Edrum is great for practising. I'm using the Billy Blast Ballistech mesh heads on my e-drum. No doubt, the response is slightly different from accoustic drum but you may barely notice it (depends how you set it up). Much better than using plastic pad. The only problem I have when playing with my e-drum is can't play different tone with one trigger and software freeze. I'm using the cheap Alesis drum though.

So depending on how you set it up, the response may differ? I didn't know that. So how do you set it up correctly? I mean to get the best response? smile.gif

I have to loosen up some screws so that the mesh head is just not to bouncy. So it will feel close to the accoustic drum. Of course you need to spent some time adjusting the parameters after that. It just a matter of taste.

Dear experts,

I'm using IC Power Glides for a few years and thinking of getting a new pair now. Really tempted to buy Axis A Series Longboard but knowing Gavin Harrison(endorsed by Axis for 9 years) switch to Speed Cobra makes me hesitate.

Tried Speed Cobra and love them. But I never had a chance to play around on Axis before. Has anyone try them both before? Any comments?

Skill most important. With lousy pedal u havegood skill dun need axis

Couldn't agree more. Pedal won't make me a better drummer. sweat.gif
Still there are different between a Maxtone Twin Paddle and Trick Pro 1V, right? Which one would you prefer to play with? whistling.gif

Same thing here, just compare between these two Speed Cobra and Axis A Series. I know some ppl like Tama and some prefer Axis. Since this involves money, it's better to ask around.

Are there any stores that carry the Axis? Would be better to give it a try urself
*
I'm thinking to buy online for both pedal. I am staying permanently in East Kalimantan and there are no Tama and Axis pedals here.

Last week, I was lucky to met someone who owns Axis and play with them for the first time.
Too light and it feels weird. Maybe that's normal for somebody who has been using chain drive for years. Axis is just not for me.I am getting my Speed Cobra this weekend. thumbup.gif

Thanks to those who help with the comments. notworthy.gif

How much is nuansa selling the sc?
After conversion it would be around RM 1580 including shipping. Mahal kah? This the best price I can get around here.

QUOTE(5p3ak @ May 29 2012, 06:33 PM)
How much is that? If over SCs price (1.6k) Then no-no...tried Pearl DD before and don't really like Direct Drives...not my cup of tea.  sad.gif
The price I get from Sam Ash Music is USD 614.99 excluding shipping to Malaysia USD75.00 for Axis Percussion AL2 Longboards. Approx. around RM 2183.

anyone has comments on maxtone's double pedal? on a thight budget of 500 ><. personally i played on ICs eliminators and gilbratar's direct and belt drives before and my preference is to eliminators (not the DD).
*
I used Maxtone Double Pedal back in 2006. The reason I sold it because I had is the slave is becoming laggy once you reach 170 - 180 bpm. Overall.. good pedal

#1 How often do you fellow drummers practice a week?
#2 What rudiments, techniques you focus on?
#3 If not, what songs you usually play along with in your practice hours?
*
#1 - I play drum 3-4 times a week for at least 1 hour every session. I'll play more often and longer when my wife is not around.
#2 - Mostly paradiddles, double stroke for hand. For feet, I will always practice between flat foot, heel down and heel up.
#3 - During practise, I'll just listen to metronome until boring then play a random playlist in my Ipod. Mostly metal.

Speaking of technique, I want to share something here,

Apparently everybody can be master in Internet (Youtube, drum forum). Some of them are just crap. I was looking for the fastest and easiest method and end up suffering knee pain for years. I was stupid to listen to all the best techniques, fastest, easiest techniques in Internet. This was happened in 2004 but the pain is still comes and goes. Lesson learned.. in a hard way.
I am glad I don't see such thing in this forum. Start slow is always the best.

how did u get knee pain ? because of the double kicks ?
*
Yup. It was the technique where you move your ankle side to side when reaching hi bpm. Forgot the name.
I am not doing it right back then. It was fun for a while though before the pain comes.

Pearl P902, good for "double kicking" the right pedal ? cause my drum lessons, some songs require me to double kick a pedal with one foot, but the maxtone is unable to perform, too much depth and latency
*
IMHO, Pearl P902 is a good pedal for its price. Much smoother & better than Maxtone. I like this pedal more than Iron Cobra Jr.

I just read in the interview that this guy has been playing drum for 3 years. He was the former guitarist and learn to play drum to replace his drummer. He said that he actually play double stroke on the fast double pedal. Amazing! >250bpm

Do not buy the Dixons.

I recommend that you save up and buy the Speed Cobras/Iron Cobras. If you intend to continue drumming for a long time, saving up to buy quality gear will be worth it. You'll be playing with great equipment, which will make it more fun and enjoyable (and comfortable) for you.
*
Very true. Don't go cheap on pedal.

My Vic Firth Headphone broke again. Thinking of buying a new headphone with good noise isolation while playing drum. Has anyone use Audio Technica M40x for drumming?
For now, I'm using the Vic Firth as ear muff and a cheap earphone for play along with drum but I need more noise isolation to protect my ear.

If you really need isolation go for an In Ear Monitor (IEM) such as Shure SE530.
*
Thanks for the suggestion. I am prefer headphone monitor than IEM.
It just a matter of preference. Some drummers are recommending EX-29 headphone but that is too pricey.
My budget is less than RM 500 for headphone.
If I am reaching more than that, I will stick to the ear muff method and buy a new drum hardware instead.
