I want to root! Heard it makes quite a difference. How's the new OS so far? Worth the update?
You only "heard" it makes a difference? You're doing it because everybody's into it? hmm.gif

I think someone shared a link on how to transfer contacts/messages etc from iPhone to Android last time, couldn't find it now. Can share again? Much appreciated.
Next time, Google it or bookmark the page when somebody already gave it to you. sweat.gif

How do you copy contacts from iPhone to Galaxy Note? Can you copy the messages as well?

Because when I was using iPhone previously, jailbreak made a huge difference to the iPhone. That's why I feel rooting is important for me.

I think I did bro! Was looking but I couldn't find it! Thank you so much! notworthy.gif

rooting for android is very different compared to jailbreaking for iphone. Rooting means that u can use customs rom, editing the system file, take out the system apps that u don't want etc while jailbreaking the iphone means that u can install paid apps for free. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Just in case I needed to strap on the waist pouch, I have one available at my disposal.

PDair VX01 slip case;

One thing I realised that it's a snug fit going into this PDair case. So sometimes it can be difficult to take the phone out if you're in a hurry. Just a matter of getting used too. Advisable to slot the phone with the top first and with the bottom part of the phone with the USB connection exposed. When you grab the phone to take it out, you don't accidentally press the side volume and power buttons. The other thing I like is it provides adequate protection while nice to hold in the hands. When I tilt the phone slip case with the exposed end downwards, the slip case is tight enough that the phone does not slip out under gravity. Very useful. No problems with the ring tone being not too loud. Simple and nice. That's how I like it.

Not only for pirated apps. For themes, custom keyboards, custom apps, ringtones, etc. I understand that rooting Android will improve performance right?

Btw, how do I remove/hide skype contacts in my actual contacts? So many skype contacts in there rclxub.gif

Regarding upgrading to 2.3.6. After upgrading and successfully rooted the phone and proceed to upgrade to a cook rom.

My question is if the rom is base on 2.3.5 will it change to 2.3.6 if follow the above process?

Don't fix this - this is normal behaviour.  Kies runs another app to perform the upgrade and it gets disconnected.  Just wait for the entire upgrade to be downloaded then it will transfer to the note.

Oh....I want root!  Darn, can't run my root apps sad.gif.

oh, i see... coz it happened with my sgs2 last time and i tot kies was buggy...

Added on January 4, 2012, 8:30 amseems 2.3.6 is via kies only?!! check SW update via phone but got nothing... or is it overseas phones only for now?

if its for all... kinda annoying that Samsung do OTA one time, KIES only the other... got OTA, stick to OTA la...
