Err first thing first, do you have to use that condemning tone of yours to get your point across? What's up with that?
If you're resorting to that I could easily outdo you. smile.gif

I'm not insinuating anything here. You were saying why isn't the case/accessories (particularly quality ones) available immediately/before a phone (particularly GNex and Note, or Samsung's part) is made available.

The sample case you've given was like what? One out of ten phones that have been launched recently? If that's the case, its not the norm anymore. Why would you use an exception case like that to prove your point?

Plus, when I said available locally, I mean Malaysia, not America. If you're talking about America, they ALREADY HAVE GNex accessories for sale in their Verizon store, yes even before their GNex is launched.

Then that brings me to this point again, if every other regions have gotten their share of accessories sold locally, wouldn't that means Malaysia's the problem here, and not Samsung?

For whatever reason that is the case, I'm not arguing on that, because I do agree Malaysia too should have the cases sold locally, but it is not happening. At best, resellers are importing them to sell it locally. If you're going to improve on that with action, I'm more than happy to support you.
*
Hence lies the HUGE freaking problem. Samsung doesn't see it fit to grace us with the chance of getting these official accessories, and we have to rely on reseller to get them? If I have to rely on resellers, I might as well make the purchase online myself, coz these resellers too have to go through the same channel as I am, isn't it?

Say I agree with you saying it's Malaysia's problem. Why is that? I'll let you answer it rather than giving examples on my own, coz everyone seems ready to pounce like a tiger on every answers I provide here, even though it is basically the reason why it is, even if is not pleasant to hear.

I'm not gonna bother elaborating on that sample case you're harping about. You asked about which manufacturer produce their own case, I provided some examples. If you wanna go beyond that and fetch whatever point you wanna give, be my guest. Still doesn't solve the point at hand: "In Soviet Russia, accessories come with phone. In Malaysia, accessories you find yourself after you got phone".

P/S: Unless your computer comes with an app to detect condemnation, that previous reply comes as a more "friendly punch a guy in the shoulder" kinda tone than condemnation. The setting of that app of yours must be screwed up. Eh, your call. I didn't meant that way, but if you take it as such, "what can I do"?*in New Yorker Italian dialect with a shrug*

Expensive here is subjective. Like I mentioned it before, one of the forum member here mentioned the official leather pouch for the Galaxy Note priced at USD25 as "expensive". Not to me, at that price, if I get it dirty , then so be it. I'd rather have that pouch dirty than a scuffed and scratched Galaxy Note.

I'm not looking for a freaking RM300 case here glittered with Swarovski crystals, I'm looking for a freaking GBP20 official leather pouch that is supposed to be here when Samsung released the Galaxy Note. Is that too much to ask? Are Malaysians that cheap?
*
Would you still opt for that case if SME is pricing it at RM180 - RM200? And this figure is just a conservative estimation I made. Usually the official price is close to double of those price you can get from online + shipping.

Is that still subjective on price or plain stupid to pay such amount? doh.gif

Arguing an issue that out of our reach will not solve the problem,

Is that a fact? I see Samsung pricing their Samsung Galaxy S2 accessory like the MHL-HDMI adapter sold at Low Yap Plaza pretty reasonably. Even you yourself said the USB connection kit for the Tab sold "quite well", and judging the thriftiness of the Malaysian crowd, would not have happened if it's expensive?

C'mon man.

If nobody brings this up, SME/Samsung/your local distributor will continue with their ways and you'll never see your official accessories in real life before you buy them, other than in pictures and YouTube clips. A forum is made for discussion, and in a discussion, there bound to be one party subscribing to a school of thought, and another subscribing to something else. The key here is to talk about it civilly. I believe that civility has been maintained insofar?

Depending on your area, I personally think Umobile is a poor choice. I am using their RM28 prepaid mobile data option, and the Galaxy Nexus I'm using, either by the fault of their mobile network, or the fault of the phone itself, have a hard time auto-switching between Umobile's 2G network and their 3G line. On my Galaxy Nexus, often I had to manually switch between their "UMobile" which is their 3G line and "UMobile 2G". Often when the phone latches on to the "UMobile 2G" line, it does not auto-switch to "UMobile" 3G connection, I had to do a manual switch by letting the phone look for the network and register for it.

Thank God this is a test run, I'm switching to something else after the credits on this UMobile prepaid card runs out.
I think UM dont have 2G network. All borrowed from Celcom... I think thats the reason why switching is damn slow... almost had to do it manually each time.

Are you sure the original case is so expensive? The official sgs2 leather pouch is not much higher than 3rd party one.

S2 power pack battery, this. Last shop with big big SAMSUNG logo in their shop, quoted me RM339. thumbup.gif

Aside from that, the USB connection kit leave many of us no choice. I was waiting for 64gb one, unfortunately SME don't even bother to bring it. Of course, they might deem that 64gb has not enough demand. Then there aren't many 3rd party China made USB kit easily found here, unless you get it online. So many went ahead with it. And with that, if 1 shop decided to throw in discount, every jumps into the ship, seeing that getting discount is better than not, even the after discount, it still cost 3x of china brand.

This doesn't shows the popularity of the accessories, more like lacked of choice.

Are you daft? Why should I bring this in, when it is Samsung's responsibility to bring in decent enough accessories for their own phone? This is first party for God's sake, not third party! If it's third party, I wouldn't be harping on it, I'd be going to their respective websites and purchase it from there. What's more pathetic than me having to buy Samsung's own official accessories at a THIRD PARTY website like Clove or Mobilefun, than Samsung themselves? doh.gif

And the truth is out at last! Can I safely assume that the majority of users here who spent more than 2000 ringgits for their premium phone, can't even bother to spend anything other than what's priced for "China product" when it comes to their accessories like cases, screen protectors, etc?

It keeps dropping to 2G network especially during rainy season. But forcing it to use 3G, the connection is fine. Or was it my phone just lazy?

Sigh. Penat aku melayan mamat nih. That is third party battery la. What I'm talking about here are first party accessories from Samsung themselves. That battery is from Droidax. Samsung has no control whatsoever over the price of third party merchandises.doh.gif

So you're saying that is there is a China made 3rd party USB Kit and is cheaper, the majority of people will flock to it instead of the official USB Kit? Price > quality ?

Fine, you're cheap. But what about those who wants choice in their accessories in terms of better quality and don't mind paying a little bit extra for that quality? SME here simple pass that responsibility and choice to third party accessories, in which a few of us have said, prefer something of a better quality than shoddy china-brand cases. It's like they forcing everyone to buy these shoddy china-brand cases, or look elsewhere (online, parallel importers) and be slaughtered by them. When it is their responsibility to bring in these first party accessories together with the phone at launch.

Well, keep harping then, to see if SME would see your point.

But just ranting in LYN won't be enough, bomb them with emails. Pester them about accessories everyday. Maybe someday, someday you get what you want, when Galaxy SXX is out.

Everything is from China these days. My iPhone 4S is made in China. But China-made official first party accessories are screened through quality control compared to your typical China-brand cases.

China-brand. Not China-made.
