Hi. I am really interested in asus rog laptops. I wanted to buy the g53sx 3d version. I just want to ask if asus will be upgrading this series, i.e. put in newer gpu such as the gtx580m in the near future. If not, i would really want to buy the current g53sx with gtx560m gpu... Thanks in advance for any useful replies...

veryvery slim chance... asoos is more into the mid-range gaming market segment.... its highly unlikely that they will equip the g series with a top brass gpu ...

the nex iteration of the g53/74 shud be using the 6xx series gpu.. and i have a feeling they'll put in mid range 6xx gpu instead of the higher end 6xx gpu...

well, take what i said with a pinch of salt as there has been no official statement yet regarding future g series laptops.. who knows asoos might have a change of heart as their competitors (msi, aw, sager) have shown to be able to equip their laptops with the best gpu in its class..

It would be a slim chance for GPU upgrade. Asus uses a reverse MXM, as opposed of Sager/MSI/Alienware.

That would depends on the Asus Marketing & R&D decision if they could come out with something to back ther G-Series reputation to current competitor pressure.

@xxxcriminal : oh boy, i think i have to thank you indirectly hahaha. went to asus penang to check up on my laptop status and surprisingly they told me it was done! I was like huh? no one called me.. so they said someone earlier had the same problem and they received a few sets of graphic cards and motherboards together. so overall, it only took me less than two weeks to change my graphic card and motherboard. wooot , miss my modern warfare lols
*and my keyboard light is working lol

hello~

reporting to the club, bought my G53 on 5/01

been satisfied so far and no complain other than the screen seem to bright for my eyes, even when the brightness adjusted to low. maybe need to get gamer's eyeglass later.

do you guys got any good ROG theme for win7? the default asus theme is a bit lame~

you can get all the speakers to produce sound. but it won't be 5.1 in the sense that each speaker has it own output. It'll just be left and right (2.1) So that won't be surround sound since you can't arrange the 2 speakers to be behind you. You ned the 5.1 channel soundcard to do so.

Added on January 10, 2012, 12:56 amso basically you buy 5.1 speaker without soundcard you wasting money. the satallite speaker quality of the Z523 is better thanthe Z506, but imo the Z506 more pretty. (iirc the sub of the Z523 is better too)

So no sound card mean you waste money to get quantity > quality
