But one problem arise here...

Galaxy Nexus pogo pins is position on the right side same with the power button. If dock, how to switch on and off the screen?  hmm.gif
*
There will most likely be a secondary power button on the dock.

Added on November 27, 2011, 12:37 amFor Samsung, we have samsungdive.com, for HTC, we have htcsense.com.

For Google, what do we have for similar features?

Remote lock, phone tracking, ring your phone and such. If only Google would build these features into Android and be controlled from Google site itself.

Added on November 27, 2011, 12:39 amAww guys. I think what Similan posted was fine. It's nothing biased in the article. As for "verdick", that was probably just a typo, as he/she did with his/her nick.

We should accept this openly and see how Google improves. smile.gif

I'm guessing about that "fruit" thing,  it's more of a slur against the iPhone users than anything else.

Pity we can't get along. I use both, but you don't see me calling my Android a "pastry".
*
What's wrong with being "fruit"? biggrin.gif

BTW, Android's is desserts, not pastries. *nyum nyum*

sounds more like you're doing it out of retaliation and name-calling than the "there's nothing wrong" motive.

Google "fruity" and see what definition you get. I don't wanna assume coz you know what they say about assumption?
Too bad, the additional "fruity" terms probably catch up after the released of iPhones? I sympathise those that feel butt-hurt. lol.

It's still fruity as hell as apple is indeed a fruit. smile.gif

Please test the "volume glitch". Turn your phone to EDGE/2G mode and see if it glitches here.

Will try that.

In fact, I'm gonna message my friend now to ask him to test, in case I forgot. tongue.gif

Too short hands on to actually do a review. It would be unjust. But I'll try to molest as much as possible and bring charger as well in case it ran flat.

I have heard from another user (friend's friend), battery last for 1/2 day only. ohmy.gif

Just keep spamming the software update button. A new firmware with the volume button fix was pushed out this morning. Search for samfirmware on twitter.
*
The software update would be from Google directly, not from Samsung, right?

As I have Galaxy phones that requires me to login Samsung Dive account in order to check for OTA updates.

Just finished uploading 5,883 songs into Google Music already, this will be a good alternative than to keep songs inside the Galaxy Nexus, since it's fixed 16GB storage and no option to increase it anymore.

Google Music for songs, Plex for Android for movies.
*
Some of my albums are not sync'ed to my phone, see if that happens to your phone as well? It could be my phone's problem, not sure though.

*
He's not staying overseas. The phone, I guess is a test unit, though he didn't tell me in details. As to what's his job, I dont think it's at my convenience to tell that. Rest assured, he gets to play with new phones from time to time even before being released in the market. biggrin.gif

If he would have tell me earlier, I would have seen him earlier to play with his toys. blush.gif

Are they DRM-ed? If so, they they won't appear on Google Music. Some on my iTunes Plus purchased songs that are DRM-free are also having problems appearing on the phone as well, I needed strip the metadata off, retag it and then it will appear. Reports also indicates difficulty of uploading WMA files.
*
Not sure if they are DRM-tagged. My own collections of CD ripped using WMP11 into MP3 format. Will they be tagged?

Hi peeps, just back from molesting my friend's GNex. Apparently, it's engineering set, which means, a lot of stuff are not in there and it's not meant for day-to-day use.

Very lengthy post ahead
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Sorry for the lengthy post and thank you for even reading it. lol. biggrin.gif

EDIT: Forgot to mention, phone off charging screen still there, now with an Android + a huge battery + lightning in the body of the Android. Screen will comes on when you press power button once.

As for the SAMOLED HD screen, it's superb! You don't need Retina Display, this is already good enough as I tried very hard to look for pixel with my bare eyes, hardly noticeable. Roboto font is really nice, it's more standardize look on browser. I kinda hated how my browser's font looks @ SGS as it has very bad consistency all over, now in ICS, it's just... very "Apple" feel. biggrin.gif

anyone can answer my question ??
furthermore, since galaxy nexus doesn't build in support radio
so if we download those radio related apps from market, need use data / wifi to listen or what ??
*
I think FM Radio is a hardware chip itself. If it's not there, even with app also it won't work.

This is a bad news to me if it doesn't come with FM Radio. sad.gif

o.O, that was good so that means this also no problem smile.gif
*
Don't tell me you don't plan to have a data plan when using this phone. That would makes the phone un-smart already. doh.gif

Go with data plan, or get a Nokia. (no offence to Nokia owners)

since already got the budget to buy the phone, then why don't have the budget to subscribe data plan
*
So back to FM Radio. It's either you live with GNex without FM Radio, or use your old phone, or wait for SGS3, which is more than likely will have FM Radio, 3G GSM video call and many more.

I also can't part with FM Radio, but I like this phone so much. When I first saw the earphone jack was at the bottom, I have already imagined how I would put it in my pocket while listening to radio with it. I guess that won't happen now. doh.gif

wow..u mentioned that your excitement level was not that high...mind teelin me if it made u a bit disappointed after molesting the real item....
*
Firstly, it was an engineering set, which is not how it should be for the market. Like I mentioned earlier, Market is not installed in the phone while I can't get a temporarily one working. The ICS is not as optimised as it should. So the put off was merely on the software itself. Not to mention that the almost 1 second time to load the camera from the lock screen (slide left to the camera icon). Face Unlock does not come with this firmware as well.

As for hardware aspect of it, everything looks fine (didn't test the flash though, but I guess there's nothing to shout about compared to other phones). The oleophobic screen was not as "smooth" as iPad2's. iPad2's screen gave me the feeling of having a layer of thin air cushioning between my finger and the screen (almost contactless), hence it gave the really smooth feeling to it while moving/cruising your fingers on it. This screen is a tad more sticky. Was it dirty? But compared to my seasoned iPad2's screen, this GNex screen still felt stickier. Perhaps it would be better on a really brand new unit?

So I guess that's all. As you see, my excitement was more about the ICS than just the hardware. Love the design, but 1.2G is nothing to shout about. What really shines is the OS. Thus I was less excited because it's not the latest f/w in the phone.

Don't worry, I'm sure the market released units will be fine. thumbup.gif

You still can go for SGS2 if this doesn't work for you, lol.

I have got no choice, the orientation in the pocket solely depends on where the wire was connected to.

But for phone like this, I guess there's not much difference, just need to locate your volume button. Haha.

It's a no go for me as well, because, from my unit to lift, I will get data.

From lift to underground car park, totally no data connection.

With FM Radio, sometimes I will still get some signal in the lift and underground. I guess for FM signal, it's still better to stick with low tech signal. rolleyes.gif

As per above, reason for data-driven radio app not working for me.

But I guess I can still use it in office. rclxms.gif

Any particular app to recommend?
