Got ppl said that Dell Tower server T610 can not simply plug in hard drive. The BIOS may be can not support certain SSD and else T.T
Currently, I'm customizing it in order to reduce cost.

I'm using a Dell T610 with Intel 320 SSDs, had to get a bay from Ebay though (lol seriously).

can you give me the plat number of 8Gb and 4GB RAM, LV ECC RDIMM Dual RANK used by dell ?
*
We're using 12 x 2GB sticks. Pretty standard stuff - unbuffered ECC DDR3. If you want more than 24GB RAM you'll need buffered DIMMs. Refer to their service manual for more info.

T610 sata 6 right ?
The server come with nice stuff ??
Got any hardware issue from it ? Their management software can one click open virtual window ?

Don't remember if it's SATA 6. Don't know what you mean by "nice stuff".

There's one issue we're facing where the server won't POST until you unplug/replug its power from the wall. Started doing this after one very bad lightning strike.

We bought the server cheap anyway - less than RM3k, thanks to Dell DFO biggrin.gif

1. I got read the manual, just didnt aware the buffered.
2. The RAM, u buy it urself or get from Dell ??
3. I plan to plug in 32GB RAM, (2x8GB, 4x4GB). Still got 6 empty Dimm >_<
4. Nice stuff, such as those function and blabla ?
5. My place, always got lightning =_= Should i consider un-interrupted power supply ?
6. How come T610 less than 3k ?? DFO ?

Dual Xeon E5620
32GB RAM
300GB 15k SAS
1T 7.2k SAS
3yrs Pro Support
Monitor, keyboard
No SSD ...
Cost 14k =___=

7. Ur server using which OS ?
*
1. You should really read it, here: http://support.ap.dell.com/support/edocs/s.../pdf/hom_en.pdf
2. Bought it ourselves.
3. That's why you should read the manual. What you want to do isn't a supported config and your server probably won't boot. The manual has details on the restrictions on how you can configure the RAM on page 123.
4. What functions specifically?
5. Yes, if budget allows for it.
6. DFO = Dell Factory Outlet, i.e. refurbished systems
7. We're using Debian Linux.

Only the third config is supported. I'm not going to spoonfeed you why the first two aren't - you need to figure it out yourself from the manual. Read and understand it.
