Hi guys~, imma new here, got 3-4 years of drumming experience. Although i stopped my drum music lessons, but i still play it casually or even improvise/learn myself. Haven't got my own drum set since parents dosent allow me, but not anymore, so wanna ask, since i don't have any experience for picking drum sets, how to choose a apropriate drum set? E.g The size for snare/cymbals/toms, the brands etc.? thanks in advance

QUOTE(muckstefan @ Jan 15 2012, 12:59 AM) i never own a drumset before as well bro, but if you ask me i would say it all depends on your situation and your personal preference. say,if you wanna pick between a cheap beginner set or high end pro set,it depends on what you wanna do with it. if for practice, cheap set is more suitable provided that you are a non-gigging/recording drummer, cuz you aren't gonna record the thing/take it to some gigs which at most time requires good sounding drums (high-end set).as for size of drums,it all depends on what kind of sound that you like. thanks bro =D, greatly appreciated my rm0.50 QUOTE(5p3ak @ Jan 15 2012, 05:31 PM) So you're the one eh? teehee, yeah ![]() This post has been edited by boiboi95: Jan 15 2012, 06:44 PM |

QUOTE(isaacmiranda7 @ Jan 21 2012, 06:11 PM) 1. Don't get the Gigmaker, it's a waste of money. Top up a bit more and get at least a Pearl Vision or Ludwig Epic for the gigmaker? why do you say so?Anyway, now we're past that, we can talk about the relative awesomeness of Yamaha drums. HAHAHAHA! The Stage Custom is a pretty solid set. It's got punch and power and is a pretty good all rounder set. Next up, the only one I've got experience with other than those two, is the Yamaha Oak Custom. Terrific response and the output is just crazy. And the tone is <3 HAHAHAHAHA! Ah, Stage Custom and Oak Custom is too much for me This post has been edited by boiboi95: Jan 21 2012, 07:34 PM |

QUOTE(isaacmiranda7 @ Jan 21 2012, 08:00 PM) I have played Paiste before, but as you guys ought to know, I'm a Sabian person The 2002 series is pretty cool Because the price is already rather high for an entry level kit. Just top up a bit more and go for a midrange kit liao And from a purely tonal POV, it's really not that great. x) The Epic? If you're interested, PM me. I'm selling a used kit, and I also deal new ones. QUOTE(5p3ak @ Jan 21 2012, 08:02 PM) Thanks for the feedback, greatly appreciated it @isaacmiranda7, i wont be buying any drum set so soon until my new house is completed its renovation, and it could take months :/ , so next time maybe, but still can you pm me the price new 1st handed standard 5 pcs kit with hardwares and crashes? wanna know the price range of it |

QUOTE(isaacmiranda7 @ Jan 21 2012, 09:45 PM) The best part about the Ludwig Element and Epic kits is that, when you buy a 5pc, they give you one free tom x) So yeah. Epic, woah, the price is epic too :/ its a okay.jpg for me » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « LS Music WW isn't the main branch cause they're just dealers mahh kan? xD Yeah, for a lot of stuff now, esp. relating to drums, can't try locally, have to order from overseas. :/ Walked past a TV earlier with a local band playing, using Orange amps and DW drums This post has been edited by boiboi95: Jan 21 2012, 10:45 PM |

QUOTE(isaacmiranda7 @ Jan 29 2012, 05:00 PM) I think I'm letting go of EVERYTHING I have lah, at the rate things are going. I'm selling my Ludwig kick pedal for RM200, and my Iron Cobras for RM800. If you're interested, let me know. I also have a couple of new sets of the Yamaha DFP9415 (the precursor to the Flying Dragon) lying around in my friends store, and it's clearing for RM1200, when the retail was RM2150 silent sticks? you mean drum sticks that coated with rubber or something like that?Do let me know if you want it! Anyway, about those silent sticks, I'm planning to get a pair when I convert my room into a studio, so as not to disturb the neighbours. Anyone wanna bulk? QUOTE(isaacmiranda7 @ Feb 10 2012, 07:01 PM) Well, it depends. The least I'd go for is two overhead condensers, a kick drum mic and a snare mic. If you CAN, mic every single thing up. thanks for the advice though, but we are in a very limitted budget, so i reserved only 3 normal mics for drums (is normal mic okay?), or i should put 4? what am i planning is, 1 mic on hi hat, 1 mic put on the middle for crash and rack toms, 1 for bass drum and snare and 1 for ride, is arrangement okay? Regarding EQing and all, well it depends on the individual drums, but to make the DRUM sound big, always put the kick and drum mic up a bit more than what you think sounds good. What happened to it? Pictures? Also, am planning to make drum covers once i got my own drum set. As question above, is normal mic okay? No money for mic specilalised for drums This post has been edited by boiboi95: Feb 10 2012, 09:17 PM |

QUOTE(isaacmiranda7 @ Feb 12 2012, 03:38 PM) What do you mean by normal mics? Dynamic, shouldn't be a problem lah, if its a small event or something. Yeah, dynamic mics Hmm... Tell you what. Your bass drum and snare should have separate mics "If possible. Ride, let it bleed into your overhead." < I don't really get what you mean? Do you meant blend it together with the Rack toms and crash? Added on February 12, 2012, 6:46 pm QUOTE(jintat87 @ Feb 10 2012, 10:48 PM) Also tak mampu beli itu la Added on February 12, 2012, 6:48 pm QUOTE(5p3ak @ Feb 12 2012, 05:49 PM) I'd prefer to change my snare though This post has been edited by boiboi95: Feb 12 2012, 06:48 PM |
