Still good battery life on mine. today from 9am till came back at 11pm tonight. FB, Twitter, Foursquare, installed and tested NFS Shift and Game Dev Story from the 10 cent promo, watched 10 minutes of Tekken Blood Vengeance movie on it, surfed plenty in between, sporadic reading on Amazon Kindle app(continuing on the Steve Jobs bio book), listening to music with screen off during non-activity and in transport, arrived home with 11% battery left.

Maybe I got a magic Nexus! biggrin.gif

I do wonder why mine wont last that long doh.gif

Excerpt from Samsung Galaxy Nexus review: Battery life and connectivity

The upshot is that if you don't use the Samsung Galaxy Nexus that much, then you'll be happy with the battery. We noticed about a 3% drain per hour when the phone was in standby, and that was with background sync running.

But as soon as you bring up that display, prepare to see battery go down up to 10% in 30 minutes - maybe more with the processor whirring away if you're using an app that needs a lot of power. If you're watching videos on the way to work and have a particularly long journey, you'll be screaming blue murder by lunchtime.

is the gaming n video quality good? Would be great if u could compare it with GNote  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Very good. Comparatively, I prefer the GNote to GNex for both gaming and movie watching because of that large screen, but if I'm stuck with a GNex, I won't be missing the GNote at all. Screen color temperature of the GNex is warmer (yellow tone) compared to the GNote's colder temp(blue).

GNote was somewhat picky of the movies I can play via Plex streaming, Gnex isn't. Video playback via DICEplayer is equally good, zero stutter or from naked eye observation, no dropped frames. Audio sounds relatively the same. I absolutely love the UI of GNex, and the snappiness compared to GNote. I'm only recently starts getting stability into my GNote after endless tweaking, custom ROM and kernel flashing, and discovered wake locks stopping my GNote from waking up. Fixed that with an app, monitoring the Sleep of Death issue, currently running fine on the GNote.

What I like about GNex is how I can simply treat it like how I treated and used my iPhone 4S, it's robust, it's snappy, it's quick on its feet, it doesn't falter when pushed. I'm a huge fan of being minimalistic, and ICS embodies that. I had to tweak GBon GNote to "be minimalistic" to my specification, I don't have to anything on GNex to get that minimalistic look.

Shadowgun, a game I'd consider most taxing, and most beautiful on the Android platform, plays exceptionally well on both, although for pure eye candy and pure smoothness, I'd give it to the GNote. The GNex so stutter every sos lightly during early load up of the game, but carries on smoothly after that. When it comes to gaming, the larger screen estate of GNote gives it a significant advantage. When working as a phone though, the GNex works better in that regard.

Bottom line is, you can't go wrong with the GNex. You have to diligently tweak the Note to get it tamed, to do what you want it to do, and what it to look like. GNex made me a believer in the Nexus line. I;ve never had a Nexus phone before, so I wouldn't know how it was before with the Nexus S and Nexus One, but if it as smooth as it is on ICS/GNex, it would have changed my perception on Android(and my perceived Android = laggy) earlier.

Drop the brightness. Watch movies sporadically, not "watching videos on the way to work and have a particularly long journey". I listen to songs in a playlist with the screen off. Processor intensive operation includes gaming, and I game in spurts, whenever I can get a break while in public transport, and even that is shared with FB/Twitter/4sq.

Surf the net, type responses in forum (the snappiness here helps you posting your message faster, there uses less screen on all the time), leave the phone to timeout, screen turn off. FB/Twitter/4sq with good strong internet connection, post your status/tweet/check-in, phone times out, screen off. The point I'm trying to bring here is that if your routine involves doing it faster and more efficiently, you use less time doing so with your screen on(which is one of the battery power guzzler), and you get the phone quickly into the mode where it just sips battery instead of chugging it like a thirsty camel.

In comparison to the GNote, bringing up the browser takes time. Typing in the response takes time. My swipes takes time because of the lagginess. Background services and tweaks I've done may cancel out certain issues I'm facing, but it runs in the background, introducing more elements where it will chug power off the battery. Screen is bigger, and eats more power.

TO me, is the way ICS streamlines my activities into something that is fast, quick and snappy that made me use my GNex with less screen time(and more screen timeout and sleep mode) that saves it that much power. I don't continuously watch a feature length movie on it, I don't even have 2 hours of free continuous time to do so. My breaks are in spurts, even if they are long, they will be in at least between 45-60minutes, and even then I get "disturbed" by emails, tweets, 4sq checkins, and FB messages that prompts me to pull out of gaming/movie watching to respond to these social media distractions.

If you do plan to watch a movie, or game, either do it with a power charger around or an extended battery. I have that on standby with me, but most if not all the time, that extended battery is plugged via USB to my YES4G Huddle MiFi, because that thing sucks battery like a thirsty camel too.

Maybe it helps that I mostly designate the heavy duty gaming/video watching to the GNote because of its screen size and the other more phone-like activities to the GNex. But I don't expect anyone to carry multiple devices with them like I do.

On which? The GNex or GNote? on GNex I left it running, it is clever enough to swap around the apps with the available system resources to not require me to do so. On GNote, I have to.

Stringfellow... can u make a comparison on audio quality for music listening between your iPhone n GNex as I tested it just now, and found the audio quality is not really good compared with my trusted iPod Touch using 2 different ultimate ears earphones. Even the Poweramp apps was not fully supported as there was sound interference when the screen was off. But the build in Music apps worked OK. Straightaway deleted all songs in my GNex and putting back my iPod touch in my bag again.

I used "3" by RockOn for my music player. And used the built in iPod Player on my iPhone 4S. On pure analog via the standard headphone jacks using my walk-around headphones the Beyerdynamics DT1350, it sounds the same when plugged into the iPhone 4S. Both devices are more apparent on the treble side, listening to "The Look of Love" by Diana Krall at 320kbps. This is when both are set at stock DSP config.

They sound relatively the same as well, when I switched to the Denon AH-2000, although the iPhone has the slight advantage when it comes to clarity and "fullness" of the sound.

I don't use IEMs as I don't feel comfortable using them. I ditched standard earbuds long time ago.

Of course, when you switch to external DAC, the iDevice wins hands down. I have the Headamp Pico external amp/DAC and connected via ALO LOD from the dock connector from the iPhone/iPod for pure unaltered digital transmission to the Pico, post-processed there and then fed to a proper headphones, that is the ultimate portable configuration I can find without adding more bulk. Only applicable to those who have their audio collections at high enough bitrate or uncompressed. Which is why, to me, the ultimate combo is still my iPod Classic 160GB + Headamp Pico + ALO LOD + DT1350(portable)/AH-2000(listening at home). IF you go analog like from headphone jack on the phone/device to headphones, it's gonna sounds relatively the same to me, when you compare between same-class listening equipment.

I can't comment much on IEMs, so I have no idea how it sounds on that when paired with the GNex. With my DT1350, it sounds as lovely as it is on my iPhone 4S.

This is the Beyerdynamics DT1350, my top choice for the portable headphones:-

will try 3 apps for GNex. Off course its hard to get the same audio quality if i pair it with my Linearossa external AMP/Dac with my iPod but the audio quality testing was made through standard headphone jacks. Thanks for the details reply.

Still getting used to my Galaxy Nexus! Have to say it's very little like Gingerbread and all before it.

Added on December 10, 2011, 10:22 pmIs it just me or does the GNex sometimes totally lose all mobile signals (emergency calls only) and takes some time to reconnect?

Using Maxis w/data plan btw.

And owners, what file manager are you guys using? Still on ASTRO?

Hello guys,

I bought my Gnex few days ago, from directd in subang.
And I guess it's my purchase that allow directd to drop it to 2499.
I bought it when he is just changing it to 2699. And when their staff asked, I said "I know the price one lar, 2899 ma."
But in real time if I care to checked his post, it would be 2699, stupid me.
But nonetheless, no regrets. I've been waiting for this, and I wouldn't mind it.

Review:
Experience: HTC Desire, Desire Z, Flyer, Aria, Samsung Tab P1000, S2 non g.
Stock Launcher is smooth as baby skin.
Root it at the first chance I have, which is 2 hours after purchase.
Fully charged it, flash with android revolution HD.
Bought battery monitor widget, follow web recommendation, chrarge full, drain full, rinse and repeat.
I'm now at 3rd cycle, and I believe I can accurately say this, Super AMOLED Sucks.
The phone is perfect for me, no question to that. But the screen sucks battery like water.
This phone, in my opinion, is just like Gnote's gsmarena battery test.
Without screen on, eg. on standby, on phonecall is good
With screen on, Web browsing, game, facebook, work (mine is gmil, excel, ftp, camera), it plain sucks battery.
Maybe it's dualcore, maybe it's Super AMOLED ( G2 non g shares the same thing, but I only played with it 2 days before handing it to my gf)
My other phone, Desire (AMOLED) , Desire Z (Super LCD), Aria (Cheapo LCD?), battery drain doesn't gimme the feel of sucking, literaly.
But the battery issue is there, definitely.
I have 2 choix charger, one 2700, one 5000 on standby just for this phone.
Go figure~~
