hi everyone, Bought the DV6-6168TX last Dec and still very much in love with this unit. I would like to share my experience of installing the 2nd HDD caddy from Casey. I still need to do some modification to the casing because the face plate latches need very small adjustments. With these mod, you can detach the faceplate again if need to reattach the DVD drive. However, the way I did this may likely void any warranty (if there is any). Removal and expanding the size of opening enable easier fitting of the face plate and removal for future. The two inner latch (smaller), can hold the cover in place. Detection by OS Cheers

AMD GPU sadly very unforgiving. Some claimed the latest driver from AMD works...and I tried last weekend still couldn't get the X server up. Maybe 12.04 this June and pray that it runs. Otherwise, I'm still ok for my work. No la no RAID-0. Both drive bootable yet it'll be interesting to try run RAID-0 or RAID-1 just for the heck of it.

Lol yea.. AMD support for FOSS is horrendous, lucky enough i don't it to run in Linux. Intel GPU is more than enough for me. Are u solely run on Linux or you dual booting? If you dual bootting, Raid-0 wont work i think.

Stock installation of oneiric won't work unless upgrade.

I updated IDT driver today but changing BeatsAudio slider didn't make any difference at all. I rolled back to old driver and it still doesn't work. Anyone experience the same thing before? Demmit winblow. Added on March 1, 2012, 6:38 pmGot it automagically fixed after several time removing, reinstalling and rebooting. This post has been edited by Acid_RuleZz: Mar 1 2012, 06:38 PM

Help guys! In most of my videos with the built in TrueVision HD webcam, there's always a white outline at the bottom left part of the video. I suspect that the culprit is a small speck of dust that somehow manage to enter the glass casing. Before this, there wasn't an outline at all and no dust particle as far as I can tell. So anyone know of a way of getting rid of the speck of dust?

I also don't know how. Maybe it was already there but didn't notice it. Currently at New Zealand lol. After taking a walk along the electronics store here, I highly doubt they're engineers are proficient with this model of laptop.
They're still selling the previous generation DV6 (pre 6001TX) :S
Added on March 2, 2012, 7:01 pmOh and anyone know of anyway to get rid of the grid-like effect when video calling?

Added on March 3, 2012, 1:33 pmanyone with 8GB fancy FancyCache? http://www.romexsoftware.com/en-us/fancy-cache/. It happens when I'm using it for skype. Mostly evident when people on the other side maximise their screen la. It's like a transparent grid effect that appears whenever there's a white background. It's mostly just annoying for some people but I guess it should be okay? Anyways, I'll be bringing my laptop to a service centre once I'm free of uni assignments. Laptop still works like a charm but just got minor issue like the dust in webcam area and the grid like effect. Overall, still okay.

So its not because of effect from webcam software like Youcam or ManyCam? This post has been edited by Acid_RuleZz: Mar 3 2012, 06:36 PM
