I want to get some nice food for my shrimps! Any recommendation for basics? I am going to enlarge the community in the tank slowly. So getting food just for shrimps is going to be important.

Those shrimplets which has the transparent part are from the "Liu Li shrimps" As they grow bigger the transparent part will matures and it will look like a Liu Li. As for Fire red shrimplets, yes they are red even on the day of birth~ unlike cherry shrimplets. So far non of my fire red shrimplets turned into cherries nor sakuras.

From my experience....i still prefer breeding fire red or chocolate shrimps. Rili colors are not that attractive to me...half red half transparent....If you would want to breed shrimps. I suggest u remove ur CO2 system.

Bring up the pH is that also mean increase the gH as well? 3-5pieces of coral enough to increase the pH for 1ft tank?I know this question is quite subjective but i still need to ask because i dont own a test kit. Sorry. QUOTE(L3()nZ @ Jun 14 2012, 12:16 AM) Rili shrimps are not expensive. Unless u are aiming for those high grades. From my experience....i still prefer breeding fire red or chocolate shrimps. For my 2nd tank i never inject co2. For my main tank i did inject co2, after 1year i still dont see any of my RCS berries but my yamato do. Really faint. I always see my shrimp molt but they never berries or maybe the male 1 not strong enough This post has been edited by DecemberRose: Jun 14 2012, 01:15 AM

I always see my shrimp molt but they never berries or maybe the male 1 not strong enough It is risky to put coral stone without a test kit to monitor but if you insist , then put 2pcs 3cm length coral stone in the filters since yours only 1 ft, for my 50cm tank 2pcs that size increase the ph from 6 to 6.4. Do at your own risk though. ADA amazonia soil do induce quite low ph initially, my 2ft tank i put BW Humic to stabilize/buffer the PH to 6.4. This post has been edited by arrow: Jun 14 2012, 04:54 AM

monitor your gH as well. coral chip will increase GH also. my tank previously have 5.8 pH, which is not good for BB growth. then i increase my pH by throw in 7 pieces of coral chip in my HOB. it slowly increase in a week to 7.2. after few weeks, then i realize that gh also increase to 60 (before this it only show low gh reading).Test with API test kit. cherry need a bit hard water, but not that hard... so please monitor your water parameter for your tank properly if you guys dump in coral chip in your tank.
