iv) for step 14, open command prompt and change the directory by keying in 'cd C:\Documents and Settings\[your pc name]\Desktop\xroot' . After that, refer step 15 and 16.
Done. bootloader unlocked.

ii) Hold down the MENU button and connect the USB cable. A blue light will appear at the notification led. **If a blue light does NOT appear, then your phone can't get into FastBoot, and probably still has the bootloader locked. You can also try a different USB port on the computer, and even a different USB cable.
5) Double click the dos batch file 'Root-Xperia-PRO.bat' in the 'xroot' folder on your desktop.
6) A dos window will open temporarily for a few seconds, and close. you might not even see it it's so fast. Wait for around 3-5 seconds.
7) Look at your phone's screen. You should have an orange colored recovery menu, which is the CWM-based Recovery v4.0.1.4 application running. **Slide open the keyboard: The up and down buttons move the selection up and down. the Enter button selects something. the BACK button goes back.
8) Select 'install zip from sdcard' > 'choose a zip drom sdcard' > 'downloads' > 'RootXperia.zip' > 'Yes - Install RootXperia.zip'
9) Wait the flashing to complete, go back to the main screen, select 'wipe data/factory reset' and 'wipe cache partition', in 'advanced', select 'wipe Dalvik Cache' and 'wipe battery stats' , and return to main menu, select 'reboot system now'.
Done, your Xperia Pro had been rooted. Mind that the restart will take longer than normal.

clear apps that u dont need dl apps that u need if possible get some casing for the new baby the gloss finishing its quite easy to get smudges and dirt on it

(3) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES" from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(4) [OPTIONAL] increase screen timeout to 10 minutes
(5) connect USB cable to PHONE and then connect to PC
all the above step is understood except step (1). help pls anyone?

hi guys. i'm considering neo v, neo, arc s or samsung galaxy w. i'm interested with xperia neo the most but the thing is that neo dun have ori set, dun they??
i'm a first time smartphone and android user, so i think i dun need higher end fon like arc s doesnt it?? n plus, i'm intrested with the exmor tech spec for my type of usage
i need neo to be ORI set bcoz i'm thinking of upgrading/ changing another model 2 or 3 months later. i heard that having ori is an advantage if like change fon?? so if it is true that neo dun have ORI set in m'sia, should i get NEO V ORI instead??
ur opinion is appreciated in advance

I agree ORI set has its advantages usually because of the warranty service by the manufacturer.
For AP set you have to make sure your seller has good reputation and reliable.
My opinion is if you buy Neo V, and realized u needed that exmor tech, you'll switch to a new phone next 1-2 weeks later (maybe). If you think you can survive without it because you can handle shooting pictures in low light, then maybe you'll wait after ICS update then you'll change?
I can understand my usage, and doesn't have to switch phone too often like less than a year.

Giant Kelana Jaya has one, or Balakong's Jusco also has it...=) Its quite difficult to get a shop that sells though, so I can only identify these two. It aint impact absorbent but it does give u a firmer grip and reduce the bloody oil stains on your phone. =)

You come too late liao. For XMas Promo, I inquire here and there for the XMas Promo, all SE outlet blur blur, have to call HQ "for them" and call them back. They all blur blur, somemore promotion start next day, all outlet still blur blur and tell Customer "no such promotion", never double confirm with HQ first.
Too bad. Hope they will improve their service and well informed; If not also, at least go check and find out, don't tell Customer, don't have or let Customer ownself call here and there to check. The staff seems not helpful and don't work with their heart. Hope this will change.
U can always check at Sony Ericsson Malaysia FB, I've been talking bout the Xmas and CNY promo when XMas time.

I will try tonight. But they said I have to download busyox 1.18.2 whereas in the app market it has the latest version.
there's a compiled busybox archive downloader. u type busybox in market, i think is the 2nd app name busybox downloader. direct it to the required busybox version in the app to install it accordingly.
*i faced some problem when installing it from that app.macam ada bug. u can try install 1.18.0 1st then install 1.18.2. i did that as the first time when i selected 1.18.2, it just download the latest version which is 1.19.

The outlets won't know they get participate in the promotion till the promoter arrives. They are not informed by HQ!! Sometimes it's last minute they only know when promoter reached there.

How to flash ROM and custom Kernel? - flashing rom is through either recovery mode or Flashtool. installing custom kernel is only through fastboot mode.
Is install zip file from SDCARD consider flashing too besides using fastboot command prompt? or other software? - because the zip file contains the image of the ROM, and that is called flashing. using command prompt is just script-based method. other software is like 3rd party software called "Flashtool".
Do I actually need a custom kernel? - custom kernel often comes with recovery apps, such as ClockWorkMod. for me it is essential as it contains Nandroid (a recovery program which 100% backup EVERYTHING from ur unit and Recover back 100% exactly how it is in future), and is part of a must if u are a custom ROM modder/ app tester.

Hahaha. No problem. I think not all rooTed their phone. It's an option. I myself haven't root yet. . Needs to u'stand more since this is my 1st android. Just experienced my 1st auto restart. Reset the phone to factory settings and monitoring. Guessing one of the apps.

With my pro, have both Xloud+8.1mp. But yeah, some prefer design of neo/neo v. Still a good buy.

I think it's just a matter of preferences and the challenges. For me, my pro still delivers what I wanted so don't need for rooting (though I wish it can be faster and can delete the rubbish bloatware). Probably after ICS update perhaps.

had u rooted ur unit? had u installed cwm in the unit? if no, u can revert everything by reflashing it via pc companion in fastboot mode.
Still on stock. Not rooted or anything. But once I uninstalled opera, everything is ok. Nvm, only use dolphin now.

Pretty much the same reason why I bought it too. Though the specs is not the latest, the qwerty, cam and design made up for it.

do u have CWM recovery installed in ur unit? go into that recovery mode 1st and reflash it again with ur previous firmware (the one u tried to install previously).

Stuck at SE logo? You have removed battery before doing fastboot?

people are getting NEO V over RAY so why u bother RAY over NEO? ofcoz NEO pwned RAY in this case. no authorized sets available for NEO in msia, only NEO V got authorized set. if u take NEO, confirm is AP sets only. rm7xx-8xx, depend ur luck and package and AP warranty.

I somehow feel PRO has better loudspeaker compared to Neo V, in term of loudness and clarity... BTW why SE now all using soooo small LED flash compared to my previous W995 which shine like halogen bulb...

small is not a problem, but hiding at the corner of the handphone is an issue.i hardly see the led.the only time i see it is when i wanna boot into fastboot mode.

add-on: i went through xda and found out that u can only root 62 if u did unlock the bootloader previously. u didn't, am i right?

I don't know mann, but I don't think I recover back the backup data because I already tried that when I stuck at SE logo, nothing happen. I read somewhere that certain things like FM radio and HDMI only not working. I don't use that much that's why wanna try.

One thing I want to ask. What will happen if I want to format my sd card? Does it effect the phone besides the apps inside? I know I will messed up the apps if I do the SDcard format.

if format via handphone, u clear everything inside the sdcard. that includes all backup archive, image files, mp3, videos, photos...etc etc. nothing will happen except mentioned above. if u format using pc, sometimes ur handphone cannot detect back the card as it requires 2 extension files to boot it in the handphone (and it is a hidden sys file, if im not wrong).

Go launcher is good, but har IMO is quite a busy app. asyik run behind system.

But anyway, Beside the 3g Video call and the 5mp camera, this Phone is like 10 times better than my Vivaz! Fast respond, more user friendly, better battery consumption and Better LED Flash light! my Vivaz Hardly last me 2 days with normal usage(10minutes call + 10sms + 5 picture a day ) and poor LED flash light which become useless if object distance is more than 3 meters away... So far a Proud user of Neo V, Luckily I did not take the Samsung Galaxy Ace

Look at the broader perspective. If you rely on 3D video call then the person that u're calling also need to have the same capable hardware too. I am pretty happy to Google talk with my family using my Neo. The other side doesn't need to have 3G video phone as well. Just an Internet connection, webcam, Google account and computer then it'll work. 3G doesn't really that reliable especially in some parts in Sarawak. Enjoy bigger video on bigger computer screen.
Again its all depends on how you use your resources .. btw I am using Digi smartplan.
Pretty happy with my Neo now. O/C it to 1.2GHz, adding support to swap memory and multitasking/gaming issss much better. Its camera really a gem with dedicated button, custom settings and low-light sensors. Combined with some good apps from the market, there are a lot of possibilities that you can do with this phone. Feel free to experiment and explore

Yeap, still exploring! Gaming is silky smooth! so far no lag yet... no root
eh, just notice got new update for Neo. I thought it froze,actually it takes few minutes to load the first time.
anyone knows what improvement are there?

buy olidi or not ? neo is quite light and pocketable. like all smartphones, make sure you get spare battery. when I do browsing I ALWAYS have to zoom. so RAY i think no difference lor, you still have to zoom.
so your choice, is the few hundred dollar difference worth it for the smaller size for u ?
HMMMM my Neo has auto focus, geo tagging, wifi hotspot. u mean the V version doesn't have that ?

also, before the update, i have issue with one battery. the battery has 45%, then suddenly drops to zero. cannot start, then have to charge, but it starts charge from 45%, not 0%. something like that la, after the update, no more this problem
I always use LAndscape mode, not night mode, even when shooting at night. very nice !
I don't think Neo non-V is available in SonyEricsson center, I went there they only promoting the Neo V, plus Neo V is a replacement model to Neo due to the earthquake in Japan that affect the supplies of 8mp camera, but who knows mayb other seller still have some stock left with them?

Mine is not hot and battery usage is fairly almost the same with the stock. Its hot only when I pay games or load heavy tasks.
i think my experience depends on the kernel and the governor involved. I've tried a kernel with 1.4GHz at boot and its make the phone quite hot. I think its the extra voltage that contributed the extra heat and this also to make it stable.
The kernel supports OC but using stock speed at boot. I set it manually to 1.2GHz and didn't mess up with the voltage. Its stable enough and I've using it a few weeks already.

fucuk..ur 1 so much RAM meh? mine idle 55 ar! then kill app liaw get around 130 nia..SUPERCHARGER lagi...adeh! but no significant lag la...

The best so far ... NightElf kernel mod for Neo .42/.62 - enables swap memory, USB-OTG, NTFS, EXT3,EXT4, overclocking up to 1.8GHz. This kernel sets default governor at ondemand and stock CPU voltage,speed at boot. Hence, this kernel saves battery like normal even though I overclocks a bit at 1.2Ghz which doesn't feel extraordinary hot.
My favourite games are Real Racing 2 and Street Fighter 4, so 300MB RAM is not enough and had to swap memory to virtual. Extra fps can be gained by overclocking.
I am a heavy internet user and need multitask. When I switch apps, Opera does not need reload, or other apps killed to free memory.
Battery drain is not a big problem as I also have a 4800mAh battery bank every where I go
I think the best only starts from you root your phone

what do u mean by 'key' button? u needa use the HOME button to wake the screen, and that is normal for SE androids.

I have a mixed feelings about this. Partly happy as this will promote more Xperia pro user, but partly not very happy as I didn't get this price when I bought my pro. And less in 3 months. SONY, y u no put this price earlier???
FYI, latest for PRO is 0.62. however rooting kit only support until 0.58. so whoever using 0.62, sorry to say u needa wait XDA to release a compatible root kit for 0.62 firmware.

My PRO now got this problem of the turn off and when I try turn it on using power button, nothing comes up. So I have to take out battery, put it back then baru boleh on.

--> this link is not the firmware, but the KERNEL. KERNEL is for the recovery application during startup, nothing to do with the ROM. just that this particular KERNEL only works with 0.48 and 0.58 firmware.

wrong. if u do backup, u backup EVERTHING. so if u recover back from the backup point u did lastime, u get what it is EXACTLY like how it was on the day u backup. like nothing happen before. so if u backup 0.58, and update 0.62 tomorow, then u recovery back the backup, ur hp will be in .0.58. understand?

yeah. SE facebook also say got offer at ECM, that why i just buy the phone. the shop also claim they are authorize dealer. but when i called SE hotline, there is no authorize dealer in kuantan, just participating outlet, and for participating outlet, it's up to them whether to give the standard accessories or not. so does the SE hotline say to me.

titanium backup is not a must. if u got clockworkmode, everything settle for backup system. if u wanna use 0.58, u can flash it via flashtool and with the generic firmware i posted few post back.

im proud of my pro because this is the best qwerty android phone available that affordable by me. i want to wait for moto droid razr 4, but i read it wont be sell in malaysia. any other brand that offer better qwerty android phone? no i dont think so. is there is, it's not sold in malaysia.

I know how that feels...mine dropped from shoulder height thx to my ex colleague lifting me up....=( But I can tell you, despite that height the cover is still sturdy, the paint gloss somehow didnt even come out and my phone is still working. Except for the damn juice defender

it is not smaller, but far apart with each other. just to tell u that it doesnt come with free bt headset, but free SE liveview.

the phone qwerty kyboard is very nice . fast ? how fast u 1 ? haha . and ovrall this phone was superb ! just the placemnt of on/off button bother me a little .

But just now I checked SE web saying the features or pro includes 3D sweep panaroma also... Which is not mentioned in the flyer...
Anyone can confirm about 3D Sweep panaroma on Pro?
And is 1Ghz Processor ok? Placing Galaxy W at around same price for 1.4Ghz... Some salesmen claimed the difference in 0.4Ghz is much noticable...
He also claimed SE to be quite hang in their OS, but in this thread only happens on isolated cases... So should be okay...

IOS and Android are two very dif things to compare is like comparing an orange to an apple ><!
both got their ups and downs depends on your needs, but if ur the "loaded" type, IOS should be fine for u (buy all apple accessories) ==" android to me much better, atleast many things no need to buy , then can jz download free(paid) apps thru forums :PPP IOS need jailbreak bla3 and lose your warranty
Reasons i chose pro over Iphone 4. -physical keyboard, easier to type compared to Ip4 screen quite small for me >< -android can do many2 things -X.Pro camera -X. Pro sound quality -X. Pro screen is pretty good, especially watching movies -X.Pro got UTG + HDMI + SD card -not so lag compared to IP4 -the design blew me away -body plastic, not glass so no need to worry tht much -other phone accessories can be used (nokia's wireless headset, nokia OTG usb cable, Nokia USB CHARGER,etc)
Reasons i like Ip4 -screen sensitive -screen pixel excellent -good for HD gaming
Why dint choose IP4 - lag at certain times. especially texting - certain apps can get corrupted sometimes if end task them - camera is a no for me - body made of glass, geez, drop from waist height also got crack dy at the back - accessories are too expensive for me

i dont game so i cant comment on the fruit ninja...no lagging for me,but it does take a jolt to start an app but after that everything is fine

Authorized set for pro is rm1059, comes with foc liveview, hdmi cable, 2 usb cables, in car charger socket, wall socket (local), earphones, screen protector, 8GB, and 1 year full coverage warranty.
we compare it like this. rm750 vs rm1060 1060-750 = 310 liveview is rm288 ori set, ap 250 (if im not wrong) 1 usb cable is rm10 1 hdmi cable is rm200 ori set, ap rm50
total of extra balance is 500 for ori and 310 for ap.
hmm..if u tell me liveview, extra usb cable and hdmi is useless for u..then u might ignore authorized set as ap set is as well rm310 differences for the extra stuff.

my story is, i bought xperia pro because of the valentine promotion. bought it in shop name bluesky in east coast mall, kuantan. the shop said valentine promotion is rm1059, including liveview, but no hdmi cable, car charger and memory card 8gb, and said if i pay rm1299, i get all the accessories. so i pay rm1299. but after that, i read LYN xperia pro forum, someone got all those accesory at price rm1059. feeling furious, i call the shop back, and try to confront them. but they just ignore me.
so i complaint to sony ericsson malaysia, and after 1 week, these what they reply, Dear Sir or Madam,

and i thought they already settle regarding the price and accessory, but when i call back the shop, the shop still don't want to refund my money. so in the end, i lose rm240. good phone, but bad shop and bad customer service.
in the end, i still mad at the shop. i should check first at other shop before buying the phone.

im using go launcher ex. yup, abit slow than original sony ui, but i prefer go launcher ex because of the customization. im not really into rooting yet, so changing the launcher and theme is as far as i can go for customization.

back to SEX pro, which aspect do you look for when choosing qwerty phone? 1. do you like side sliding keyboard? or u prefer BB like qwerty keyboard? to me, BB qwerty keyboard is cramped. 2. do you need physical qwerty keyboard, or just onscreen keyboard? if you feel onscreen keyboard is too cramped, you can try using in landscape mode. but to me, even in landscape mode, i prefer physical qwerty keyboard. it's not of size, it's about precision and speed. 3. do you prefer precision and speed, hate typo so much? i hate typo. some onscreen keyboard is very good, i've try swiftkey, swype and touchpal keyboard. some are very good in predicting word and can remember your typing habits (try swiftkey), but nothing beat physical keyboard for precision and speed. people sometimes use the corner of their thumb to type, but i hate it. i prefer to use the base of thumb rather than corner of thumb to type. more comfortable. have you try typing using base of thumb on onscreen keyboard? if you do, u'll know how imprecise it can be, which lead to MANY typos. 4. availability and added feature the most important factor that i choose SEX pro is availability. there are actually many qwerty android phone (http://www.androidauthority.com/the-best-qwerty-android-phones-in-2011-compared-10391/), but only several are sold in malaysia. we have here in malaysia, SEX mini pro, motorola droid 2 global and several others, which is quiet limited choice we have here. to me SEX mini pro is outdated, and motorola droid 2 is overprice. SEX pro suit me more.
but overall, i LOVE my SEX pro. the keyboard never fail me. ask all SEX pro user here, they all love their phone!
