kept up with latest tech so hoping to get some advise here. I'm planning to buy a camera for event use. Normally indoors in a hall, sometimes outdoors. Will be shooting people/events and subject is roughly about 10-20 meters away. If point and shoot tech these days are already very good I can consider it as well as DSLR is heavy right?

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Point n shoot / DSLR + lens / what is mirrorless???
Budget: Less than 10k
Your Location: Selangor / Melaka
Preferable brand : Don't matter
Type of photography u want to do : Events / people / mostly indoors / sometimes outdoors.
Any specific models in mind? : Don't matter
Any specific features u want? : Would be great if can take videos too.

nikon Z6ii with the 24-120 f/4S kit lens combo is aorund 9k plus, near 10k....
but the weight lighter a little only.

last time i planned to upgrade my D800+24-70 f/2.8G into Z6ii +24-70 f/2.8S , the weight is same lmao. lighter few grams only.
control wise on Z6 i think no need worry much the nikon UI maintain kinda same. just a lot of new tech stuff i need to relearn. rclxub.gif

Hi Sifu, phone photographer/videographer here.

Thinking to upgrade into camera.

Looking at Sony A6700 but undecided between the lenses, after filtering the lens, im currently looking at the below as my final decision. I like to shoot mixed stuff, potrait, landscape, wildlife and night shot, can any sifu give advice.

-Sony Kit lens 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS (Ori Price RM 2,582 if buy with camera RM 2,100)
- Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 (Price RM 2,148)
- Tamron 17-70mm F2.8 (Price RM 2,947)
