On my company's notebook running 128GB SSD and Windows 7 Ultimate, I find that when I right click on any file or any icon on the drive, it takes like 10 minutes or so before I can get any menu. I can move the mouse but the mouse arrow changes to busy during that time. Anything wrong?

Silly question but...

Since SSDs have a limited amount of times it can write... What happens when it runs out?  Its gonna become un-useable like a bad sector?

it will become read only.

New Firmware 0309 Released to fix M4 Hourly Reboot Bug

Download Link

QUOTE
Release Date: 01/13/2012
Change Log:

Changes made in version 0002 (m4 can be updated to revision 0309 directly from either revision 0001, 0002, or 0009)

Correct a condition where an incorrect response to a SMART counter will cause the m4 drive to become unresponsive after 5184 hours of Power-on time. The drive will recover after a power cycle, however, this failure will repeat once per hour after reaching this point. The condition will allow the end user to successfully update firmware, and poses no risk to user or system data stored on the drive.

This firmware update is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for drives in the field. Although the failure mode due to the SMART Power On Hours counter poses no risk to saved user data, the failure mode can become repetitive, and pose a nuisance to the end user. If the end user has not yet observed this failure mode, this update is required to prevent it from happening.

If you are using a SAS Expander please do not download this Firmware. As soon as we have a Firmware Update that will work in these applications we will release it.

Answering to my own reply...

I initially turned off Windows Search under Services. I switched it back on and now it works fine.

Thanks for the post. Since getting the 64GB and 128GB M4 last October and installed in my Toshiba M9 and Acer 1410 respectively, I have only shutdown for like 5 times in total. 5184 hours equals 216 days. Will update it.

I was thinking to use 300GB SSD, 3 seagate momentus XT. It's seaget momentus hybrid drive work slower than thos 15k RPM 6GB/s SAS

Sometimes if my PC BSOD'ed, when it restarted my OCZ Agility 3 won't be detected in the BIOS and I have to restart the PC again for it to be detected. Is this normal?

i think you should go look for reviews for SSD and reviews for HDD as well as reviews for seagate momentus XT. their difference are obvious.

i advice you do some product research before asking difference between SSD and HDD and Momentus XT (HYBRID)
No offense to you, but i recommended this because it will be more easier for you to look at the graph that reviews provided rather than Wall of text people written here, or having people posting separated graph.

Don't think it's worth it for you to use 3 seagate momentus XT.
Getting 3x Samsung F3 1TB is a much better investment. You can RAID 2 of them and the other use it as an extra backup.

Performance difference between them is pretty much non-existant, as I assume you're using it for data purposes.

So... Those memory storage in iPhones etc are flash-nand storage too right?
and they'll eventually run out of writes too isn't it?

connect SSD to SATA2 port, instead of SATA3
in BIOS set SATA mode to IDE, ensure that S.M.A.R.T is enabled.
