saw a weird tutorial on how to tune a snare on youtube:

bottom all tight, then on the top, 11, 12, 1 semi lose, 8,9,10 and 2,3,4 tight.... 5,6,7 lose.
tighten or loosen 8,9,10 and 2,3,4 for the tone.

ive tried it and it was very gooding

went to singapore drum shop and found this aerodrums really interesting

Hi guys, i am going to upgrade to a double pedal, i have these 3 in my selection:
Iron cobras, Speed Cobras and the Pearl Eliminator

Both the cobras are the old version, not the 2016 upgraded version.

I have tried all of them in Bentley recently. Here's my thought:

The Speed Cobra was very responsive and powerful. But the low action of it kinda turn me off (need to press deeper down the pedal).

IC and Eliminator feels very solid and stable like a usual double-chained pedal. But of course, heavier than SC. Eliminator is more adjustable according to the retailer.

What do you guys think? I would like to have feedbacks among sifu sifus

It's a matter of personal perferrence.
I've used IC & elims in the past. Using Speedcobra at the moment.
To me SC>elims> IC.
But that's me.

IC feel sluggish(bought it in 2004). Elims feel smoother (used em in 2006-7).


But that doesnt mean IC and elims are inferior. They are great pedal. James Payne can blast 16th at 260bpm with IC. Francesco Paoli was using elims in Fa's Agony album iinm.

Probably because I tested them for just a while, can't really tell the difference between the IC and elim.
May I know more about the difference you've found in between these 2?

I don't intend to play as fast as 16th at 260bpm for now though because I am completely newbie in double pedal , but would like to invest in a good one for long term usage.

I've heard people said that people over US/EU would prefer SC a lot more because their foot and really huge compared to here.
My feet is quite small, but I would like the long board for the ease of heel toe though (been using sliding technique all these while but wanted to master heel toe too), but at the same time I don't know whether is it really THAT necessary to get the extra speed and longboards over the standard double-chain pedal like elim & IC.

Oh also, do you know the differences with strap & chain drive for eliminator? I've gotten a lot of difference response via google.

If I gotten myself the SC, i would need to buy another 2 extra wooden/plastic beater though as SC's beater's felt material, because I am using a Roland TD-11kv kit and a lot of them saying that the material of the felt beater would "eat" in the kick pad I have (KD-9). Eliminator would be nice as they have the quad-side beater with plastic material.

You don't need longboard to do heel toe unless you want to do the chris adler's heel toe version on Axis longboard.
I've never try the chain version so I can't compare the elims chain drive feel.
Both IC and SC comes with felt beater. Mesh head is no1 enemy of felt beater.
You can change the head, put tapes (will not last long) on the mesh head or put a few layer of cloth on the pad (lesser rebound).
I feel that the beater bounce too quick - almost unreal in electronic kick pad so I put cloth on it for lesser rebound.
It helps with the endurance practise but you will sacrifice feel.

Some people said that you can slam 2 bass patch on the kick pad like the remo's falam slam patch, but it will sacrifice feel too and once you slap it on it is very hard to take out, almost impossible without leaving scars on the mesh/cloth head (my kick pad's cloth head rather than mesh). But i guess it is still better for me to get 2 additional plastic beater. (found out that the seller only sells wooden beater for IC, are wooden fine for mesh heads too right?)

I've now eliminated SC from my list as I realized I don't really need that longboards (my feet is quite small anyway) and I don't really required that level of speed anyway.

So it all draws down to IC and Eliminator. Reviews online are very biased with fanboism .

I like the adjustability of the Elim but the reputation of the IC for being heavy duty is very tempting. I have no experience with neither of these pedals (except for trying out yesterday). So i have 0 knowledge about their quality. But TAMA and Pearls, I don't think I will go wrong with any of these either.

May I know the IC you've owned, is it the HP900 model?

If I am able to get myself the 20th anniversary, they are provided with the Plastic and Wooden beaters iirc.

Mine is PowerGlide. That was 12 years ago, the design is a bit different and uglier compared to new ones.
Newer version has additional features such as cobra coil and stuff, maybe that will affect the feels too.
Mine was a bit sluggish but never has a problem except the squeky noise (happen to all my pedals before).

The place where I take lessons is using e-drums, the pedal beater is plastic beater, can see mark on the kick pad tho. I think is eventually will have marking, just like drum head.

Since the beater is not a problem (I don't mind spending a little bit extra anyway), I might go for IC, rolling glide probably, doesn't need much power since im using e-kit. Regarding to the squeaky sound, probably you need to oil it up? It's just my guessing though. Adjustability for Elim seems nice but at the same time I have also realized that I do not need that much of tweakings I guess. Also, I looked up the internet and found that people claims that their plastic cams broke apart . And also probably the upgrade over the 12 years would probably make it a lot better, so yeah.

certainly there would marks for all the beatings regardless of what beater you use, it's just that the felt beater would sort of "eat" the mesh and ended up dented the kick pad a lot faster compared to other 2 materials of beaters.

*I've ordered Iron Cobra Rolling Glide(the version before 2016's) + 2 Plastic beaters

adjustability..hmm..elims user here btw all i can say about elims' adjustability advantage is it will be only used once, at least for me. when i get curious to try new settings, i'll make some adjustment on the pedal. but surely i will re-adjust it back to my comfort settings. so yeah. it helps a lot for you to find your perfect pedal setting that matches your feet in the beginning, but you won't use it a lot when you already found the perfect one. in my opinion, IC got it's unique feel (mixture of heavyness and power) and your feet will adapt to it. while Elims is another way around; it adapts to your feet. anyway, just my humble opinion

Yeah, i got what you mean, somehow once you found your sweet spot of adjustment, there's no need to tweak here and there anymore.

I just got my IC, apparently something happened and I got myself the 2016 edition of IC instead

While carrying it I can already feel its heavy duty, super heavy. It is now in my dorm and I can't wait to attach it to my drum set when I got home!

To my surprise, every double pedal cobra in bentley (new or old model) are all sold out.

I got em' from Deadeye Guitar, I'd totally recommend to get your gears from him. His price is good and he is super friendly.

As much as I wished to use the stock beater came together with the cobra, I get 2 extra hard rubber beater to prevent damage to my E-drum.
Setup is a little weird for my position of my pedals because space , but I am fine with that so yeah

As for the pedal, here's my thought:

At first I wasn't used at all, it is definitely heavier than my old pedal that came together with Roland (double-chain drive).
But once I am adapted with the pedal, I gained so much control and power compared to the last pedal I've used. Although I get fatigue a little bit faster (well it is also contributed from my injury from the car accident few months ago).
