SSD write is actually a lot more durable than it sounds, even if it is limited at 3,000 writes per block. Say you get an Intel 320 160GB and then write 160GB to it every day, it will easily last you for 5 years and have an upper limit of 8 years and 2 months.

Most small and medium businesses will find it impossible to exhaust any given SSD's write limit and most large businesses will find it very challenging to accomplish. When Cyclonechuah says write-intensive, it means writing more than 1x the SSD's storage capacity per day. And by per day, I mean every day, including weekends and holidays. So it really depends on how and where the SSD is going to be used. And it is possible to roughly estimate how long any SSD would last you, and most estimates actually over-estimate how much writes you'll consume.

Then should be ok. Mostly 10GB for a day up to 1 month, project done. Probably i will direct out put the data directly into storage rather keep it on SSD. Hope storage possess high reading rate.
Just SSD can handle millions (10-100) of read as single input or not ?

At 10GB per day for 30 days, write is not a problem either. doh.gif

You can keep it on the SSD, unless you have better things to do with the SSD that needs the space.

There is no read limit, so it would be safe to assume that it won't be an issue.

That sound great.
I can option 1 SSD as main, 2nd SSD for virtual, 3rd small SSD for temporally raw data reading by application, 1x 300GB SAS application, 2x WD clavior black 500GB storage (can i RAID this two drive only ?).
2 SSD 120GB =1.2k
1 64GB SSD= 378
SAS = no idea how much it's
clavior black = unknown the price

Why you need SAS HDD? i'm quite confused by this. =X
Since on Performance comparison, SAS HDD that is 15k RPM, you will still need to RAID 0 them to try to outperform a single SSD.
Why not just get a big size SSD for Main OS and Applications?

My suggestion for you would be.

Intel 320 Series 300gb SSD as Main OS and Application.
2nd or 3rd SSD for Virtual/Scratch Disk.

2x Caviar Black 500gb for RAID 1

Yalo~ put SAS into sound weird biggrin.gif tongue.gif . I can not take the risk of failure on RAID 0 in the output.
Intel SSD 320 300GB damn expensive and the read just 250mb/s ++ =__= Intel 320 SSD 160GB cost RM900++
120GB corsair Read 550mb/s cost RM589. I prefer other brand SSD for cheaper and better speed. Why intel SSD so expensive ?

300GB SSD will make me over budget. If i need to put in 2nd SSD for virtual and 2 storage RAID1.
Claviar black dnt hv 2.5' one >_<

WHy a server make suffer.
In order to save time, i just make the server offline

Intel is actually not that expensive
Corsair are decent too but remember anything over 2xxmb/s need SATA 6 to use that speed smile.gif
But sequential is not everything, random access etc is where SSD make a big difference

Got ppl said that Dell Tower server T610 can not simply plug in hard drive. The BIOS may be can not support certain SSD and else T.T
Currently, I'm customizing it in order to reduce cost.

I'm using a Dell T610 with Intel 320 SSDs, had to get a bay from Ebay though (lol seriously).

I dont think you need a server to run your apps,a decent built desktop/workstation would just suffice.
Also look for laptop equipped with
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chi...e-chipsets.html
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chi...m-chipsets.html

chipsets to fully utilize sata 3 6Gb/s ssd,or just look for a macbook with sata 3 port enable.

My supervisor want a server. However, most of those program run by server with Xeon.
They want remote access by few ppl. Need to use it to connect to other server may be.
I'm fine with either server or workstation. As long as can make my job done in minutes and stable.
Dell precesion workstation laptop just can slot in 16GB RAM, 32GB RAM totally cost a BoOm.
