All of a sudden, Synaptics Pointing Device Helper is trying to make changes to the computer during startup (UAC). How can I get rid of this if I don't want to disable UAC?

Will uninstalling and reinstalling the synaptics drivers help?

I tried reinstalling drivers but still the Device helper is prompting the UAC...any sifu has ideas on how to get rid of this notification without disabling UAC.

hello guys. hepi new year. i'm thinking of getting Hp Dv6-6180us for the new year. a forumer is selling at Rm1699.
is it a good price ?what about the quality of the product?
*
RM1699? Seems way too cheap to be true. Usual price should be closer to RM3k. Check thoroughly to make sure the forummer is a legitimate seller and accept only COD

I bought a perfect fitting keyboard protector for the dv6 from eBay. It costs around RM15.
Quality is pretty good as well, and being non-adhesive, it wouldn't stick on the keys and its easy to clean.

I don't think theres much heat dissipation from the keyboard at all for this model, the keyboard feels cool most of the time.

No...Dv6 does not have an eSATA port, so our best bet would be the SS ports..

Since you're not going to game in 1080p with this graphics card, 1GB of VRAM is perfectly sufficient, extra 1GB wouldn't make a difference.

SSD however will be very noticeable in loading times and boot up. 8GB ram is nice too.
You can purchase HP laptops from HP authorized dealers like Mobility Square Sdn Bhd in Digital Mall or Lowyat.

Thanks man biggrin.gif But using an external Full HD monitor to game doesn't count is it?
*
It does, but 1GB is sufficient in most cases, especially when this card cannot handle the latest games at the high settings at Full HD. It is unlikely that you need more than 1gb of VRAM.

On a side note, I have a question for you sifus biggrin.gif
I've been having a lot of blue screens lately, I just re-enabled the paging file so that it will log the error. But after the latest BSOD, I used bluescreenview and there is no minidump found, what should I do? Is it because i hold down power button when blue screen occurs? Should I just leave it there on the BSOD?

Same here. I get BSOD's after playing iTunes and Youtube. Don't know why. Now my games lag too. Have to put lowest settings for MW3 to play properly. Before this I had put the highest settings and it'd still be playable biggrin.gif

I'm still trying to recreate a BSOD so that i can check it with bluescreenview. My BSOD usually occur during shutdowns or opening the laptop lid though.

No, [Beats] denotes the audio system on the laptop, not the headphones.

okok, can i know which DV6 model is include solo beast headphone ? rolleyes.gif

Only the older dv6 models have them. the 6001tx, 6114tx and 6108tx. Most of them are sold separately though. With bundled headphone it usually costs around 500-600 more.

I think it's better that you open up and clean the vents a little. Re-apply thermal paste if possible. 95C is too high for GC, and GC temps should always be lower than CPU..personally the highest my GPU went is to 87C, but that's in a warm afternoon without any cooler..the CPU temps went up to 94C though.

Around 50-ish for normal laptop usage (web browsing, music, videos). Intel GPU abit lower.
*
That's very normal..what drivers are you using for AMD?

The 12.1 preview. Oh could be the driver's problem since it's not really 'complete' yet right?
*
I'm using the same driver and my temps are alright. But again I haven't tried running Witcher 2. You're using a 7690m XT instead of 6770M right?

Yup. Shouldn't be that much of a difference. What temps are you getting while playing games?
*
The max I got was 87C for the GPU without cooler on a warm afternoon, was playing Skyrim, L4D2, NFS etc though.
CPU temps went up to 95C. Games like L4D and Starcraft stress the CPU more.

EDIT: I did have a small USB powered fan blowing across the keyboard though tongue.gif

Is throttlestop easy to use? I am still curious as to whether the extra 600-900MHz from turboboost will affect gaming performance

Hmm not too much difference on CPU temperatures, as long as it is below 95 it should be safe. Quite a significant difference during encoding though tongue.gif

Does anyone know where to get a matte(anti glare) screen protector for laptop of this size? Does Lowyat or Digital Mall have them?

My laptop bag did a 360 degrees backflip with the laptop inside doh.gif

Initially it won't even boot up and the screen is not on. After I reseat the RAM it is working again. Checked harddisk with HDDtune and no errors as well.

Anything else I should check?
